Subscription has ruined a fantastic app.
I loved this app before the update. I used it everyday for years and I've had £290 worth of vouchers just for walking my dog. Now it's just not worth the time or effort to collect 5 biscuits a day. I'll be keeping the app until I have another 100 biscuits and my last £10 voucher and then I'll be deleting it. Such a shame.
I loved it to begin with but I don’t…
I loved it to begin with but I don’t like the new changes. Now earn 3 biscuits for a walk when it was 25. It hardly seems worth it now.
I don’t want to pay a subscription and I don’t want to change pet insurance so may just delete the app now
Rubbish changes
We've been using biscuit for a couple of years and it's been fantastic. It really does encourage you to get out and about with your dog. The recent changes are absolutely useless. You now have to pay a monthly fee to gain a decent amount of points but the vouchers are no easier to achieve because you still need the same amount of points 🤷🏻♀️ so it's just not worth it. We're not far off our next voucher and once we've got it, we are deleting the app.
I loved it but the recent changes have…
I loved it but the recent changes have made it not worth it
I can't change insurance as we have a lifetime illness no ne else would insure so can't upgrade
A free tracker would nice but I already have a tracker subscription making the rewards etc an utter waste of money for me and I feel it's unfair to an already responsible owner that can't make the changes required
Utterly gutted as it really was fun
Sad time for Biscuit users…
After 2 years of building a substantial database by the company, and advertising the app widely, everything changed basically overnight. A paid version of the app was somehow anticipated but not in the way it was launched. I always thought the basic version would stay as it was and a new “premium” will bring additional features and quicker way of earning biscuits for those who are keen to pay for the extras. But that’s not what happened. The basic app has become the chargeable premium and the free one was dragged down to the absolute minimum, not worth tracking walks and the heavy drain on the phone battery.
The transition got me halfway through to earning another voucher so I’m using the app until I reach the point I can make the last exchange. Then I’ll uninstall it. It doesn’t feel like pleasure anymore but a nuisance. My patience is taxed every day seeing how slow the process of collecting points is, and the adverts, popping up with sound on, get on my nerves.
Not worth a biscuit anymore.
The new format is not worth it. It would take me 240 dog walks to get £10 off deliveroo. The app has gradually changed over the last few months. It used to be brilliant, easy, ad free and of great value. The creators have now gotten greedy and I shall be leaving. By the look of all the recent reviews, I am not the only one. Such a shame, sponsors got loads of extra business from the scheme but I am guessing this will slow down now.
Used to be worth it but now the 25…
Used to be worth it but now the 25 biscuits reduced to 5 even though you now have to watch adverts is not worth it anymore, time to delete app
Deleting the app
Deleting the app, 5 points a walk is not worth it will go back to strava
Such a shame
Such a shame. Its been great whilst it lasted and I always knew the day would come when they would have to go the paid subscription route. Sadly just not worth it now. I reckon I best cash out my banked biscuits before the app disappears cos looking at all the negative reviews since the change it won't be long
I've stopped using the App
Following a recent change by the Biscuit operaters where I now only get a 5 Biscuit reward for each Daily Goal Challenge, instead of 25, it'll now take me about 230 days to accrue enough Biscuits to earn a £10 M&S voucher, where originally it used to take me about 40 days.
Hence, I've stopped using Biscuit to record my dog walks. I don't consider it's worth it.
I could pay £3.99 a month, and with the bonus incentives, it'd take me about two months to earn sufficient Biscuits to get a £10 M&S voucher, but I'd be paying £8 for the privelege.
My dogs insurance is due renewal later this summer, so I'll see how competitive Wagel are in comparison to what I'm quoted by other providers, and if they're good, I'll start using Biscuit again. But for now, I think their recent changes have been to their detriment, and all of the other dog walkers I know that use Biscuit, are following suit.
Plus, one thing I used to like about Biscuit was that there weren't adverts. The first thing that happened when the new format was introduced was I had a Temu advert pop-up.
No thanks!
Harder and harder to earn a reward…
Harder and harder to receive a reward to the point now that it's not even worth your time and effort doing.
They say to join their partner insurance company to get Biscuits plus for free, but their partner company changes each year, don't be fooled to change from your current insurance provider just for the biscuit subscription.
If I could give zero stars I would
If I could give zero stars I would. What a sell out. I have used this app for years and feel very let down by this new update. Usually if you pay a subscription you get EXTRA but in this case, you get the same as you used to get for free and now, if you use the app for free you only get 1/5 of the points you used to get, PLUS ads.
