Spent over £10,000 on a Wickes en-suite bathroom and the experience was, and still is, horrendous

Issues including:
- Incorrect installation date recorded by Wickes which meant parts being delivered months early, and expecting us to store them over Christmas

- Inaccurate initial survey requiring redesign before work started.
- Incorrect items delivered, delaying the installation.
- Damaged shower wall panels delivered unwrapped.
- Wrong tap supplied for our plumbing system.
- Shower installation required remedial work following a Mira engineer's inspection.
- Poor communication and weeks waiting for responses from Customer Services.
- Our case being closed while the shower was still not working correctly.
- Repeatedly having to chase issues ourselves rather than Wickes taking ownership.

The only positive was the installer, who was professional throughout and worked hard to resolve problems that were not of his making.

What should have been a straightforward en-suite installation is taking over five months to complete and the issues still as I type, remain unresolved.

Based on our experience, the project management and after-sales support fell well below the standard we expected from a national retailer.

I will never go in a Wickes store again, and will definitely be escalating an official complaint.

Terrible, terrible company based on my experiences

I has the assistance from Adam on various occasions at your store in Winchester Road, Southampton. He also loaded my goods into my car, very professional, polite and very kind.
I then visited your store again and Bill also assisted in the same manner as did John Saunders.
You are very very fortunate to have these wonderful staff members. Look after them.
It makes my visits to your store very enjoyable and pleasurable.

Do yourself a favour and don’t bother wasting your time. An hour of being lectured about unless they are doing a massive redesign they won’t install- fine whatever. Waited weeks for the ‘quote’ - nothing. Then get an email - the quotes about to expire? Er what quote?? Call them and 35mins later after being transferred multiple times of which not a single person can actually send me this mysterious quote I finally get told their on the phone? Fine can they just email the quote? God no only the design consultant can and she’s busy. Go independent and get what you actually want in better quality.

Kryssy Kitson at the Southampton store was design consultant who dealt with our request for kitchen revamp. She was very attentive, gave suggestions and advice and was considerate with our budget. The process was quick and efficient and most satisfactory. Cannot recommend her highly enough.

Nick is definitely the person who always guide you in the right direction. Reason I always seek advice from him. Very polite and a good listener ready to suggest and help to take the goods from Wickes.

We recently had our ensuite bathroom completely refitted and rearranged, and the whole experience has been excellent. Our designer, Krystina Kitson, was friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly organised. She made the whole process feel easy and was always happy for me to get in touch as much as I needed to make sure we were completely happy with every detail. She wasn’t afraid to point out potential issues early on, but always came prepared with smart solutions that allowed us to still get exactly what we wanted. Her guidance on colours, layouts, and fixtures was spot‑on—supportive and inspiring without ever being pushy. She listened to our ideas, respected our budget, and helped us make choices that truly elevated the space.
Our fitter, Glyn Williams, was equally outstanding. He is professional, approachable, and has a real eye for detail. The quality of his workmanship is fantastic. He kept disruption to an absolute minimum throughout the refit and handled any unforeseen challenges calmly and expertly, ensuring the end result matched our vision perfectly.
We are absolutely delighted with our new ensuite and couldn’t recommend the team highly enough. Thank you for making the whole process smooth, stress‑free, and genuinely enjoyable!

We went to Southampton Wickes and ordered a kitchen from a fantastic sales lady called Josie, so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, would fully recommend her

Nick, an employee at Wicks was fantastic. They didn't have what I needed, so he came up with an alternative suggestion. He found the relevant parts, tested them to see if his solution would work - and it did! I am delighted and his solution worked out cheaper than what I'd planned. Excellent customer service. Thank you, Nick :)

Josey arrived at the property to take a look and measure the rooms, she had so many fantastic ideas, she was very professional and really knows her stuff! We booked a further appointment with her to start our journey on a new kitchen. Would highly recommend.

One person made my experience great. That was Kryssy from the bespoke kitchen design team. I have a small galley kitchen with a step two thirds of the way along the length. Kryssy redesigned my kitchen beautifully and her customer service was excellent every step of the way. Promptly replying to emails about one damaged end panel and extras I needed to order. Lovely attitude all the way through

I would love to mention the drivers team too. Really polite and helpful. Very respectful about special instructions for delivery as our house is not seen from the road and they had to take their truck to a different road and walk through with the goods to access our garage

Great customer service from duty manager Craig, I’ve been in there a few times lately and he’s always been helpful and friendly a good credit to the company.

I went to Wickes for my bathroom design and installation as in comparison with most competitors they offer home visit and in store support. However, the supports ends as soon as an order is placed. Problem number one. Incorrect toilet. Our installation was planned for the 15th of September and a few days before I was called to tell me that my selected toilet was not in stock and an identical toilet could be sent instead. We were having also a bidet installed so I made sure that it was clear that the two had to have the same style, when this was confirmed I gave my blessing. The toilet that was sent was clearly a cheaper toilet and it was not similar to the originally selected one. It took over a month to address the issue and have the correct toilet sent.
Problem number 2. Missing and incorrect items. On the day of the installation it became clear that a few items were missing (radiators valves, bidet waste) and some items were incorrect (bath and sink waste were silver and not black). It took me several shop visits, calls to customer service and finally Amazon orders to get the missing products.
Problem number 3. Toilet not collected. When the toilet was finally replaced the old incorrect toilet that was installed in the main time - was abandoned on my driveway and Wickes said that it is not their problem.
So to summarize if you want piece of mind avoid Wickes at all costs.

Have just had a new kitchen fitted by Wickes, Southampton and it looks amazing. From start to finish I was kept informed about the installation. My designer, Kryssy, was friendly and professional, keeping me updated regarding costs. I changed my mind on a couple of choices and that was no problem. I had to change dates for the installation a couple of times due to illness but the team were happy to work around that. The delivery was on time and all items were present. The installation team were friendly, lead by Jamie. The workmanship was excellent and I couldn't find fault. I had a new fuse box fitted by the electrician, plugs and lights. All new appliances fitted, new flooring, decorating and plumbing, all to a very high standard. When it was finished, Kryssy came to take some photos of the new kitchen and even brought me some flowers! Very, very happy with the fantastic job they've done. Thank you.

Josey helped us redesign our main bathroom and ensuite. From the first interaction Josey was very polite, informative and took interest in the projects. She carried out all the correct measurements and came up with two innovative designs to help us maximise space and add a little bit of luxury in the ensuite. We had three separate appointments in total and felt that she gave us all the time we needed to make the choices. She did not rush us and helped us choose all the different parts, making the whole process seamless. She was highly professional and clearly knew what she was talking about. We would highly recommend Josey to design your next Bathroom.

I would like to commend Emma at Wickes, 271 Winchester Road. She was very professional, patient, and polite when helping me with my order issue. Emma also coordinated with her colleagues to ensure the changes were handled smoothly. She served with a smile and made the whole process stress-free. The team here shows great teamwork and cooperation — a really positive experience!

Came in to buy paint and gloss, very helpful staff, made sure to double check which kind of paint I would like and explained the difference between them for me, very cheerful when talking. Another staff member made sure we found everything we needed and also helped find the right kind of brushes needed for the woodwork we were painting.

The Southampton Wickes Extra store are lucky to have very helpful staff. Rob provided excellent service for the purchase of garden products. Competitive pricing and wide range of building and DIY goods.
