Ben Baker Design in essence came about from my childhood love of tinkering, I would disassemble anything I could get my hands on then attempt to put it back together with varying degrees of success, It became a life long interest in how and why things work the way they do, it is a passion that continued throughout my life, I began my working life in graphic design and printing at my fathers “Instant Print” business, way back before instant print was a common thing. I loved the process of the machinery and the noise of rotating gears and hiss of the paper suction as each form and letterhead was delivered with a dust to prevent the ink sticking. it was a rhythm that is music to me. My love of Art,Design & Aesthetics was I moved away from home and into a new city and tried my hand at welding and fabrication something I enjoyed very much for a time, but I felt I wanted to travel, so decided to get a trade and train as an electrician, My electrical work enabled me to travel all over the UK and into Europe, installing housing re-wires at first onto installing and commissioning fully automatic car washes and automotive paint systems, after a number of years I decided it was time to start out on my own and work for myself, I got involved in contract work for property developers and through this line of work began installing pumps for water features and lighting systems in landscaped It was something that really got my interest back, here my work story comes to where I am now, I work full time in Landscaping and Garden Lighting installations and Lamp repairs. Easy, Fast and Polite Service
This was the first time I contacted Ben and he was very professional and courteous in communicating with me . once I arrived at his studio he fixed my lamp problem in 5 minutes and charged me a nominal fee. I will return to him if I ever have another lighting issue.

Ben has been amazing
Ben has been amazing. He fixed our rather expensive ceiling light fitting for a very cost effective price, and supplied us with new bulbs too. I feared we were going to have to say goodbye to our light but Ben has saved it! Ben was very responsive and great to talk to.

Safety fuse and bulb replacement

Four Lamps
We were so pleased with the the exceptional job that Ben did on our lamps. He converted four ceramic lamps that we bought years ago in China to British fittings, wiring and plugs. He provided great advice and the job was completed within the deadline he indicated at the outset. We would definitely recommend him.

Ben repaired our treasured Artemide table lamp by replacing the broken dimmer switch with an original part and restoring the cabling inside the lamp. He did a brilliant job, and even replaced the light bulb, while keeping us informed about costs and timings along the way. The price for the repair was very reasonable we thought, especially given the effort involved in sourcing the part and unusual light bulb. Thank you Ben!

Easy and fast lamp conversion
Quick and helpful service, Ben converted one of our table lamps to a Canadian socket ahead of our move abroad. He took care of the parts and conversion in a timely fashion and his pricing was very reasonable.
