trying to put private plate on my car i usually do it on line and it takes a few minutes easy peasy... however this time i had to post all paper work i called few days later to make sure they had it i gave tracking number ,all good just a 4 week wait, rang on 4th week to chase up to be told they hadnt recieved anything from me i luckily still hasd tracking number i gave it them again to be told id have to re apply even tho theyve lost my paper work utter joke and mostly rude phone staff try to be little you so u lose temper and they can hang up on you

What a joke. It takes an age to try and apply for change of address. Website constantly crashes when you submit anything, I have had to start over time and time again.

Clearly the government haven’t got anyone who knows how to do anything right and it’s the same with this absolutely trash website. Utter joke.

Absolutely SHOCKING. Their failure and despicable behaviour it reflects on the useless government we sadly have. How is dvla still operating it’s beyond me. Full of bullied cowboys and cowgirls, most probably single people that have no idea of a family life. SAD

Why isn’t there a ‘no’ stars category? The DVLA deserve it. The on-line driving licence renewal refuses to accept cross reference details of new passports that have manual signatures. No warnings and no explainations.

I have recently came off a ban and been trying to renew my license. I applied 3 months ago! After getting told it takes 3 weeks to process applications. Constantly having to ring them up for them to be too busy to even answer my call or put me in a cue. When I finally get through to them I’ve been told they need to send me a medical questionnaire form, then why couldn’t you just send it?!? Instead of me having to chase you up. This is the only company that can make me rage this much, it’s an absolute joke! Now I will probably have to wait weeks just for you to send me a form which could have been sent months ago, I need my license for work ! And I need my birth certificate back! You have no consideration for anyone’s life’s that you’re effecting! My application has obviously just been sat there not getting any progression! Dreading the amount of time I’ll most likely have to wait after sending this form back. The amount of hate I have for this shambolic company is unreal.

Absolutely disgusting. They are now sending fines to everyone for everything. And making it very hard for motorist and motor traders . We as a nation need to fight back like in London. Big brother is almost here.

possibly the worst automated system i have ever dealt with, how many times can you go round in a circle and still not speak to someone and end back up at the beginning. Typical DVLA maybe if they went into the office instead of complaining and wanting more money and beingbeing at home watching the tv things may get completed.

Tried to change my address on my driving licence. Repeatedly tells me I haven't made any changes. If this is an example of the public sector then no wonder we are in the state we are in. Amateur hour to ay the least.

Absolutely useless, tried taxing my vehicle online, the v5c reference number is not being recognised, tried calling them to get help, and just get a recorded message saying "we're unable to take your call at this time, goodbye"! I need this vehicle to get to medical treatment, I bet they'll have plenty of staff available to issue me a fine though! Absolute wast of time!

Been waiting nearly a year after my ban finished to get my license back. DVLA are not fit for purpose! They move a lot faster when collecting fines though!

From day one it's been a horrendous experience February 16th I was involved in a serious RTA with multiple injuries including a brain subdural haematoma for which I was advised by the hospital medical team I needed to notify DVLA which of course I did in March (I was in hospital for 2 wks). I heard nothing despite calling 6 weeks later to be told there were NO RESTRICTIONS ON MY LICENCE (basically I could drive). So I replaced my written off vehicle and was driving. I wasn't notified (again by letter) until June 6th that I couldn't drive. It is now September 12th almost 7 months since my accident and still haven't got my licence reinstated despite providing updated a Neuro Consultant's clinical report and CT scan both proving I am fit to drive. I can NEVER get through to the DVLA Med Dept lines are constantly busy, when you can get through (at 8am you get conflicting advice). Also can someone tell me why everything takes 10 working days to be scanned onto your records it's the 21st century for goodness sake! Absolutely dreadful service negatively impacting peoples' lives daily. I live alone I'm 67 years old and still working. I have today sent by next day delivery a D1 vehicle application form (conflicting advice said I didn't need to) my licence, copies of complaint letters copy of scan and report (let's see where this gets me) I have also had an MP complain on my behalf. I am now PRIORITY (which means absolutely nothing). This situation has caused me horrendous stress and anxiety and had negatively impacted my mental health as I live about 30 miles from my family I am isolated and alone and feel nobody in the DVLA gives a damn!

Constantly freezing, absolute waste of time.

Driving licence renewal on line is absolute garbage.
Both my wife and I received renewal letters from DVLA.
Tried to complete applications on line to be advised we don’t have driving licenses to renew !!
Then we got locked out and had to revert to applying at post office which cost an extra £7-50 each.
Typical shambles from a government body.

I can not put into words how poor the Dvla are. If you can ever get through they cannot sort problems out. I have been waiting 9 months for them to sort a problem, with no update or information back from them. The same people are asking for more money and say they are under paid. If you pay was on performance or if you worked for a private company rather than a government body you would all be fired.

What a joke of a department (DVLA) they dont give a dam, they become a bullying government department

Absolute flucking joke! Been trying to change my address on my licence but for one reason or another they wont let me. Phoned them so many times just to be cut off after 15 mins, try to email them and it comes back saying to write a letter that could take a month for a reply.... Gang of useless money robbing ball bags, no problem in making sure they collect there money from fines or interest tax when it's them causing it!!

Did a change of address online and sent my cut up licence back to DVLA yet after nearly 2 months they have no idea what I'm on about. I've tried unsuccessfully to sort it out and if could give them minus star ratings I would.

If i could score lower, I would! I have always resented the day I need to contact them as they are a bunch of useless overpaid bureaurats this country has ever seen. They hold the country to ransom as they have a monopoly and we have to go through them and hence they have literally no incentive to improve. I have spent countless hours with them on the phone to get absolutely nowhere.

I would prefer to speak to a dead cat, before talking to them, but alas the powers at be want me to suffer.
