a bottomless well that doesn't give water when you get sick, be sure they will find your shortcomings to show you the middle finger to your claims. Avoid!!!!!!

avoid like lice, you are a good customer to them as long as you pay your dues, as soon as you need the support you paid for then they release their hounds which aim to suppress your arguments. I do not recommend, avoid

Avoid this company. I've been off work for 5 weeks and company have advised me the deferred terminology means I don't get paid for the first 4 weeks. I have spoke to my FA and they have advised they have this resolved. When speaking today to British friendly they are still adamant it's only paid from week 4. No where on any documents in basic terms does it state no payments for the first 4 weeks. Can only claim from week 4 but want bank statements, payslips, contracts of employment, physio reports. Not the simple policy I was sold at all and gives me little reassurance or faith if I'm off sick long term I will be covered.

Amazing company. Since 2021 first diagnosis of breast cancer, then on return back to work months after… they were available to help me again due to after-effect shoulder/tendon problem along with providing me with a Second Opinion with a private surgeon. I can mention a few very helpful members of staff but sorry if I have forgotten anybody! Charlie, Natalie and recently Stephen Bew I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. nearing the end to find out diagnosis now and without British Friendly I would have lost my home.

Would not recommend this company. Very disappointed, sent updates and sick notes as requested but have stopped payments. Nobody available to speak to, need to wait 5 days for someone to look at my claim. My GP has decided I’m still not fit for work, however I need to wait to find out if your claim manager agrees!
Now awaiting a response from the complaints team!!

I'm currently trying to make a claim. Despite being diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer they've made me wait over 7 days to receive a Claim form via email. Still haven't received it. God knows how long the actual claim will take

Absolutely horrendous, as all the insurance companies we expect them to be liars but these ones are the cherry from the cake.
Long story short they charge you a sum per month and they tell you you'll get paid immediately in case of an accident that prevent you to work, how much you pay it's how much you get, I paid 40£ per month to get around 750£ per week as that was my income. Lies, they keep postpone you and they pay you using your last end of the year or p60. So if your income change over the year you will still pay the 40£ per month but if you get minimum wage they will pay you 70% of that meaning 300£ per week. If you get 100.000£ per year they won't pay 1300£ per week. No sir, they will pay the maximum 750£ per week so whatever is best for them.
And they pay you after about 2 months when you healed already, you must pay some premiums as well and it's really hard to get in contact with them.
I had 2 cracked ribs and my income had increased since last year when I was doing minimum wage, it has increased 3 times but they decide to pay me 188£ per week. A tot joke when I was making 1200£ per week.
Totally avoid, liars and thiefes. I'm still not done with them and I think I will need the help of an ombudsman to sort it out.
Again, avoid.

After spending well over an hour on my application for income protection I was declined due to my occupation. If you don’t cover my occupation then why waste my time with the application process when one of the first questions was regarding my occupation. Cheers for nothing.

Straight forward no hassle,Robyn my claims manager was excellent prompt with everything and clear with what I needed to send in,had a horrible ankle break that forced me from not working, paid weekly and money back dated.

I took out my insurance due to being single person had it for nearly 3 years and after one call I totally regret doing any business with this poor customer service company. If I ever need to use the insurance after reading some reviews I don’t think they will help. Think it’s company of crooks. I would stay well away from this company. They blame everything on the financial advisor I used when setting up policy. Happy to take your money that’s it . Very poor customer service on phone.

Second time i've had to make a claim the first was in 2016. Both times the claim has been handled very efficiently & quickly. Received a call from Debbie who was very pleasant & explained the process clearly. Can't fault.

The team from start to finish were wonderful. Quite in-depth forms to complete in the beginning but that’s as it should be considering what you are claiming for. No problems what so ever, 1-2 members of staff as a point of contact throughout and very happy with my claim as a whole.

Fortunately have never had to use BFS but in the recent weeks have communicated about next steps as I turn 60!. Very helpful advise from Wendy Cartwright and good to know that I have a trustworthy back up plan.

Been with BF for over eight years. Had a bad motorbike accident in 2017 and recently had major surgery. Premiums have gone up, as all insurance does, but they have been excellent. They have made some very difficult situations less stressful, and prompt payments and very good communication throughout. Highly recommend this company.
