I always renew my car tax on our 4 family cars by phone, and have always managed well, paying by credit card.
The systen was slick, the male voice reassuringly sure-footed, the enunciation crystal clear, and the pace sensible.
Obviously, something that ain't broken has to be repaired...people just can't leave well alone, so some imbecile changed the whole thing so that there is now a feverishly high-pitched, urgent-sounding, scratchy-voiced, female conducting the whole thing, with poor enunciation and an irritating lack of any form of tempo.
(To be honest, at first I thought it was Liz Truss, with her very unfortunate speaking voice, which always grated on my poor ears!)
The whole experience has been made quite unpleasant, and I ask myself just how far dystopia will try to infect every aspect of our lives.
I tried to email DVLA, but the email addresses on their website...wait for it...elicit an automated reply asking one to refer to their website for the correct email contact address!
Yet another sad thing that could and should have been left alone, but that has instead had the cold hand of 'improvement' blight it.
This country's really on a hiding to nowhere, and it's so sad to see talentless individuals posing as geniuses gradually adversely affect our lives.

I had my driving test in Bromley test centre today and it was a very positive experience. My examiner was a lady called Eva. She was extremely kind and made me feel comfortable.
Absolutely useless
Absolutely useless. Would give 0 star if possible. The woman on the answerphone gabbles and thus it is not possible to get through without making 3-4 calls. The staff do not seem to know what job they are in. I have been trying to get a v55 for my disability scooter for over a month. It is illegal to use it above 4 mph without the v55.

Absolutely awful website!! It's designed to take you around and around in circles until you go mad and give up.
Was sent a letter saying I would only need a couple details to access an account, go to their shody little website and it wants my life story.
Reluctantly enter my life story and it says something along the lines of 'sorry info incorrect' checked and triple checked the info.
Attempt to contact further met with continuous loops around the site... reluctant to phone as every review says either 'rude'or 'useless'
The website is just about as useful as the government itself to be completely honest.

Completely useless and rude
They had me hold for an hour, took all the information (the former owner of my flat has a fine against her and her drivers license is still linked to my flat - I want it removed) and they then told me to WRITE ALL THAT DOWN AND POST IT TO THEM! They said they might get back in touch in six weeks.
It's 2023 - the DVLA should be able to verify identity and complete tasks online. Also, their webchat people are rude and dismissive. They are literally pointless. I've had to get my lawyer to do it for me as I can't get anywhere. Really glad I don't drive anymore and never have to deal with them. Terrible experience and one that we all pay for.

Disappointed
can’t tax my motorcycle after it was sorn telling me it has no MOT when it is still new. No automated service is sorting that out. Every line meets a dead end. So rude!
DVLA don't care
So I went for the early morning call to try and get through to medical. called bang on 8am, got through the options at 8:03am, asked to be put through, and got the 'busy' automated' message. Called back and spoke to a Welsh guy called David. I explained the situation and asked if he could look at my record to see if anything had change. He said he couldn't and could only put me through to medical. I said his colleague had managed to look at my record to see if their was any update. He said he couldn't as he wasn't medically trained, and just put me through to the automated message. Surely checking my record was just an IT customer service thing? So David, incompetent, didn't care and wanted to get off the phone. I feel a complaint coming on.......

Very, very bad!
I send two letters proving my exemption, one first class few months back, one 2nd class signed for on the 10th of May 2023 and on 5th of June I received a letter dated 29th of May that they want more money instead of refunding me.
Today next day delivery is send and I will sue them if harrassment still last!

Update: two days ago 13.06.2023 I received letter reply from DVLA toy second letter dated 10.05.2023.
Letter stated that they cannot make a refund of overpayment by DD and I need to pay for another 6 or 12 months to receive refund.

Today, 15.06.2023 I received lettet from recovery team asking to pay fine and tgreating me that my vehile is not taxed.

Never received new license
I applied for a change of address on my driving license 2 MONTHS AGO. Called twice 2 enquire but it never arrived. both times I was told I'd have a new one issued, but still nothing. I called this morning to be told that I didn't put the full address on the application. surely if that was the case, they'd have at least contacted me to check the details or just refuse the application. I HIGHLY doubt they'd accept applications without full addresses, so to blame the applicant/customer is an extreme lack of professionalism/customer service and laziness in working practises and processes.

DVLA urgent problems.
Disgusting service, well NO service at all. Tried ringing constantly for 3 days, no reply. Ask for a call back, haven’t received one. Tried E mailing the given address, it states “not a valid recipient”. I’m a Civil Servant myself and realise DVLA have a backlog but this excuse is wearing thin. This is a matter of urgency for me as it could result in a change of role or loss of employment if I do not have a current driving licence. I do not want to become another unemployment statistic due to Administrative failure. I also would not want my colleagues to provide this kind of inadequate service to the general public.

Applied for trade plates - all docs in order, sms confirmation of receipt of docs and now nothing. DVLA robots won't even check my application until exactly 4 weeks have passed, 26 days not long enough - I can't trade without trade plates - utterly useless and the staff give the impression that they just don't care

Waiting for a return on my V5…
Waiting for a return on my V5 application. It's been weeks and i still can't drive my vehicle without a registration number. I've paid £128 to register & tax the vehicle. The tax is running out day by day but i'll bet they won't refund me the waiting time. DVLA needs updating. Hopeless and useless.

Absolutely useless......trying to renew…my driving licence, have given them my NI number, DOB, passport number, address, mother's maiden name, driving licence number and keep getting this stupid error "It has not been possible to use your passport photo on your driving licence as DVLA have been unable to confirm your identity online!!!
