We were founded in King’s Cross, London, in 2013. We make men's and women's prescription spectacles and sunglasses. Each of our frames is handmade the traditional way, going through 50 stages of production before they are ready to adorn your face. Our London workshops also offer full eye exams.

Eye test nice and relaxed but not cheap
I visited Cubitts for an eye test which involved paying extra for an OCT scan. Compared to the opticians I normally visit the tests were at a relaxed pace as the whole procedure took about an hour. The consultation included any observations found on the OCT scan of my eyes which revealed a problem or two. The optometrist has asked me to follow up a problem which could be a family related condition by consulting my sister and reporting back to the optometrist for a possible referral. Would I receive this attention from other places ? I am not sure. The price for everything was £65 which is more than most opticians charge but I would say is worth it because of the slightly longer time taken for all the tests. I know Cubitts used to offer a discount on their frames if you visited them for an eye test. It would be nice to bring that back of course.

I wanted to share my experience at the Cheapside store.The way they guided me about the frame size was a great experience. During collection of my glasses they ensured the frame fit was comfortable and adjusted it without ruining its temple symmetry. I have used a lot of acetate and plastic frames in the past from the big brand optical stores, most of them ruined the temple symmetry when asked to adjust the frame and they will lecture you to make the lens thinner with no knowledge of frame size and fit. I was always told by other opticians that my ears are not at the same level, hence frame shape will not be balanced. The optician at Cubitts store never asked me to give a review, but they deserve a great rating, as they proactively checked the fit and shaped the frame. Thanks.
Kyrene provided excellent support
Kyrene provided excellent support. I was surprised that Cubitts would have service on a Saturday, a real person, solving issues that the website was having regarding produce inventory and allowing me to pay. She solved every issue, communicated back to me via email and phone calls. She was outstanding and I hope you recognise her for her customer service and focus.
An exceptional company!
From start to finish I have had an excellent experience with Cubitts in Covent Garden - intelligent, personable, helpful and welcoming in store with a lovely atmosphere. I was given honest advice which I appreciated. My eye test was easy to book in and also at a very high standard, above and beyond what I have ever had before. As I live outside of London my glasses were sent to me free of charge and came in a matter of days. Plus they are beautiful and it is normally very hard to get glasses that suit me. I love that fact that Cubitts are also a B Corp and Living Wage employer - you can really feel that the staff are happy and it is a cohesive and ethical business. All my family now plan to get their glasses from there. An exceptional company, thank you!
I am a total convert to Cubitts
I am a total convert to Cubitts. I bought some glasses from their Brighton store back in August. The service I received was outstanding. They were very helpful when I was choosing frames - which took a while as I liked nearly every style available! The staff were so knowledgeable and the measurements taken so thorough. I went to them with an existing prescription from which they made the glasses. They were what they call digital lenses: with a boost for reading. I also have quite a complicated prescription with a stigmatism and quite bad shortsightedness.
Over the years I have had varied service at various different opticians. A couple of times in the past it has been very stressful, changing glasses and prescriptions as I am very sensitive to alterations in my glasses. So I was nervous about these new lenses, but pleased that Cubitts had a 30 day period in which I could return, or change the glasses if I hadn’t got used to them. The staff were very helpful and reassuring about the process of adjustment. They told me that if I was still feeling odd 10 days in, I should contact them to warn them that I might need what they called a recheck. I asked how much this would cost considering the prescription was from another optician. They said no it would be included. It was part of the 30 day policy. I was very surprised and pleased to hear this.
At 10 days I informed them the glasses were still feeling a little odd and made an appointment for when I got back from holiday, for a recheck. This was with Hannah and it was in fact a very thorough full eye test. Hannah very patiently listened to what I was finding difficult in the glasses. I had an idea about a possible adjustment to the prescription which Hannah assured me she would investigate. This resulted in Hannah agreeing that it needed altering slightly but she also helped me understand that some of the oddness I was feeling was inevitable with the digital lenses, them being a precursor to full varifocals. This professionalism & proper attention was hugely reassuring.
The new lenses were ordered and I was told all I had to do was come into the shop to have them swapped over, therefore meaning I didn’t need to be without glasses at all when they were changed which I had been worried about.
I have got totally used to the glasses now & I love them. So comfortable & well fitted - as well as looking ace, which goes without saying with Cubitts glasses.
I would recommend Cubitts to anyone - I’m so so impressed. Thanks to everyone in the Brighton store for looking after me so brilliantly.
Frame Return
I ordered a frame that was advertised as 145mm length as a Large. When it arrived it was 150mm, in which it was too big for my head. There must have been an error on the website. Apart from that the glasses are really high quality and come with a lovely metal case. I called up Cubitts and they let me keep my frames for a week while the other frames were sent over, all without any payment! Customer service is 10/10. Thanks Cubitts!!
Quality issue with Cubitts lenses
Bought a pair of Cubitts glasses in November 22. They arrived well packed, on time, and I really liked the design of them.
4 months later, the coating on one lense had significantly deteriorated to the point that it was obscuring my vision due to discoloration of the lens. I sent a photo to Cubitts, and they replied saying "Thank you for your patience - I have received an update from our lab and they have confirmed that this is due to wear and tear." They then offered to fix this for £75.
I contacted them again in February this year regarding the issue, and received no reply.
The frames are great, but Cubitts clearly have a quality issue with the lense coating. For clarity, I've not had this issue with any other pair of glasses I own, and there is no difference in the wear that other pairs experience. I'm considering taking this issue to an ombudsman with regards to the quality issues, warranty, and potential breach of the Consumer Rights Act.

Poorest lenses quality I ever experienced
In my entire life I have never experienced such a poor quality of lenses. Even though they say they provide scratch resistant coating, the lenses got so much scratched after 6 months like plastic.
In 40 years using glasses, this is the first time I have to throw away my glasses after not even a year since I bought them for 250£!!!!!
Go somewhere else and avoid a complete waste of money.
Got 1 star only because it's not possible to give less.

Amateur & unreliable
Told 48 hours before order was meant to be received (on an already slow turnaround time) that there was a lense quality control issue (not particularised) and that this would be resolved on an unspecified timeline. Really quite shambolic - and the brand damage has only been compounded by an email exchange with (the ironically named) “customer services” that is as blasé as it is lacking in solutions/brand damage mitigation.

Customer service at it's best
Apart from having great glasses, the service at this place is impeccable. It just feels like they all love their job, despite how annoying i am asking to try on 100 pairs of glasses. Special shout out to their underrated optometry services and Dipa in particular. I seriously think she's going to be my optometrist for life.
Amazing service
Amazing service. I ordered online and got a message a couple of weeks later to say that the super thin glass I had added as an extra was not necessary with my prescription. This saved me £50 and I thought it was very ethical. When the glasses came I realised that I had ordered the medium frame instead of the large. Entirely my fault. Cubitts replaced them with the larger frame free of charge. I am really impressed with the service and the product.
