Polite, helpful and fast customer service
I've been with them for over a year now and have been very pleased with the customer service. They respond to emails very quickly. One email got a response within fifteen minutes! She explained why two of my test emails weren't delivered. I realised that my email account had a major problem that blocked all emails. I wouldn't have realised that without emailoctopus' support. I didn't expect this quality help for a customer on a free account. I look forward to expanding to a paid account someday.

Great initial experience
New customers of EO and getting things set up has been a lot simpler and easier than other alternatives I was testing.
Any questions we have are answered promptly and accurately (as opposed to quoting a help articles that aren't helpful, like another provider being trialled).

Disappointing experience
Disappointing experience. We signed up for a free account to test the service, but within minutes, our account was restricted without sending a single email. If this is how they treat potential new customers, it speaks volumes about their service quality. Unfortunately, it’s a 1-star from us.

Sorry to hear you didn't make it through our review process. Our approval rates are in excess of >90% so while most users do get approved there are occasions where we cannot confidently support a user. This is more common in industries such as gambling or cryptocurrency – the latter of which you're in. These industries are subject to additional scrutiny, simply down to the amount of fraud and spam linked to them.
It's our role as a responsible email marketing provider to limit the exposure of the internet to such scams, and that's why in this case it's likely we've taken a defensive approach. But if you reach out to the team with more details about what you're planning on sending, and to whom, we'd be happy to take a second look.

I tried to subscribe but they denied my subscription after 1 minute. I never used any email service in the past, so that was no reason for that and not violated any rule. Also they didn't provide any reason for that, denying a subscription after 1 minute doesn't make any sense! I don't suggest this service.

Intuitive and easy to use!
EmailOctopus is a super intuitive and easy-to-use email marketing system. I've tried a bunch of them over the last few years and I can't see myself switching now. I am not super technically literate, but EmailOctopus makes it so easy. Support is always super quick and helpful too!

EmailOctopus doesn't do enough to prevent spam
[UPDATE]
The company has reached out and has taken action against the spammer. I still believe that explicit opt-in email confirmations should be used as soon as an email address is added to their systems to combat unsolicited email more effectively.
However it would be unfair to keep up the one star rating, while the staff has now reached out, acted and is cooperating. Therefore, I have amended the rating to three stars.

After receiving several annoying spam emails I found out that the spammer uses EmailOctopus to execute his spam runs.
EmailOctopus seems to have some form of anti-spam policies in place, but these are only applied after the spam has been already sent, because it's primarily based on bounce rates and spam traps.
What they should do is explicit opt-ins of recipient email addresses instead of assuming that their users have permission to use the email addresses. This is what separates serious marketing agencies from spam farms.
Of course I contacted their support to complain about the spam I received, but their support is extremely slow to respond.

Thanks for taking the time to feedback. We do indeed have anti-spam policies put in place, both proactively and in response to reports made by users. You can see our proactive approach is not always popular, as demonstrated by our other Trust Pilot reviews – but we also know we cannot and will not catch everything, so we thank you for taking the time to report the instance you received.
In terms of a response, we received your email at at 1401hrs today and responded to it at 1510hrs. I appreciate that an hour is a little while to wait and we're striving to get that timeline down, however with it being a bank holiday – our team are off on holiday – and therefore are picking up the emails as/when we can fit it in. I'm sorry we didn't get to it sooner.

It’s a very easy platform to use and has all the features you need to run email campaigns. Dealing with their customer service is always easy and prompt. I will highly recommend them

