„The condition of the property was bad

„The condition of the property was bad. The condo is outdated, and it needed urgent repairs. It was very cold some days inside, and two electrical portable oil heaters were not enough to have normal temperature inside. It was a very bad smell from the kitchen sink. The managing company HostWise and owners of the property ignored most of our requests. For example, they didn't want to give us a key from a mailbox for a very long time. They gave it to us only after our threat to cancel our rental. They sent us monthly invoices for 2024 only after many of our requests for invoices, but ignored our multiple requests for getting invoices for January and February 2025 completely!“

You booked me into two places that did…

You booked me into two places that did not genuinely have heat, when I purposely selected them because they said that they had heat. Plug both heaters in because they are too small and the power goes out - there goes the groceries!.
Someone from Flatio needs to physically go and actually verify the units for genuine content offered and workability of features advertised. Next unit I rent from you doesn't have a microwave that works: and the owner has been made aware of it, and isn't replacing it. And I 'm here for another 3 weeks. In the end, you're lying to people, whether you know about it or not.
And I'm still waiting almost a week since I moved out for my refund from the owner, because Flatio doesn't do that like other rental agencies, of which I will be using because Flatio is over priced, and incompetent when refunding guests who have been bamboozled deliberately by them.
Bait and switch. Get them on the hook, and slowly, slowly give them Some of their money back you fraudently stole from us

We’re very sorry to hear that your recent stays didn’t meet your expectations. We’ve looked into both bookings, and we’d like to clarify few points.

Both listings were advertised with electric heating only. Neither was advertised with central heating. We understand this may have affected your comfort, but in both cases, the apartments were delivered as described by the hosts.

Regarding the first apartment, we understand it must be frustrating when there is an electrical issue in the property. We were in touch with the host to ensure a smooth communication and the soonest resolution. The host agreed to an early termination of your stay and refunded you the rent for the unused nights and provided us with proof of payment.

Lastly, as for your second booking, we reached out to the host about the microwave issue. The host recommended to use the microwave on a different mode but in case it would not work at all, they were open to provide a replacement.

First time booking

Month long booking,mid February to mid March. Things worked out well, Flatio sent us a number of tip newsletters on Spain and Portugal and were very helpful keeping us informed on what our duties were as tenants and the responsibilites of both us to the landlord and vice versa. We had no reason to file a claim but knowing the what ifs was helpful. We are on to another month long stay and are hopeful it will go as well as this one.

Quick service and good offer

It was my first experience with Flatio and I am very satisfied. Their replies and support where quick and accurate. In addition, the fact of not having to give a deposit and having an insurance was really helpful to decided for one of the flats advertised there.
The housing options they offer are good and my experience with the landlords was very good too.

Best customer service I have ever experienced.

Flatio gave us exemplary customer service when we ran into an issue with our rental. The agent I dealt with was extremely helpful, professional and remained in contact with us every day until the issue was resolved. I could not have asked for anything more from Flatio or the agent involved. I would not hesitate to recommend Flatio to my family and friends.

Flatio prioriterer utleiere over leietakere – vær forsiktig

Flatio fungerer mer som en beskytter av utleiere enn en nøytral plattform. Da jeg sa opp leiekontrakten direkte til utleier, ble det avvist fordi det ikke var gjort via Flatios system – til tross for at retningslinjene ikke spesifiserer at andre skriftlige oppsigelser er ugyldige.

Mariana fra kundeservice svarte raskt og var svært behjelpelig, men høyere opp i systemet fikk jeg kun vage og byråkratiske svar uten konkrete henvisninger til regelverk. Selv etter flere henvendelser klarte ingen å vise til en regel som ugyldiggjør oppsigelser utenfor plattformen.

Jeg ble heller ikke informert om at leiligheten hadde et Alertify-overvåkningssystem før etter innflytting. Skilt ved siden av enheten opplyser om måling av wifi, strøm, støy og antall personer i leiligheten – alt skjult bak sofaen.

Flatio sikrer primært utleiers interesser og har et rigid system som gjør det vanskelig for leietakere å få rettferdig behandling. Vær forberedt på motstand hvis du støter på problemer.

Safe

Flatio is a safe platform to look for places to stay. The instructions make the process very clear and easy. I think it should be more strict for hosts, because the pictures or descriptions didn't give me the impression of the whole place I booked. It should be more accurate. Besides that, it works pretty well.

very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Flatio. My case was closed too quickly, and my explanation was not properly considered. I was left feeling completely overlooked.

I invested time and effort preparing the house for the guest, and I believe I should have at least received some compensation. Instead, the decision unfairly favored a highly demanding guest who blamed the house for his allergies. The property was exactly as described in the listing—simple, rustic, and not a luxury accommodation. It was clearly not suitable for someone with such specific sensitivities, yet I was the one penalized.

Additionally, some of the complaints were simply unreasonable. Natural wear in an older home was misrepresented as serious defects, and even standard outdoor elements, such as mice in the garden, were exaggerated. I live in the house myself and have never encountered the supposed safety concerns he raised.

Ultimately, Flatio's handling of the situation was neither just nor balanced. As a result, I cannot recommend their platform and have decided to remove my account. I would advise future hosts to be cautious, as the platform prioritizes the guest’s word over fairness.

Please know that our decision was not made lightly. We carefully reviewed all the details provided by both you and the guest. Based on the evidence, including the photos we received, we determined that the conditions of the property—such as mold and the presence of mice—posed potential health risks, making a comfortable stay impossible for the guest. From a hygiene perspective, such conditions are not acceptable in any rental property. Given these circumstances, we had to recognize the guest’s right to withdraw from the lease agreement.
