I appreciated the staff directing me around the Dunstable store. Marie at the payment till was particularly helpful in sorting out a problem with a stock number. Altogether a good experience.

Very nice lady on the till and very friendly. She helped as to find what we need. Thank you for her helping and. She must to be employed of the month 💯

0 star rating product review, please take this seriously, as a fire door is supposed to save life’s, and a fire door lining timber frame is the structure, so this product should be quality controlled from all angles.

I don’t generally give reviews, but I want Wickes to know, that their customer service at the Dunstable store was excellent, especially on Tuesday night 14th Oct 2025 with Anne Marie, and then again on 15th October 2025 with Marie, who both exchanged my fire door linings, as they were faulty in very different ways.

I walked away refunded in the end with no fire door frame and want to Thankyou, it cost me a lot of time, and my time is money, however. I want you to think about the below?

Fire door lining timber should have minimal knots, as this is where the timber twists.

Timber manufactured too quick needs to be left 12 months at least before manufacturing, I know this doesn’t happen, moisture levels in the timber need to dry out to minimise twisting.
The timber is also planed inconsistent, in which is a huge problem for a fire door, I hope you listen to this advice, and go back to your supplier, is quite disgusting that they are certified, because I just ripped out a frame that had bigger bowed and twist on the frame, from my fire risk assessment.

I feel these fire door linings should not be sold. I found flaws over 8 packs in store. as I measured and layed them and saw twists inconsistency with the timber thickness.

Also another problem with how timber warps/ twists is because of the way it is stored, upright.

We made 2 visits to Wickes today to pick up (very heavy) tiles. On the second visit the Security Guard marshaled Jacob and Arkhil to load our trolley (I am over 70 years old and an OAP). Jacob then pushed it out to our car and loaded it up for us. Jacob in particular was very helpful. Would have given a 5 star rating, but had to do it myself earlier.

Had help today exchanging a product and doing an on-line order by Marie and Gosia - both ladies extremely helpful

Click & collect was effortless. 👏 inside the store staff were helpful & attentive. Thanks

Went into store and needed a few items
I didn’t know where to start
Was joined by Ricky who took me round and helped me purchase all items . Like a personal shopper !!
I also needed mixer taps but they were all out of my budget so he found me some ex display ones that were on sale by the entrance that I hadn’t even noticed . They were worth over £100 and managed to get them for £50 !!! Result !!

Friendly staff especially Marie...normally has plenty of stock available and at good prices

I've been visiting this store for many years. The staff changes sometimes, but I know almost everyone. Today, I was served by Maria, always smiling and helpful. I wish all stores had people like yours.

As a tradesman I use wickes most days Marie is alway very polite and extremely helpful I look forward to seeing her I hurt my back and she went out of her way to get me some help with my order

I'm buying all my construction materials from Wickes Dunstable and all people there are very friendly, especially Marie who helped me a few times.

I was buying some goods and Marie at the till asked if I was a trade, which I'm, Marie was very polite explained the benefits to register with wickes as a trade and she couldn't do enough to help me set up my account.
To the management of Wickes staff like Marie is hard to come by, do look after her.
Definitely Wickes Dunstable is on top my list now for my refurbishment needs on my trade and DIY jobs at home.

I had a really good home measure and in store design experience with Jo Dewen from the Dunstable branch.
Jo was punctual, thorough, took the time to explain everything and never rushed me. There was plenty of opportunity to talk through colour options, styles, worktops etc. and visuals were both printed and emailed to me.

The only downside was on my first trip to store before making my home measure appointment online none of the staff said hello or offered to help however that is consistent with other retailers.

All in all it was a good experience.

A Masterclass in Poor Customer Service

I bought an on-display oven from Wickes Dunstable back in mid-June, with the promise I could collect it by mid-July. It’s now mid-September and I still don’t have it. Every time I chase for an update, I’m met with vague excuses and shifting timelines. Most recently, I was told it could take another 10 weeks—apparently only a specific contractor can remove the oven due to “safety measures.” Wickes refuses to hire anyone else or offer any real solution—just a refund, which completely disregards the time and effort I’ve already invested.

What makes this even more frustrating is that other customers have had their display items removed and collected without issue, yet Wickes refuses to do the same for me. There’s no consistency, no accountability, and absolutely no customer care.

Despite repeated assurances, they never call or email with updates. I’ve had to physically go into the store every time I want to know what’s going on. This is not just poor service—it’s a complete failure of basic customer responsibility. Avoid Wickes Dunstable if you value your time, money, or sanity.
