I highly recommend this community…
I highly recommend this community union. In particular, I would like to give special thanks to Letitia McCalla , who supported me throughout my redundancy process. She attended every meeting with me and always offered advice and guidance. Thanks to her support, the whole process was much less stressful. I am very grateful for her help.

Preventative Advice Not Included
If you are considering joining for preventative advice or early support, don’t. Save your money. Community Union is perfectly happy to take your membership fee, but when you actually ask for guidance, you may find yourself met with rigid box-ticking and zero common sense.
I joined because I was planning to ask for a pay rise and wanted some professional advice on how best to approach the conversation. I had not opened a dispute, I was not in a grievance process, and I have never had any kind of formal issue at work. I simply wanted guidance.
I was told they could not help me because the reasons I was citing for a pay rise pre-dated my membership. Of course they did - that is rather the point of asking for one.
Apparently, you are only eligible for support if your workplace concerns conveniently begin after you start paying your subscription. The idea that someone might join a union proactively, before a situation escalates, seems entirely lost on them.
A thoroughly disappointing and frankly pointless experience. Don’t bother with these time wasters.

Katie and Community Union helped me…
Katie and Community Union helped me while fighting and Appeal upheld by my works. I am grateful to Katie especially for seeing and believing me. Not many unions I have experienced, have not helped me in the way Katie and Community have. I am truly grateful for the support they have provided me with and have been careful and professional with regards to my Mental Health and health issues exasperated by my work. A truly amazing union-thanks Deena Doyle!
My union rep is Deena Doyle. It is safe to say that without her, I would no longer be in the job I’m in. Community have supported me when I had no one to turn to and Deena has ALWAYS been on hand to lend support in any way she can. The best investment.
My monthly membership is easily the best investment I’ve made - I am so grateful for Community's support. The people are responsive, knowledgeable, supportive, and always easy to reach. It’s reassuring to know I have such reliable help on standby.

Grievance matter
I would like to thank Darren for his support through a difficult time. I'm so glad I joined the Communtiy Union as without Darren's support yesterday I don't think I would have gained the outcome I wanted. ⭐ Review for Rohan Steele & Paul Thomas – AA Union Representatives ⭐
I want to thank both Rohan and Paul for the incredible support they gave me during a very serious and overwhelming situation at work.
Paul was the first person I contacted, and he listened without judgment, reassured me when I was anxious, and guided me through everything with real care and patience. He was always available, made sure my wellbeing was looked after, and even provided me with the EAP details so I had proper emotional support. His kindness and calm approach genuinely helped me mentally through a very difficult time.
Rohan then supported me through the meeting process and was truly exceptional. He helped me stay calm, explained everything clearly, and represented me with confidence and professionalism. He consistently checked in on my wellbeing and made sure I felt supported and prepared throughout the whole process. His guidance made an extremely stressful situation feel far more manageable.
Both Paul and Rohan went above and beyond, and I’m extremely thankful for everything they did.

Relocation of work
I have been trying to relocate my work for years as was waiting for someone to leave company. Then this year it was given to me as someone left that area. Only to be taken away and no to move with 2 weeks to go till transfer.
Been in union for years on advise of my dad never used them. Until now so contacted Paul Thomas of community union.He listened to every thing I said. He said he can help me.

I recently had an disciplinary issue at work and my Union rep Paul Thomas, helped me immensely. I can't praise him enough. He helped with advice and came to
my meeting where he identified and pointed out actions by my management, that got me a result of no case to answer. Without his skills and foresight I don't think I would have had the outcome I did.

I recently went through a life changing…
I recently went through a life changing event and suffered with my mental health, consequently I needed help to stay in my job.
Paul Thomas my union representative, offered me support, understanding and guidance. It’s been a scary time, but I’m pleased to say, I still have my Job, I have felt supported at all my meetings and know I can call Paul Thomas anytime, he’s a Mental health first Aider as well as a very competent, confident, professional.
I was so pleased that I have been a member of Community union, I had to be guided, and I followed, I don’t believe I would still have a Job, if it wasn’t for the help of Community union and Paul Thomas.
Being a union member is something you forget about until you need to use it, I can’t tell people enough how important it is to join Community union, join today.

Misleading support
Joined as I told a union is there to support you in the workplace unfortunately I didn’t have this experience. Slow to respond basic advice and nothing really constructive looking back. To be informed that it’s too late to log anything with ACAS taking into account my experience so they will not support me due to insufficient information is a let down and feel I’ve wasted my time and money to be lead on useless advice. Go to a union that’s well known, I’m sorry I didn’t now.
At no point previously was I advised to log a claim while within the time when I was advised it was discriminatory. Advising that it is outside this so nothing can now be actioned is useless and mid advising Thanks for the pointless response

Good afternoon Lisa, and thank you for your patience while I investigated your complaint with our legal department.
I'm sorry to hear that you feel disappointed with the outcome of your case and your experience with Community. We take member complaints seriously and want to clarify the detailed process we followed when assisting you.
When you submitted your application for legal assistance, our legal team meticulously reviewed the information and evidence you provided, specifically in relation to potential claims of discrimination, harassment and victimisation.
As you will be aware, there are strict statutory time limits for lodging a claim with an employment tribunal, which is three months less one day from when the alleged act occurred. Unfortunately, the majority of the acts you referenced to us fell outside of this mandatory time frame. Furthermore, the in-time acts did not meet the legal threshold of being a "continuing act."
In relation to the specific matters that were technically still in time, our assessment, based on the evidence presented, concluded that it did not establish discriminatory conduct. In addition to this, the reasons provided by your employer for their actions were considered by our legal team to be ones that a tribunal would likely accept as non-discriminatory.
It is our responsibility to provide you with honest, accurate and expert legal advice based on the facts and the law, even when that advice is difficult to hear.
Based on the above, your claim had low prospects of success at an Employment Tribunal. Proceeding with a claim that has poor prospects carries with it a series risk of adverse costs being made against you by the tribunal, meaning you would be ordered to pay your employer's legal costs. We could not in good conscience support a claim that would expose you to this financial risk.
While we understand this outcome is frustrating, the legal advice provided by the Community team was accurate, and designed to prevent you from pursuing a path that was unlikely to succeed and could have incurred a significant financial penalty.

Attendance Meeting
Darren met me at the site prior to the meeting and covered our talking points beforehand. He was supportive and helpful considering the circumstances of him being my 2nd rep having come in at a later stage without full context of previous meetings. He did the best of his ability, however for future reference it would be most ideal to keep the same rep.
