Ben Baker Design in essence came about from my childhood love of tinkering, I would disassemble anything I could get my hands on then attempt to put it back together with varying degrees of success, It became a life long interest in how and why things work the way they do, it is a passion that continued throughout my life, I began my working life in graphic design and printing at my fathers “Instant Print” business, way back before instant print was a common thing. I loved the process of the machinery and the noise of rotating gears and hiss of the paper suction as each form and letterhead was delivered with a dust to prevent the ink sticking. it was a rhythm that is music to me. My love of Art,Design & Aesthetics was I moved away from home and into a new city and tried my hand at welding and fabrication something I enjoyed very much for a time, but I felt I wanted to travel, so decided to get a trade and train as an electrician, My electrical work enabled me to travel all over the UK and into Europe, installing housing re-wires at first onto installing and commissioning fully automatic car washes and automotive paint systems, after a number of years I decided it was time to start out on my own and work for myself, I got involved in contract work for property developers and through this line of work began installing pumps for water features and lighting systems in landscaped It was something that really got my interest back, here my work story comes to where I am now, I work full time in Landscaping and Garden Lighting installations and Lamp repairs. Excellent workmanship
I found Ben by chance when looking for someone near me that could help replace cords and fittings for a number of my table lamps. He's been superb to deal with! Kind mannered, very helpful and service minded and the work is excellent. Price is also very fair. I strongly recommend Ben and I have no reason to go anywhere else in the future. Thank you so much!

Top notch work for US UK wiring conversion
Ben was a delight to work with. He converted three of our US wired lamps into UK wiring. He was efficient and offered a fair price, and I won't hesitate to return to Ben for any future lighting needs. 5 stars for sure!

Gorgeous lamp restoration…
Ben completed a lamp restoration for me - it was a lamp created by my father from a Venetian gondola sea horse with a carved base - a piece of immense sentimental value that needed to be brought into 21st century. Ben did the electrical work as thoroughly as ever and restored the base etc with sensitivity and subtlety. A treasure fit to go forward to the next generation! Thank you, Ben!! 😊

A great personal service business
I've just discovered Ben Baker Design and bought an art deco lamp from him for one of my restaurants. His service and attention to detail and desire to get everything right is terrific in an age where getting personal attention from a company is so so hard. I will buy from him again and will also use him for repairs if required.
