Avoid ENTERPRISE/ALAMO rent a car
I rented a car from Zurich airport from ALAMO/Enterprise. On the way back, nobody picked up the car, you just throw the keys in a box. the car was returned without damage. Now with 2 photos of the top part of the car. without date and time, without showing the entire car with the numbers and the damage, they are asking me for over 1000 euros for alleged damage. I ask them to send photos with dates, time, the entire car and they don't respond
Scratched up car, unable to refuel, and inexistent customer service
First car provided covered in dirt, so I couldn't check for damage. Got a replacement vehicle fairly quickly, which was covered in damage, and made me anxious throughout my hire, as their damage reporting method I thought was really dodgy.
The petrol cap couldn't be opened on the side of the car, so I couldn't refuel before returning the vehicle. There was absolutely no way of reporting this. Needless to say, I was charged the refueling charge and probably extra for their fuel. I searched and searched for a contact to dispute this, there is absolutely no way to get in contact with them, the only email address I could find I sent a long email to and never heard back.
Unfair Charges and Poor Customer Service
I recently rented a car from this company and had a very disappointing experience. The vehicle I was given already had several scratches and minor damages when I picked it up. Despite this, I was later charged £500 for a small scratch — something that could easily have been one of the many existing marks on the car.
When I tried to discuss the issue with customer service, they were completely dismissive and quick to insist that it was my fault without any proper investigation.
It feels like they are taking advantage of customers by holding them responsible for wear and tear that clearly existed before. I would strongly advise others to choose another rental company that treats customers fairly and transparently and avoid Enterprise CH Basel airport at all costs.
Company is operating scams
Company is operating scams
They charge me a 50 admin fee but wouldn't tell me what for
Then, before I had a chance to pay it handed it off to a debt collection agency tripled it and harassed me for the money
No customer loyalty in this company and they did everything they could to get more money out of me and tax a tourist
Please do not use this company!
I picked up my rental car on September…
I picked up my rental car on September 15, 2025, and returned it on September 26, 2025. Upon returning the vehicle, employee reassured me that everything was fine, despite my noticing a small scratch on the passenger side rear bumper that may have occurred during my stay in downtown Zurich. I was informed that I did not need to be concerned about this issue.
However, after returning to the United States, I received a bill for $2,150 for alleged damage. I have been trying to reach customer service without success, as I am not able to find a contact number for Enterprise in Zurich. My insurance is ready to pay for any valid damages; however, I can not resolve this matter directly with enterprice zurich airport.
It is very difficult to contact them, they do not have any phone number and the number they provided to customers is answering machine and refer you to website.
This experience has been very frustrating, and I hope to find a solution as soon as possible..
DO NOT RENT WITH THIS COMPANY - SCAMMERS
DO NOT RENT WITH THIS COMPANY
I wish I had seen all of the recent reviews before hiring with Enterprise Geneva, which is a real shame as the experience in terms of collecting the car wasn't too bad. The car was faultless, and the return process was easy.
We have however now been scammed, having been charged for two items 'missing' from the car which Enterprise had already detailed as missing when we collected the car.
I assumed a genuine mistake, however, they just ignore your emails altogether and process the charge regardless.
I now have £265 on my credit card for items which according to Enterprise I didn't have in the rental any way.
Clearly operating a SCAM, which is a shame as we have always been loyal customers to Enterprise.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Bank confirms it is FRAUDULENT
My usual car rental company (Europcar in Messe) was fully booked so i went with Enterprise at the Basel Airport (Swiss side). I booked the car for one day and made a video of the car before leaving the parking lot.
It was a sunny day, i was just in the countryside and gave the car back in the evening.
Of course, as everybody else renting there i got a fine for 750 CHF for a scratch on a tire (that looks like something that would happen while parking in the city). Knowing i didn't do anything wrong I check the video and see the same scratch already present on the car before departure.
Seeing the online reviews i also immediately mark the credit card transaction as fraudulent with my bank UBS.
I happen to pass by the airport quite frequently and asked the agent there why these things happen, it tells me just to use the insurance and not to worry about it. So he openly just admits there committing insurance fraud, unbelievable.
Customer service denies that my video is correct and refuse to pay me back but luckily UBS struck the transaction as FRAUDULENT and i got my money back.
I hope this company and its management gets sued
Charged me £400 for a small mirror scratch that I did not make
Charged me £400 for a small mirror scratch that I did not make on a car that already had 14 reported damages. When asked (twice), they were unable to provide evidence of the repair having been carried out.
My recent rental at Enterprise/Alamo…
My recent rental at Enterprise/Alamo Geneva Airport left me concerned about the process.
When I picked up the car, I was asked to sign the pre-condition report before seeing the vehicle, which was parked a bus ride away. I later realized that the report itself was signed by staff on my behalf, as the check-in screens were “not working”, so I did not have the chance to review the contract or condition report myself, as the process went to quickly for me to realise that this is what was being signed on my behalf.
I was not advised to take photos of the vehicle, and when I later asked about past records, I was told that “no photos were available”. The damage in question was a curbed wheel, which I absolutely do not recall happening during my rental (neither does my partner present at all times).
My insurance will cover the claim, so I am not posting this for compensation. I am sharing my experience to encourage future renters to take their own detailed photos at pickup and to carefully check documentation.
Very poor service
Like many others I was also charged for damage on the car that was pre existing. Fortunately I took loads of photos and damage was very clearly there before I started the rental. But it still took weeks to get a refund. If I was being kind I would suggest they were just incompetent and had poor processes but I suspect they may be trying it on to get extra charges deliberately based on the many other reviews especially as the damage was so clear it's hard to understand how they could miss it. Probably best to avoid and if you do rent with them take lots of photos and expect a poor experience and a bit of a battle to get refund
Apparently I am not the first victim. Stay away!
