Customer Service That Others Should Aspire To

Carla made me feel comfortable and reassured me that my issue would be resolved quickly. She was kind and professional, able to understand the reason for my call and knew exactly how to handle it. Aspiration is an eco-conscious company that cares about it's clients and their financial well being.

Zero fraud protection!!!

I recently traveled to Mexico and forgot my card in an ATM. When I noticed my card was missing, a day later, I immediately called the bank and canceled it. The next day, a charge for over $3k showed up in my account. I immediately called and opened a dispute (there was no fraud option). 10 or so days later they decided NOT to recover my funds, saying that there was evidence that I was aware of the charge (they didn't provide any evidence) and that I didn't freeze the card. I don't understand how this charge was even allowed to go through. The fact that I was traveling and that the amount is NOT in line with my spending habits should have raised an alert. I don't see how the person could have gotten my PIN, so they must have used a signature for the sale, but I guess nobody even looks at that. To top it off, the transaction was "pending" for multiple days, yet they said that they couldn't decline it before it went through. I'm all for protecting the planet, but you also have to protect your customers.

Aspiration closed my account TWICE due to a glitch

Apparently in April of this year, Aspiration's banking services began operating under their partner, Coastal Community Bank. This is where everything went downhill immediately. In May they sent an email to account holders that we would have to confirm that we accept the new terms of the bank to keep banking with them. I confirmed as soon as I saw the email. A few weeks later, my debit card stopped working. I checked online and they had closed my account without telling me. I spoke with a manager Rain, who said it looked like my account was not closed, even though it showed it was on my end on their website. She said she would give me updates soon. Several days later of me calling every day and there not being an update, I got a hold of Rain again and she said there was a glitch in their system that my account came up as "non-converted", even though I accepted the new terms and conditions. I had all of my bills set up through Aspiration, I was late on several and asked them to pay my late fees but they said they could not. Eventually, my account was re-activated the next week. I was content to leave this as a back-up account and re-routed all my autopay to another bank. Then in July, I discovered my account was closed AGAIN, and without notifying me. I called and they again have no idea why it was closed. This is the most unprofessional bank I have ever dealt with. Your money is not safe here.

Aspiration bank is not safe

I rented a one-way car & the rental agency charged a $500 deposit hold. Aspiration however inflated the charges to $550 for no reason. I returned the card sooner because the extra $50 placed a real hardship on me. The rental car agency released their deposit hold but Aspiration refuses to do so claiming that it will take 15-30 days even after providing them proof that I owed nothing to the rental car agency. Currently, I'm homeless because I can't afford a hotel or food or pay a bill because pay day is 8 days away. And my bills are about to be rejected. I was forced to file a complaint with a California agency. Now I'm going to file one with BBB because it makes no sense that they immediately took my money but refuse to give it back immediately.

We can see how the higher amount would cause concern, but this is actually due to a temporary buffer added to certain types of transactions with merchants such as at gas stations, hotels, or car rental establishments. At hotels or car rental companies, a pending hold is typically placed as a safety deposit, or for the amount of your reservation. Regardless, the temporary added amount only applies to a charge while it's pending. The transaction that you actually authorized will post without including the overage. I've been with Aspiration pretty much…

I've been with Aspiration pretty much since they opened.
Anytime I've had to call them, they have always been quick and professional, and helpful in fixing my issues. Everything from needing a checkbook to having my card number stolen, they have taken care of me within minutes.
It would be helpful if they could deposit photo checks over $5,000, but I get it. The biggest pluses are they have my back in unauthorized purchases, and have the most responsive customer service than any other bank I've used!

Don’t Suck At Life, Get Aspiration

Aspiration is a great company and provides great service. They realize that they operate differently than other banks and are very good at helping me navigate dealing with organizations who expect a standard bank. Aspiration is always improving and I find their system extremely more convenient than your average bank.

I deposited a check from a trust…

I deposited a check from a trust account and they still have not given me credit for that check yet it's been over a week. They've responded to my emails indicating they will give me credit but days go by and nothing happens. Do not use them!

Once we receive the mailed item, The first $5,500 will be posted to your account within 1-2 business days, and the remaining funds will be subject to a standard 5-business-day hold. The remaining amount should be available in your account after this hold period. That said, it appears you receive all of your funds within the timeframe provided.

If you get scammed and dispute one time…

If you get scammed and dispute one time in eight years for less than $100 you're screwed. Screw them. They don't have that many Americans even working for them anymore. They keep switching or eliminating accounts like Redwood. Just generally unhappy. I remember when they were wonderful to bank with. Now they're greedy, unreasonable with lousy customer service skills to boot. Don't waste your time or money. I left. Good riddance.

Aspiration is wonderful

Aspiration is a totally online convenient way to keep money where you need it, for investing and accessing at ATMs and when shopping. Beyond convenient it is meaningful and healthy for the earth, because they are planting trees and encouraging you to buy from sources that are truly green, not pretenders. By not having physical banks I was initially worried, but it is part of how they save money, which goes back to giving you interest on your money. I have had no problems with them in a decade.
