A catastrophic and systemic failure affecting thousands of Civil Service Pension members!
My experience of Capita's administration of the Civil Service Pension Scheme has been nothing short of disgraceful.
After listening to the recent Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee (PACAC) hearing, I was deeply concerned by the picture presented. The reality experienced by thousands of scheme members is very different.
Call waiting times are nowhere near those reported publicly. When you finally get through, call handlers are often unable to provide answers or meaningful updates because they simply do not have the information.
The human impact of these failures is devastating. Bereavement cases have taken months to resolve, with one heartbreaking case where a member died before their pension issues were settled. Ill-health retirees have been left without the income they desperately need. People are facing mounting debts, risking losing their homes, postponing retirement, and suffering unnecessary stress because Capita has failed to deliver a basic public service.
Instead of resolving these problems, members are often given letters to show banks, mortgage providers or creditors explaining that their pension has been delayed. That is not a solution. It does not pay bills or provide financial security.
Capita had over two years to prepare for this contract. Claims that the Civil Service Pension Scheme is too complex simply do not stand up to scrutiny. Capita has previously administered this very same scheme and should have been fully prepared.
The priority now must be to ensure every member receives the correct pension, paid accurately and on time, together with appropriate compensation where Capita's failures have caused financial hardship or distress.
If Capita cannot deliver this contract to the required standard, it should do the honourable thing: admit that it is out of its depth, work with the Cabinet Office to ensure an orderly transition, and hand the service over to an organisation capable of delivering it properly.
Enough is enough. Civil servants have spent decades serving the public. They deserve far better than this.

Retirement should mean to those, who have provided a service during their working lives, a care free time to enjoy their living, spend more time with families and have the freedom that their retirement plans can offer.
Capita, so far have provided none of this. Their claims to be a lead in the field of delivery, entrusted by the Cabinet Office to deliver has catastrophically failed! I should have been in receipt of my pension, along with thousands of other Civil Servants, but Capita have delayed, lied, deceived and on occasion been downright rude. Our money is being held back. My money, my pension, promised to me back at the start, has not materialised. No quote, no estimation, no lump sum. Nothing.
You have to wait hours before you can talk to anyone, and then theres platitudes given. Nothing else!
Instead of enjoying my retirement, i will have to now pay back the loans and subs that I have had to live off. Thank you Capita for ruining my retirement.
Capita should now surge in personnel, increase their software capacity, start telling the truth, and provide a full written apology to the thousands of disaffected civil servants who are in the same boat as me.

Waiting over 10 months for my pension and it is still not sorted out. Constant phone calls to their help desk with the same old excuses about it being escalated to the back room. I have never had to go through all these hassle to get paid on Road to Millions so I am left wondering why they are finding it hard to do the same. Do not use the site.

Appalling company. Have decimated people's lives with their inability to run a pension. Bereaved partners, staff members with terminal illness and limited time left, staff wo have given, 20, 30, 40+ years of service ALL ignored and left to fend for themselves with ZERO income. The hollow 'sorrys' have long run dry. Shocking and unforgivable service. Shares in free fall and easy to see why. Do not touch this company if you can help it, misery awaits.

I am sad that I cant give zero. The fact that people are having to beg and borrow money to get by as Capita have such an enormous backlog and people are not getting their pension payments is outrageous.

1 star is lowest available score the way Capita have dealt with Civil Service Pensions should be well below this. No communication & no responsibility, shocking organisation

Absolutely disgraceful company.
Civil Service Pensions service is a complete farce.
Thousands of us have received no replies to correspondence no pension payments and the helpdesk can't help because they have no access to any information either.
Their portal is a complete joke.
They are failing on just about every measure.
They should be struck off.

Shocking pension service – still not resolved

My experience with Capita's pension administration has been nothing short of appalling. Months of delays, poor communication, and a complete lack of accountability have left me chasing for updates time and time again. Despite all this, my pension issue is still not resolved.

For an organisation responsible for people's pensions, this level of service is completely unacceptable. The stress, uncertainty, and wasted time this has caused could have been avoided with competent case management and clear communication.