Apparently I am not the first victim.
Enterprise - Alamo rental car place (Bern airport, Switzerland) is the last place you want to go to. The staff there are rude and horrible customer service. My wife and I picked up the rental and returned exactly per their instructions. We arrived at the rental facility but because there were busy, the parking spaces are full. We parked and waited for availability. The space becomes available literally next to us and as we tried to back it in, their staff sped from behind and pulled into the space. I got out and asked what is going on, they yelled in broken English to wait for another one. Another 4-6minutes passed and another opened up, this time 2 spaces up. Again, as we attempt to drive in, another staff literally pulled out from opposite spot and backed right in, nearly hitting us. As fuming as we were, we got out and they looked at us discriminately if we were aliens and did the "2 hands palm up raise" to show what can we do as they beat us to the spots. Keep in mind, they are actual staff. Should they not be assisting the customer, rather than fighting and competing with them? A few days later, they sent an invoice with photos saying there was damage to the car's roof. We took videos of before and after, there was nothing and the car was returned in the same condition as it was. We also tried to contact the Swiss airport police after we turned to the US, they were not helpful either. They don't even speak English, which is unbelievable. After months of exchanging emails trying to dispute, Enterprise/Alamo sent the damage invoice to the collection agency. As of today, we have also tried to contact to the Swiss Attorney General but I am sure, we may not get a response. How many more victims before these people are stopped and prosecuted?
Enterprise Switzerland charged me over…
Enterprise Switzerland charged me over CHF 2,000 for damages that were already on the car when I picked it up in August 2025. I had a time-stamped video proving the scratches were pre-existing, sent screenshots, filed tickets, replied to emails (their call center is non-existent) — all ignored. A week after drop-off they sent photos of the alleged damage, which could have come from any renter after me, and still charged my card.
This feels like a pattern — looking at other reviews, many people describe the same treatment. How many of us have to go through this before a lawsuit becomes an option? Stay away from this company.
DO NOT RENT WITH THEM / READ CAREFULLY
DO NOT RENT WITH THEM AND READ CAREFULLY! I was a faithful customer of Alamo/Enterprise with over 40 rentals during last 3 years until they scammed me and had me pay over 400€ for an already existing tiny scratch (less than 1 cm) on the door handle. When picking up the car, they always tell you that you should not care about these tiny scratches. When returning the car, the agent told me "Everything is fine, I will close the contract". Of course, you never receive any confirmation and there is no commun signature from both parties when closing the contract. 25 days after returning the car, I received a bill regarding this scratch I had not made and my credit card was charged. I filed a complained to the customer service that reply after weeks that they would see with the corresponding team. Needless to say that they never came back! I called Mastercard who told me they had numerous similar cases with Enterprise Zurich. Food for thoughts... DO NOT RENT WITH THESE SC@MMERS!
Worst company to rent a car
I have select drop location different. At a time of pick up they said this location is permentaly closed so you drop on different location which very far from our planning then we asked for solution - they told cancel the booking. They sent me 3 invoice instead of 1. I missed one. Instead sending reminder they sent my file for collection department 3 times payment.
Ruined driving holiday.
Ruined driving holiday!
I reserved a small car several months before my holiday as I was visiting small villages with narrow streets and limited parking. I had also rented a garage for a small car.
When I arrived at the rental desk I was told there were no small cars available and I would have to take a larger SUV, despite Enterprise having accepted my early reservation. I complained at the rental desk and again in the collection garage but was told both times that I had no option but to take the larger vehicle. The inevitable happened and one of the wheels scraped on a kerb for which I was charged just under £400 by Enterprise. To make matters worse, my reservation was for a manual/ petrol but the SUV was automatic/hybrid!
Enterprise has been my rental company of choice in the past but I'll look elsewhere in future!
Do not hire a car from Enterprise cars…
Do not hire a car from Enterprise cars Geneva. We have been trying to get hold of this company to reclaim £1400 they have stolen from our bank by falsely claiming damage on their car that we hired . The photo evidence they sent us is exactly the same as the ones we submitted at the beginning of our journey. The damage was there before ! The damage we had reported to them! We have now found a Facebook group where many other people have encountered the same scam. There is something very corrupt happening within this establishment and Enterprise Cars should be looking into this franchise. Easy Jet should not be promoting these people. In our opinion Enterprise Geneva are committing a crime and need investigating .
Lack of maintenance
My brother in law hired a car from ALAMO at the airport of Geneva to visit me. The car run without problem until it was time to leave for the airport. It was an early cold morning in the mountains and the car refused to start, nothing worked or turned on, no sound from the starter motor, no dashboard lights nothing. There was no time to loose After explaining the case on the phone to the emergency number, I had to drive him to the airport 165km away immediately. The handling by ALAMO at the airport was done and he could take the plane home. However two months later he found that ALAMO had withdrawn the full deposit from his card, 10 084 SEK. ALAMO claimed repair costs and roadside assistance. The problem was a faulty battery that was changed. I see this as a lack of maintenance, a good battery should work with no problem at a temperature around zero. I do not understand why ALAMO do not cover this themself. it was obviously a faulty battery from the beginning. What is more the amount withdrawn does not correspond to the invoices shown.
Worst car rental experience ever
Worst car rental experience ever. Wish I had seen these reviews before. I just realised that this is what they do with all their customers. Get them to pay for damages that weren't there. They are scammers and crooks. Been months now and they are going on charging me with admin fee even after I have paid everything.
