Went looking for a MTD VAT Bridge solution thats respects privacy, lots of 'free' Cloud solutions, but reading their reams of horrendous privacy policy pages (and those of their 'partners'), so they harvest your financial data and sell it on, to who knows who, and with what they do with it.

The Comsci Privacy Policy is nice and simple:
What we collect: No information is collected or transmitted to COMSCI or to any third parties

Open Source Software works perfectly, untethered - stand alone PC application (ie untethered to any 'metrics' gathering mother earth ship).
We created a one click Global Macro in Excel to define the cell names of the VAT Boxes of our quarterly Sage exported .xls VAT Return files, so the process is simplified.

Made a Donation to the Charitable cause.

Brilliant. 100PcVatFreeBridge runs local and your not locked into any cloud service thus avoiding any price hikes. It almost runs off grid (except to submit). This is a great package for a one man band like myself.

Been using this package for a couple of years and all I can do is confirm what everyone else says. It's easy to use, completely reliable and troublefree, as well as being free thanks to the generous giving of the author. His cause deserves support.

This software is written for companies that use bespoke spreadsheets for their accounts and are compelled by HMRC to submit their VAT returns electronically as part of MTD. It works by forming a bridge between the spreadsheet and HMRC's own computer system and I was surprised how easy it was to set up. Generally the bridge works by allocating cells in the spreadsheet 'names' that the bridge looks for and communicates the value of to HMRC as part of the return. The manual that accompanies the software is extremely well written in England by English speakers and enables the user to set up the system in less than two hours. I was doubtful that making VAT return submissions in this manner would be more straightforward than the old system of inserting values into an on screen form but I am pleased to have been proved wrong. The bridge is provided free of charge and the user is requested to make an online donation to a scout group. I read about other options for MTD before I found this software, some are free, others charge per return, the fact that I was given a choice to make a donation both gave me confidence in the software but also compelled me to give more than I would have paid if I had used other MTD software. The only downside is that this software works with Excel and not OpenOffice which means we have had to set up a separate VAT spreadsheet saved in .xls to make it work.

100% VAT Free Bridge software for submitting UK VAT returns is excellent - just put your figures in an Excel spreadsheet, save, tell the software where it is and it does the rest. Never had a problem with it and have used it for many years

Excellent piece of work by Comsci. It has helped to make life so easy to file VAT returns with Excel maintained record.

Just a great piece of software for VAT registered firms whose accounts are in spreadsheets and who now need to submit returns by MTD. If you can do your accounts in spreadsheets, you'll be able follow the clear instructions and tutorials on Comsci's website for how to configure your sheets for VAT submission. Uplifting that someone would do this much work and give it away in return for donations to charity. Thank you so much.

Used the Comsci free software bridging software to submit VAT returns under the HMRC MTD obligations. User guide and sofware app seemed adequate for setup and submission purposes. Early days but all seems OK.

So, after all the communications from HMRC, which scared me somewhat, as I did not think my small business justified a 'full-on' accounting package, I found 100PcVatFreeBridge. Having just submitted my second VAT quarter I can confirm that this is a fantastically easy piece of software to use. Very satisfied.

I have now used this for two small quarterly VAT submissions - which both worked perfectly. Installation was also straightforward. All it costs is a voluntary donation. Perfect.

I was unable to successfully upload the VAT return information. In desperation I sent an email to Comsci in the hope that they would respond. Too my surprise I received a prompt response from David. He was able to explain what I had done wrong and hey presto it worked. Can't thank them enough. I would highly recommend.

100PcVatFeeBridge is great. Does exactly what it says it does: enables me to comply with MakingTaxDigital for VAT even though my bookkeeping is in Excel. Simple, straightforward and reliable.

Fabulous. Faultless. Exactly what I wanted. Quickly and easily hooked up to my existing and long standing Excel based spreadsheet with no changes other than defining names against calculated cells. High quality video guides and user documentation show you exactly what you need to do.

Simple to use and linked to our existing VAT preparation very quickly, just 'named' the cells that we previously used to visually reference when entering manually into website. HMRC make it sound so much more complicated than it is (you are just sending in the box information in directly, no transaction level details are sent) and this useful piece of software does exactly what is needed. The instructions reference Excel but worked with OpenOffice as well. Thank you so much for for this. I have donated £20 to UK Scouts.