I've been using this app for a while…
I've been using this app for a while now and it was great. Unfortunately they changed the number of biscuits you needed to get a voucher and now they have introduced a £3.99 subscription fee and also the app now has adverts. Very sad that it will take a year to get a £10 voucher for using the app everyday. Disappointing1
For the free version, it's not worth the time it takes to open the app and watch adverts
Biscuit launched in 2022, originally aimed at less-affluent (voucher-collecting) dog owners. Biscuit Pet Care, the company behind the app, secured £3 million in seed funding. At that time, customers traded their personal (targeted dog-friendly marketing) data for receiving "biscuits" which could be used to buy vouchers. This data included microchip ID numbers, (which were mandatory should customers want to receive coffee or supermarket rewards), when vaccinations were due, etc. When the app is installed, 68 vendors are asking for your consent; 34 vendors are NOT asking for your consent
The data was used by pet insurance companies, such as Animal Friends and Waggel - Sign up with their insurance to receive "bonus" biscuits.
"Biscuits" were received each time a dog was walked in a way, or time, shown on the app. As personal data is not tangible, many customers thought the app was free and highly-recommended it to friends, family, and other dog walkers they met. This grew the Biscuit database rapidly, and Waggel's assets almost doubled:
2022=£628,855.00
2023=£1,075,388.00
Biscuit gained 5-star reviews during this period on Trustpilot, Google Play, and Apple Market.
"Tasks" were introduced that slowly reduced the number of biscuits that could be earned, e.g. Rather than a daily walk, customers were expected to walk their dog for 2 or 3 consecutive days before progressing.
The value of biscuits earned was gradually decreased so that the amount needed to buy a voucher was sometimes almost doubled. This wasn't always the case, e.g. While Costa vouchers almost doubled, Marks and Spencer vouchers were reduced by 3 biscuits!
In May 2025, things changed dramatically for biscuit customers. If you are considering downloading the app, I recommend checking reviews posted after May 2025 BEFORE you do.
On May 12th, 2025, customers were asked to pay a subscription of £3.99 per month. Subscribers were offered a free PitPat activity monitor for their dogs to wear. From this time, customers who didn't or couldn't pay only received a fifth of the vouchers they had before and be forced to watch adverts unrelated to pet care, e.g. Temu.
Dog walking data is collected by the app; however, the tracker is not reliable. A free tracking app like STRAVA would be a much better option:
Strava has 4.3 stars and 50 million downloads
Biscuit has only 3.7 stars and 100,000 downloads
We need to remember that this app was not really aimed at the affluent - They don't usually need vouchers. This is aimed at those who need a little extra help with their shopping, an occasional treat, etc.
If you bought a product based on good reviews just to discover that the product no longer does what it previously did and, on checking, you discovered that 90% of the positive reviews were old, would you be happy with your purchase? It is vital to keep ratings up-to-date so that newbies can make an informed decision; hence, this review. Since the May 2025 introduction of subscription payments, and the subsequent way they introduced negative benefits to their loyal customer base, Biscuits ratings on Trustpilot, Google Maps, and Apple Market have nosedived.
Whenever Biscuit is given a negative review on the Trustpilot website, it replies with copy-paste advertising!
Conclusion: This is my honest opinion only. Do your research, but check the date of each review.
All about profit..no benefit to loyal users
We had a recent change a couple of months ago where the amount of 'biscuits' to achieve a reward doubled suddenly. And now the rewards earned each day have been reduced by 80%. You can pay £4 a month to earn the same amount of rewards you used to get for free, just to finally qualify in 3months for a £10 voucher! Makes no sense. I get maybe with cost of living some benefits had to be adjusted at sometime, but this feels highly excessive and all about profit. Going to stop using this app as not worth it
Greedy & A Shame
What a shame that such a fun app to walk your dogs has now got greedy. The voucher over time have got more expensive and now will take forever to get £10.
Definitely not worth the bother.
Gotten greedy
Their new changes have forced them to turn off social media comments due to the overwhelming negative feedback.
They've changed from free to a paid programme. Unpaid: About £10 of vouchers every 7 months. Paid: About £21 of vouchers every 7 months.
To put it into perspective, the previous plan before the change was around double that at £41 of vouchers every 7 months.
They've disabled social media comments to silence negative feedback
The update has reduced the rewards from 25 a day to 5 unless you pay a substantial. Along with constantly increasing the cost of the vouchers. It will take over 200 days to get a single £10 voucher, used to be £10 a month per dog.
They have also turned off comments on social media in an attempt to silence the negative feedback from costumers who are rightfully outraged.
Would give it no stars if I could
Like someone else said, it used to be really worth while. I used to get 150 biscuits once a week as well as my daily ones for walking my 2 dogs. Tesco £10 vouchers cost 850 biscuits. Not anymore, you either get 5 biscuits per day per dog or pay £3.99 to pay for the app. It would take me about 4 months to get a £10 voucher!. I have exchanged biscuits for my last voucher and I have now uninstalled the app! NO THANK YOU!