I note you also have left a review after you were banned from Mailchimp. I wonder if you've mixed us up!
NOT RECOMENDABLE. AGRESSIVE SALES. INEXISTENCE SUUPPORT. VERY CAREFULL. ANY EMAIL MARKETING COMPANY ITS BETTER THAN THIS. AT LEAST ANY COMPANY GIVE WHAT THEY OFFER.
2 years ago it was a good beginners platform.
Nowadays its get suspicious deliverability information, no individual bounce information, untrustly bounces results as the platform bounces emails that are in use and i use. We subscrived a 28€ / month service, send 3000 of 75000 emails and after we recognize the fraudulent wheel of the platform we ask for the refund... no, no refund because we send thousands of mails (3000 of 75000 allowed).
After trying to verify with dns lines, the domain, their platform change the status from verified and wait a few, to propagation, to could not verify dns lines... they said "oh that its because your server isn't reliable..." well, i'm on one of the most secure, respectable AND reliable host server service so...
Beware, they are in business like the chikens... to get small amounts from the most number or anware persons and make their money, so, NOT RECOMENDED and go for ANY OTHER really any other because any other it would be better.
And after the answer to my review here is an answer of the same type they do always, that is, blaming the client, blaming the server where the client has is files, blaming IP, blaming missconfigurations in DNS...
No, none of this was missconfig, just check any dns verifier (since we dont change anything since...) and anyone can check the referall domains to.
And of course the tipical answer: " Oh you send a lot of bounced emails..."
Yes, bounced by your platform... Bounce by yor system that is everything but not reliable!!
The costumer support as anyone can imagine by their answers, is "You have the blame, your server has the blame, you are dum and you dont know nothing..." its this kind of answers ot their support team if we could call them that (i've seen better support team in simple shop websites).
As a marketing partner, EmailOctopuss FAILED...
And... in a 3th response to our review they say they dont have a sales team when we dont mencioned any sales team but a support team so its clearly they attents to create confusion so the readers get confused... so, theyre very rare bird people this website.
And yes, agressive sales since what they offer in website it'not deffenitlly what they sell.
And for last, incapable to argument facts with their lies and more of obsolet answers as the ones they give, they classified this review as harmfull.
In four words: CAREFULL, DEFINITIBLY NOT RECOMENDABLE

I'm sorry you found our sales aggressive. We offer an industry leading free plan, with no requirement to upgrade to a paid plan. We also do not have a sales team, nor conduct any form of sales activity – so it's a slightly bizarre comment for us to receive, but we'll try to take it on board!
In respect of your other comments. As you mentioned, the emails you sent had a high bounce rate. This was as a result of your domain having DMARC in place and the SPF record was not set for EmailOctopus.
Due to your DMARC settings, it was a requirement that you set-up SPF and DKIM to ensure delivery, which you did. However these take up to 48 hours to propagate. That is a technical requirement based on how the wider internet functions, we'd love to make it quicker – but it's out of EmailOctopus's control!
I do though appreciate sending emails out quickly is important, however, in this scenario we need to wait for your own DNS server to update. Until it has updated it will (like any server!) provide an inconsistent, unreliable response. I'm sorry you took that to mean we were offending you on the quality of your server and hope you understand it was terminology, perhaps lost in translation.
In any event, we appreciate the feedback and are glad you have enjoyed using us over the years. I'm disappointed you weren't able to stick around to try the platform after those records had successfully validated to continue using our service.

At first, things seemed fine however after an email blast there was a 35% bounce rate. I then received an email saying they'd suspended my account. This was frustrating but I accepted however it transpired they had also deactivated the links in my email blast so people who did receive the email couldn't follow the links. Very embarrassing from a business perspective.
Save yourself the trouble - there's plenty of other email services.

As you mentioned, the email you sent had a 35% hard bounce rate. This means that there are a lot of email addresses which don't exist, many of which will be fake emails and spam traps in your list.
Unfortunately this is a strong indicator that the list is of poor quality and as a result we disable the account to protect end-users from spam and phishing. This consequently disables the links which is a massively important step, both legally and to preserve the integrity of the system.
Our recommendation in the future would be to ensure your contacts have opted in to receive emails and that permission is recent. Sending spam ultimately will result in a ban from the service.

Never experienced a more complicated mailing service ever! Moreover, once you buy their premium plan and it doesn't work from day 1, they even don't want to reimburse under the pretence that you used their premium plan although didn't use for 1 day even! PURE RIP OFF!

As we have previously mentioned on Support, you signed up for the service over 20 days ago, successfully sending thousands of emails over the course of multiple campaigns. It's therefore disappointing to read inaccuracies stating it didn't work since Day 1.
At EmailOctopus we're happy to offer refunds where there are genuine mistakes or issues which are our fault, however in this specific instance where the account was well utilised and subsequent email marketing advice ignored we would not be willing to refund the £12 payment under the threat of negative reviews.
