At first hard to find but than.....a lovely place to be. A place to relax. Somewhere you can chill down. From there you can easily explore the cities of Bristol or Bath.

Blackbarn Wood was the perfect place for our long weekend in Cambridgeshire (and beyond). The cottage is exactly as it looks in the photos and its location is fabulous for exploring - there are many places of interest around 20 minutes away including Cambridge, Audley End, Linton Zoo and Duxford Imperial War Museum. The hosts communicated exceptionally well. The only issue we had was we found the wrong lockbox first and obviously the code didn't work as it was the wrong box! After a panicked phone call to Finest Retreats I was called back within 5 minutes (we had found the right lockbox by then!). If you're looking for a cosy, peaceful base in Cambridgeshire with comfy and spotlessly clean beds in a great location then Blackbarn Wood is for you. Delicious biscuits as a welcome treat too plus marshmallows to toast if you can brave the English weather in February.

Really enjoyed our stay ar Charnwood Cottage in Lewannick Cornwall.
Very comfortable cottage with everything you need. Had a issue with the TV remote and finest retreats got a new remote send to us next day.
Lovely village location and walking distance to the local pub which was extremely friendly and served lovely homemade meals. Will be booking this cottage again.

Fabulous 5 bedroomed house in Whitby for 5 couples. Well equipped, large spacious rooms and fabulous location.

This place is for those who want escape. It is isolation and perfect peace away from traffic, city noise and yet still has WiFi ! Nature abounds. We spotted 26 different bird species while we were there! There can’t be many places in the country where you can get such isolation!!!

We booked Wesleyan House via Finest Retreats at £267 per night as a luxury stay for my father’s 70th birthday. One of the key reasons we chose this property was the advertised games room and private cinema.

Unfortunately, on arrival, the cinema was not working. We contacted the out-of-hours team, who were friendly but unable to fix the issue remotely. The following day, a cleaner attended and also attempted to resolve it, but after speaking with the owner, we were told it could not be fixed during our stay.

While I appreciate that faults can happen, the cinema was unavailable for the entire duration, which significantly impacted what was meant to be a special occasion.

What was more disappointing was the handling afterwards. I was told I would receive a compensation form on the Monday after returning home — this didn’t arrive, and I had to chase multiple times before finally receiving the form by Thursday. I didn't get any response for over two weeks until I chased for an update.

The compensation offered was £10 per day, plus the booking fee (£42), and a 15% discount on a future stay. A total of £72 in value for the loss of a key advertised feature in a premium-priced property feels completely inadequate. For context, it would cost more than that for a single family trip to the cinema.

I declined the discount as I would not book again. For a “luxury” provider, both the issue and the resolution fell well below expectations.

A disappointing experience overall.

A very cozy place to stay, a tastefully decorated holiday home in a beautiful rural setting. The host is very kind and helpful, and the property is easy to get to.

Customer service is great, a ‘can do’ attitude and problems quickly sorted.

As a host I have used Finest Retreats for a number of years and have always found them to be helpful and approachable. The communication from the team members is brilliant and they are always on hand to help with any issues when they rarely arise. I would recommend them to others.

We had a really positive experience with Finest Retreats (booked via cottages.com). Communication was friendly, clear and prompt throughout, which made everything feel easy and well organised from start to finish. The information provided ahead of our stay was helpful and reassuring, and any questions we had were answered quickly and professionally. It all contributed to a smooth, stress-free experience, and we’d happily book through them again.

Well equipped apartment, spotless, wonderful host.

I would never recommend this Company. 8 days before we were due to go to The Old Windmill, Hindolveston, Norfolk for a very special celebration with friends and family over the Easter weekend, the Company Finest Retreats rang me up to say they had cancelled my holiday accommodation. The reason they said was that a family were already living there. Finest Retreats had confirmed my booking, taken a deposit and the full remaining balance in February. When I asked them to find me alterative accommodation (second time of me ringing them) the two places they sent details of were approx. 300 miles away and 260 miles away from our home, family and friends. I asked, as they had cancelled, whether I could have any details of slightly more expensive property they had available as some sort of compensation I was flatly refused. My advice would be a) think twice about this Company and in particular this property, and b) do not assume the property will be available until you arrive.

As usual superb, as I have been to belle house 8 or 9 times now I think that speaks for itself.

Not only are the properties out of this world fantastic, they are detailed and caring and nothing is too much trouble.

Finest Retreats have been managing my property’Islip MIll House’ for 3 years and have been tremendous and very friendly and helpful, it’s also nice to see people enjoy their stay here too 😀

I appreciate my requirements were maybe a little different compared to what the company are used to dealing with but the customer service element was shocking.

Before booking a property I had one specific question which after a number of emails and two phone calls over the course of a week, my partner finally got a response. Thankfully the property did not get booked up in the time it took for them to get back to us.

I can't quite decide if it is poorly ran or if the company doesn't care. It seems like they have a large portfolio of mostly very well presented properties but fail to keep track of and have no personable element to the properties they manage. You may have to spell the property name out to them if you try to arrange a booking.

Unfortunately my booking was cancelled 11 days before arrival. I was told this was by the property owner as "it won't be ready". This of course left me with very little time to find an alternative and I knew I would have to pay a premium for a late booking. I was assured I would be sent alternative properties to look at later that day only to receive a phone call to tell me it wouldn't be until the day after. I appreciate the heads up but total honesty from the beginning would have been appreciated. Despite the fact I wasn't going to book with the company after this, I explored the alternatives. I mentioned that I believed I am owed some sort of discount if I was to book, I was told that it's at the property owners discretion. In this case I feel that the company themselves should have footed the discount as I am sure that when my booking was cancelled they would have charged the property owner some sort of penalty. It should not be down to an alternative property owner to "pay" for something that did not involve them.

I read some previous reviews about the company and most of them seem good with the odd one mentioning customer service and response times. Unfortunately for me I was on the receiving end of a negative experience with that and overall with the company. I will endeavour to never use finest retreats for this but also for the fact that when I am parting with £4000 I think the service does not demand the premium price.
