Small welsh house, super king bed ?!.....
Hottest day of the year on record for May, Super King bed and mattress on order, only one day to suit us at our house in deepest Wales. What could possibly go wrong? Knaresborough is a very very long way from deepest Wales.
Our anxiety about ensuring the bed could be definitely delivered by ‘next day delivery’ and on the day we were there, was repeatedly reassured by the lady who calmy and confidently soothed my wife’s fine-tuning, arrangement and control obsession. The online service and telephone contacts with Bedstar were 5 star. We were always kept in the loop with updates and the promised liaison with the delivery company (more about them later!) were flawless. The Bedstar telephone lady should be given a pay rise, but don’t promote her as she is brilliant at her job. So, we awoke in sweltering heat with a message from the delivery driver that they would be with us between 1 and 2 pm. Ha! We thought good luck with that with all the traffic on the Bank Holiday roads in Wales. The delivery service provided a location pin for the delivery van, we watched as it wound its way slowly over the Welsh hills, Bala, Dolgellau. Our thoughts were “it’s on its way!” and the drivers will be enjoying fabulous scenery, looking its stunning best in the glorious sunshine.
The van arrived within the promised time and out fell 2 young men who looked very well cooked and not so happy that their van didn’t have air conditioning. I didn’t want to be the one who told them that the Super King size bed and mattress had to go up a narrow staircase, take a 90 degree turn up to the next half landing before going through the narrow doorway. They knew how to build small houses in Wales 200 years ago!
After a few minutes small talk and a quick look at the tortuous steep stairway they started with the Super king mattress (which was not folded). These guys may have looked like wilted lettuce when they arrived, but they know how to move mattresses. They pushed, shoved, bent, twisted, heaved, pulled and finally got the mattress up the first flight. The 90 degree turn needed more thought, so they pushed, shoved, bent, twisted, heaved, pulled and the mattress was in the bedroom. Never in the field of mattress moving was the Bedstar company reputation dependant on the few (2).
Great teamwork between the 2 guys. We offered seated rest, but they took a refreshing drink of water/juice and now rejuvenated and with our astonished faces not believing what skilled mattress moving we had just witnessed they went on their way, some 20 minutes after arriving!
Oh, the bed….it was in sections and easy to get up the stairs and it was in 100% good condition it is perfect and we slept well last night – apart from the heat.
So, the takeaway from this review?
Our personal experience is that Bedstar is an efficient, reliable and delivers what it says when it says. It is a fabulous company to deal with. They have a delivery network which seamlessly integrates with them and delivers what’s promised to the smallest bedroom up the narrowest stairs in the deepest of Wales. Great service. Thank you.

Manufacturer kept up to standard by Bedstar
Chose Bedstar as they had a showroom and valid address after noting that many of the online bed suppliers still trading were listed at Companies House as dissolved and the named directors all resigned. Bedstar responded to my complaint and got the manufacturer to replace the divan base and take the faulty one away. Now very happy and thanks to Gareth who dealt so efficiently with the problem.
