Very sad pie
Very sad pie! Yesterday I purchased a beef and ale pie from the deli counter. It was £4.99. For a single pie. I’m trying to be fair. The pastry was good, but there was no hint of ale. There were three pieces of nice beef and one large piece of fat and tissue. That wasn’t nice. !! There was a lot of onion and carrots in it.. not what I expected at all. It really was very disappointing., overpriced,, a waste of money and I certainly won’t be buying one again.

I’m disappointed to say that my recent experience at Darts Farm fell well short of expectations. While the setting and range of products are undeniably appealing, the service and attitude of the staff were extremely disappointing.
From the moment I arrived, I was met with a lack of basic courtesy. Staff were not only unhelpful but also came across as rude and condescending. Rather than feeling welcomed, I felt as though I was an inconvenience simply for asking questions or needing assistance. It was uncomfortable and left a lasting negative impression.
Customer service is a crucial part of any visit, and unfortunately, it was severely lacking during mine. I had expected a friendly, community-driven atmosphere, but instead encountered dismissive and unprofessional behavior. I hope Darts Farm takes this feedback seriously, as the experience did not reflect the reputation it claims to uphold.
Darts Farm a great Devon place to visit
Ok, I am looking at these reviews and I think they must be going somewhere else quite frankly.
The food is just lovely; yes, it is a little on the pricey side; however, it's all local farm goods, so that's why it costs a little more as they pay more for it. My wife and I have been using Darts since it was just a shed; it's been wonderful to see a local business grow so successfully.
Yes, here is the BUT… and it's from the wife, so you know it's important. The Earl Grey tea brand has been changed, and it is awful; apparently, Aldi’s Earl Grey Tea is now better. So, Darts management, correct this forthwith. My wife would rather pay 20p more and have the brand back; the wife is never wrong with this sort of thing, so just do it.
In short, Darts is an amazing place for a pit stop or a meet-up; you'll love it. It's also very family-friendly and includes the four-legged members as well.
Bad smelling toilets at Darts Farm
Every time I visit Darts Farm I am shocked by how bad the toilets smell. It is a lovely food market and a nice environment to shop for interior items but the rank smell of uncleaned toilets always ruins the visit. Plus they are right next to the restaurant!
Gone downhill
I've always loved Darts Farm and felt like it was what Devon is all about. I grew up with Darts on my doorstep. Having lived away for a decade, I have come back and it's just not the same. I have just left having been conned out of £4.70 for a coffee. This is more than I was paying in London. The same coffee was £4.10 a week ago. How can the cost inflate by 60p. in a week. Not only that, the staff are rude and unfriendly. They don't take amex because of 'expensive fees' - yet can charge customers such outrageous prices. If you are going to charge such premium prices, please do train your staff to match that level of service.
I used to love coming to Darts Farm
I used to love coming to Darts Farm and always had a coffee or lunch whilst I was there, either with a friend or on my own. Sadly this is no longer the case. The new coffee shop may look very smart but the customer service staff need to be trained. We arrived at the coffee shop and had to wait for a member of staff to show us to a table - why do people need to be shown to a table in a coffee shop? This practice is very off putting when you are on your own. We were sat on 2 very high and uncomfortable bar stools and kept for about 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. The staff behind the counter were doing very little, for much of the time and the other member of staff kept disappearing. In the end we were able to place our order, but we had to go out of our way to get some attention. When it finally did come, we enjoyed what we had ordered, but by that time our legs had gone numb on the uncomfortable stools. We had to wait again to pay. The old system of queuing to order and pay for your order and then being allowed to choose your own vacant table, was far more efficient and enjoyable. Sadly you will no longer be my one of my go to destinations.
Ordered rolled stuffed chicken joint
Ordered rolled stuffed chicken joint. Looked lovely, when sliced it was 3/4 stuffing very little chicken, had little chunks of chicken as unable to slice as not enough chicken, just full of stuffing. Will not use again definitely would not recommend. Waste of time and money.
Dear Darts Farm …
Dear Darts Farm …
We have just left your cafe and have been surprisingly dissatisfied with the level of service. Five meals all came out at different times over a 20 minute period and we complained about the lack of filling in an expensive delux sandwich. When the sandwich was returned it had a long dark hair in the filling so my daughter took it back to the counter. None of your staff apologised or offered a replacement- I think k they were all inexperienced weekend staff and there didn’t seem to be a floor manager around to take over. No one came back over to the table to apologise or offer any alternative or even acknowledgment. Not whatever would expect of an award winning farm shop and certainly tainted our perception of Darts Farm.
POOR EXPERIENCE
Arrived for a breakfast on 29th December, and ordered 2 mushrooms on toast which eventually came after a good wait, cold, brought this to the waitresses attention who said she would get this sorted but we would have to wait as they had a lot more orders to prepare. She then came back and said we could not have exactly what we had ordered as the stone oven had been changed to lunch menu. We were told we could have something similar which we agreed to, this again came after a long wait, and again stone cold...by this time my husband had long finished his breakfast and my elderly mum and I returned the second attempt at a very poor breakfast. For the prices charged it was a very very disappointed show. We were so looking forward to taking my Mum here and came away with not even an apology.
Christmas meat food poisoning
Christmas meat - gammon ham
Questioned grey spot on ham collected Christmas Eve, was made to feel very silly in front of other customers. Followed up as soon as I arrived home with dozens of phones call and an email, no answer/response.
Trusting their word and believing myself silly, served to family and young children. Horrific food poisoning.
By Christmas Day afternoon the entire ham was consumed by grey and myself and two children incredibly unwell come 4pm.
Spoilt Christmas. Unable to eat for 48 hours, 1 year old projectile vomiting, 7 year old screaming in foetal position next to the toilet, and an exhausted mummy trying to console both through intense stomach pain and D&V.
Really quite cross that my concerns over the colour of the meat were played down. Really should have trusted myself and demanded a refund.
Had an absolutely shocking experience…
Had an absolutely shocking experience here last week with my little girl. I wish I had complained and spoken to the manager at the time. But I was in complete shock, and burst into tears when I got home to my husband. I've shopped at Darts Farm for a very very long time and have spent a lot of money in the cafe, fish and chips, and gift shop. Sadly no more. We have shared our experience wide, and everybody was utterly shocked. We will not be returning.
So very disappointing
So very disappointing, bought chicken Kiev from Darts Farm butchers, when I last checked Chicken Kiev and garlic in it. No taste of garlic at all, had better from Tesco’s cheap Kiev. Definitely will not buy again, make my own next time.
Very poor experience just now
Very poor experience just now - sat 7th of sept - waited 20 min for two flat whites. Were told after 20 min we were next to get our coffees. They never materialised- we went up and left.
The staff were extremely little attentive.
Shame Darts Farm can't get proper staff.
Never again - we left with no coffee
Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs. Probably the worst customer service experience we have ever experienced. We had booked our daughters 21st birthday party at the farm table, 11 people 2 weeks in advance. 48hr before her birthday, Darts farm rang us and cancelled our booking, claiming that they had double booked with Exeter chiefs ' meet and greet'. They offered us another night but this did not suit all the arrangements we had made. George ( absolutely useless) said he would speak to his friends in the industry and find us another venue and would send us vouchers to compensate, 3 weeks later and we have heard absolutely nothing. It is obvious that Darts farm have lost touch with their customers who have been loyal for many many years. They need to recognise that not everything revolves around the corporate world, they need to remember where they started and what is important. We have now moved all of our business to other local suppliers and we now to continue to recommend others within our network do the same. Hopefully Darts Farm will learn that customer service is everything in order to be successful.