I have lost confidence in Capita's ability to deal with pension matters efficiently or professionally. Based on my experience, I would not recommend their pension administration service. I hope this review encourages the company to take responsibility and improve the way it treats its customers

Absolutely appalling company, applied for my pension in September 2025, still waiting for a quote (July 2026).
Capita promised my MP that my case would be processed by 30 Jun 26, but nothing arrived.
They lie, misdirect and refuse to reply to contact requests.

If I could give this company minus stars i would. Customers of the civil service pension scheme that Capita delivers, including myself, have been treated horrifically. Handling of our applications has been incompetent. I and others have been left destitute for months. Communication is non existent - it can take over an hour to get through by phone and call handlers then cant give any useful information. I have sent multiple secure messages none of which has been replied to. My complaint to the executive team was initially acknowledged but then ignored.

Applied for my pension, 4 months notice as requested. Silence, no acknowledgement, no working portal or communication from this company. The frustration and stress caused by not processing the application is beyond words. I hope the thousands of public servants treated so badly will be rectified and Capita with their two year lead in and abysmal attempt to run the civil service pension scheme is removed from contract. Shame on the Government's for awarding contracts to a failing Capita, you have created and stood back allowing this fiasco to take place.

A shockingly incompetent company, you can not trust a word they say.

Business Management Consultant you call yourselves, is an absolute joke. Capita fail miserably on Business, Management & Consultanting. Thousands upon thousands or Civil Service retirees waiting for 10 months + & still waiting for our retirement pensions, those in bereaved,ill health situations, its an absolute disgrace. Excuse after excuse. Those who have eventually received there pension/ lumpsum do so without paperwork no explanation. Who in the 21 century operate like this CAPITA AKA CRAPITA. You have no integrity. Your staff I feel sorry for they can not answer our questions. You have taken every ounce of enjoyment out of us enjoying our retirement. Thanks for making us all feel so worthless at a time which should mean fun, peace of mind & enjoyment in our lives.

Utterly abysmal. Eight months waiting for a pension quote, completely ignore e-mails. Telephone 'helpline' wait times takes hours and even when you get through, the advice given is incorrect, misleading or disingenuous. If I could give Capita a minus number I would.

1 star becsuse thats the lowest score available. It should be minus 10. Retired 31 Dec and due to Capitas utter incompetence I still do not receive my monthly pension. The call centre either lies or promises payment and nothing happens. Capita is the Titanic of outsourcers

Watch the performance the CEO has given today 8th July at the UK government Public Accounts Committee and decide for yourself. They have not been able to administer the UK Civil Service pensions scheme since winning the contract. Pension scheme members are dying before getting their entitlement. The CEO is running the clock down - not big enough to admit they are going to ultimately fail and just waiting for that to happen. The UK taxpayer is footing the bill for their in competence and I suspect the CEO will swan off into the sunset with a massive wealth and not a care for the people he has let down. Shame on you Capita.

The most incompetent company ever, but amazingly they were given the contract of handling civil service pensions

Now thousands of people are facing hardship and facing years of work instead of enjoying the pensions that they have paid into.

The phone handlers are useless, my grandsons nursery has a better user portal than this shower and the updates are just lies after lies

This company exhists on false statements, does not have any standards to aspire to and in my honest opinion are criminals.
10 months of waiting for my pension... daily lies, mis information, poor communication, 3 hour waits for calls to be answered, regularly cut off and the jazz music they play haunts me.
Overseen by the Goverment... apparently... mysterious back offices that i dont believe exhist and the ever uttered call of ' ill escalate you'.. to where exactly?!!! Ive been escalated that many times im on the star link !
Avoid at all costs.......

If it were possible to give zero that's what it would be. After giving intention to retire in September 2025 and retired Feb 2026, I am still waiting for a quote of what I will receive, I will be lucky to start receiving pension this side of Christmas. Many thousands of people are in the same situation, Disgusting way to treat people who have given 20+ years service. I would leave a comment on their FB page but they have disabled commenting due to all the negativity already on there.
