I LOVE the YHA! I have stayed in six locations in the past two years. It is excellent for taking teenagers away or groups of friends as there are cooking facilities and the option of a very reasonable cooked breakfast. The locations are awesome, prices reasonable and every hostel we have stayed in has been clean and comfortable. Much nicer than I remember from my youth! Please support the YHA, it would be devastating for them to lose some of their locations.

Disappointing. In the 30 years I’ve been coming here, it’s not changed for the better. The camping grounds have been moved to an unkempt, rooted, wasp ridden, stinging nettle & bramble covered hill, further away from the toilet/kitchen block, that no longer provides a kettle or fridge that it did in the past. The ‘lovely wooded path’ to the camp grounds have no lights - unlike the rest of the grounds. The camping area was moved to make way for permanent bell tents and land pods for glamping, which considering that they are sleeping on beds and are carpeted would be better suited to the ‘new’ camping area. Side note - the camp grounds are now no longer wheelchair accessible as they have replaced that area with an abundance of unused picnic benches. The hostel itself hasn’t changed, the kitchens/dining room still the same as it was in the 90s. Be aware they will police your breakfast intake at the restaurant regardless of it being unlimited. The lounge, which has always been more geared towards teens and children is completely lacking in games, puzzles & books like it used to, but that is probably because guests are not leaving behind items like they used to. Most of the staff are really lovely, especially in the restaurant and two ladies at reception - both willing to impart a bit of knowledge or suggest places to visit - the gentleman however seems to be in a consistent mood, not willing to actually hold a conversation or be helpful when asked a question - this was clear with how he spoke to staff and other guests. And finally the power sources and wifi are atrocious. The wifi is an issue with most of Cornwall, but the electricity here needs to be sorted as nothing charged properly. I will probably not come back again, which is sad as it’s been a staple holiday location since I was 4. Considering the amount of money that they are now making daily from the glamping, and the restaurant, you’d think they would have updated/fixed the camping area. It’s cheap to camp, but it always has been, so I don’t understand how there is even less amenities than previously.

The location and view from my room were amazing. The staff were very helpful. Nice walk to the Anglers rest pub and riverside from the hostel. Only downside was the humming of some sort of unit in the night but otherwise fantastic stay.

Absolutely brilliant location. Very friendly staff. Not immaculate but nowhere near dirty either, clean bedding provided. Lovely breakfast, would recommend.

I had an amazing stay at this hostel! The first thing that struck me was the beautiful new building. Everything looked modern and well-maintained, giving it a welcoming ambiance right from the start.

The location was perfect. It was conveniently situated close to popular attractions and public transportation, making it easy to explore the city without any hassle. Not to mention, the hostel boasted a breathtaking view, offering a glimpse of the city's skyline that I couldn't get enough of.

The facilities were top-notch. The hostel provided everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The rooms were clean and cozy, and the common areas were spacious and inviting. I particularly enjoyed the communal kitchen, which was well-equipped and a great place to interact with other guests while preparing meals.

The best part of my experience was the receptionist. They were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready with a warm smile and excellent recommendations for local eateries and activities. Their presence made me feel at home, and it was reassuring to know that they were available to assist with any queries or concerns.

Overall, I highly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting the area. With its new building, prime location, stunning view, excellent facilities, and delightful receptionist, it's a top-notch choice for a memorable and enjoyable stay. I can't wait to return!

Great location, great price and Bath was fantastic

Another really affordable break thanks to YHA. It’s great to be able to trust in clean, well equipped hostels with self-catering facilities in some of the most spectacular surroundings.

Confusing booking - just the start
We went to the Eden Project in Cornwall YHA. The website was so confusing that we thought we had booked one thing, and arrived to find something - not to my liking. A landpod, cold, damp (yes in July), snug, but not in the nice way. No heating or ability to cook or make a drink. The pod is hooked up to solar panels. But our electrics had been waiting for days to be fixed, but still wasn't when we arrived. The toilets were very few and far between, and more often than not the toilets (all 2 of them) were blocked!

Ideally located next to the National Landscape Discovery Centre alongside Hadrians Wall this is a great purpose built hostel that although new has all the facilities and atmosphere of other older YHA hostels. There is a local bus service, named the AD122 after the year building of the wall started, which connects all the Roman history of the area and also all the access points needed for you to have a great day out walking sections of the wall. I fully recommend the hostel and will certainly be visiting again in the not too distant future.

YHA Broadhaven - I shall keep this rightfully short not because my praise is small but because there is not many ways to say fantastic.

A credit to the brand and the institution nestled not far away from 42,000 puffins! They couldn't not have been more helpful and welcoming. Lovely place to stay I shall definitely be back!

Great Youth Hostel at The Sill on the Roman Wall. Friendly, clean and a great location for exploring our history.

this YHA is in an ideal location in London. The area is quiet. The place is very clean and the staff is nice. Big problem however with room temperature. I was there when the outside temperature was only 17°C in July. inside the room it was minimum 28°C night and days. There is no ventilation, no way to properly open the windows. Sleeping there was a nightmare. Too bad

I went on a school trip at yha adventure Okehampton with gatehouse from Dawlish and was very impressed with how fun it was. The instructors where wonderful including Alex,Steve,Em,Nick,Richard and Andy. The cooks where amazing and catered for any kind of dietary I would love to come back here as was a wonderful place.

We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights at the New Forest YHA. It was great. We stayed in a Landpod. It was very cosy and perfect. The mattress and duvet were exactly right. The inside was much bigger than I thought it would be. The site is dog friendly which I really appreciated as it meant we could travel with our whole family. The place was immaculately clean. The self-catering kitchen is well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. The staff are all very friendly. I can't wait to visit again.

verything. And, most importantly, this care is genuine. Very comfortable psychologically. Breakfast and board were of the highest quality and in large quantities. I have never seen such a breakfast and such service, and I have many things to compare it with. It was very well located, very quiet and very comfortable room. Finally I found a hotel that I want to come back to.

Stayed a night at the Streatley hostel. A clean, pleasant single room 5 minutes from the Thames for £31! Had marvellous day walking on the Ridgeway - larks, kites, butterflies, views, and a morning walking along the Thames Path - stunning. Great conversations with other travellers, clean, thoughtfully equipped self catering kitchen, well located central hostel, pleasant communal spaces, friendly staff.

Another excellent weekend staying at the Borrowdale YHA. Fantastic location with friendly and helpful staff.

YHA Liverpool Centre
The bed was comfortable, the staff were helpful and did their best with the heat. That was all I needed for the single night I stayed (due to an early event the next day). They also have luggage storage for departing guests. Be aware that this hostel is in the centre of Liverpool so may be quite noisy at times (particularly if you need the window open due to heat). If you want to be central to the nightlife this is a good thing, if you want it a little quieter try on YHA on the docks instead

I booked a stay at YHA Idwal Cottage to climb Snowdon. Travelling from London I phoned to find out what the late check in procedure is - there isn’t one. In fact access won’t be granted after the reception closes. Ok no issue, I’ll have my money back? No - YHA despite complaining and escalating will not offer a refund, despite not making clear that you will not be able to check in late when you book.