Don't waste your time or money going to Darts Farm. It is grossly over priced with very poor customer service too! When I very politely returned a sub standard breakfast, I noticed the waitress discussing me and looking annoyed...she was then very surly with me for the rest of service.
The prices throughout the store were extortionate. The standards have dramatically dropped since my last visit.
Friday delivery problem.
We ordered a hamper online for a Friday delivery. Unfortunately, we were given the wrong delivery address. The problem was highlighted by DPD on the Friday evening. Why ask for your phone number if they don’t use it?
Trying to rectify this problem on Saturday was impossible. DPD who had my number didn’t call to raise the problem on Friday. You cannot speak to a person at DPD and the only way to sort this out, according to the computer generated answer machine, is through Dartsfarm.
Only, no one from the online team at Dartsfarm is available to rectify the query on Saturday. You are snookered. No way around it.
I admit that we caused the problem but there is no solution available through Dartsfarm. I can only assume every single order is delivered with no problems.
This review would be one star but as we accept some responsibility, it has a much higher rating than it deserves.
Food poisoning
A friend and I had food in the cow & cacao cafe. However soon after our visit we both experienced food poisoning symptoms. My symptoms began before I’d even left the place! I sent an email to tell them of this experience but I didn’t even receive a reply. This tells you all you need to know about this establishments customer service. They clearly don’t give two of their very expensive figs!! It may be upmarket but don’t expect a high standard of food hygiene.
Just had a look around and coffee in the cafe.
Coffee is nice enough quality but a bit weak.
Service was quick.

Today at Darts Farm my husband bought a gift for our Grandchild. The girl that served him was soulless, made no eye contact, conversation - nothing at all.
I too work in retail and try very hard, however I may be feeling to smile, engage and greet the customer.
Pity she didn’t as it gives Darts Farm a bad name.

Great restaurant and really enjoy the breakfast whichis available all day. Staff really helpful and hard working young people.. where do they find them?!
Some silly prices in the shop and lots of pretentious customers, but that's understandable given the Tesla charging points in the car park.
