We had seen the ring when were in the shop, and called a few days later to make the purchase. The lady remembered us visiting the store and quickly sorted the purchase which was received in a few days, and very nicely packaged.

Just very patient and helpful

Bought Gucci Gold ring online , Poppi was very helpful with my enquiry. I end up buying another silver Tag necklace because of her service . Next day delivery , price match from others shop , all my email was replied promptly , great customer service . Thank you very much for your help .

Item arrived quickly, before I thought it would, and is (as usual) top quality. Also, as it was a sale item there was a discount making this extra VFM.

Yet to receive the good, but online chat service to facilitate the purchase was excellent. Will give the final score once goods are received.

I was delighted with my purchase as it was a gift for my daughter for Halloween and the day of the dead festival, she was thrilled, the Whitby jet was an amazing touch.

Ordered a Sternglas watch through W Hamond's online shop at a great price, but I should have known it was too good to be true.

The watch arrived with a faulty/damaged crown. Unfortunate but not the end of the world, as these things can happen. However, upon politely contacting W Hamond about this, they were adamant it was shipped undamaged and refused to refund or exchange it. I was shocked and mortified by this.

Thankfully I knew my rights as a consumer and managed to get a chargeback via my credit card, but if I hadn't purchased this way I would have been swindled.

Finally, I contacted the original manufacturer (Sterngals) and found out I was not the only customer to be treated this way, see below:

"I have to tell you that this retailer is no longer supplied by our distributor, as they had outstanding payments and the cooperation was consequently terminated. Sternglas therefore no longer has any business relationship with this seller, and unfortunately, you are not the only one who has had this kind of experience. We are relieved that, moving forward, this can no longer happen with any purchase of a Sternglas watch."

Edit: I am astonished by the response below. It doesn't matter if the fault was present on sending or if it was damaged in transit. If the item arrived faulty (which it did) the consumer is entitled to a refund or a replacement as per the consumer rights act. This is literally in your own terms and conditions if you cared to read them. But you repeated refused to do either, insisting I go down a repair route. And your terms also say W Hamond is responsible for paying return postage for faulty goods, which you did eventually do after the chargeback as you provided me a return label which I used! And regardless of any of this, my credit card provider deemed your "proof" of its condition insufficient, hence the chargeback being processed. I also see you flagged this review as 'harmful or illegal content' which is clearly an attempt to silence legitimate critisism and is an abuse of Trustpilot's systems.

The salesperson was personable and knowledgeable. A very positive experience.

So two weeks ago I decided to get my another which I purchased one from Hammond jewellers , a blue john wave ring, it came today it's so beautiful the presentation and packaging what amazing well worth the wait and the money 100% quality

I have been shopping (in the Whitby store) with WHamonds for 30 years and have numerous pieces of their beautiful jet jewellery - however my last experience with them has been awful!

We were going to Whitby last weekend for a little break and I had seen a bracelet online in WHamonds that my husband said he would buy me for Christmas. We rung the Whitby store but it wasn’t in stock, so we purchased it online expecting 4-6 week delivery.

It arrived early - the day before we went to Whitby! Perfect - however when I opened the parcel - the bracelet was far smaller and far more delicate than it looked online and unsuitable for me unfortunately - so we took it to Whitby with us the next day to return … this is what the awful service began!

We took the bracelet straight into the Whitby store as soon as we arrived on Friday lunchtime. I didn’t see anything else I wanted as an exchange at that time, so we asked the lady on the counter to return this for a refund. We were told she couldn’t generate the refund as it was an online order -
very odd considering it was purchased from WHamond and I was in the Whamond store! I have never ever had this issue with any other online/store return!

She said she would send the bracelet back to head office which would get there by the next morning or Monday morning at the latest and the refund would be generated.

In the meantime - I had seen the Google reviews regarding the awful refund experiences from other customers…..

On Tuesday afternoon - I rung WHamonds
Customer service line to be told I would be contacted in due course to see if I wanted a credit note or exchange - just like all the other negative reviews! I told her implicitly that I required a refund as they already have the item back. She said I would get an email when head office ‘receives it back’ - I again stated that Hamonds already ‘had the bracelet in their possession and I had the receipt from the Whitby store to prove it. She was very unhelpful and basically said the refund would happen when it happens - usually 14 days after receipt! (Ridiculous situation considering I had physically retuned the bracelet to the store!)

Contacted them again on Wednesday to be told that there was nothing on the system that I had returned the bracelet and they would contact the store to find out where it was!

So I assume it’s still sitting in a shelf on the store somewhere!

No refund - no bracelet!

I will be contacting my bank to instigate a charge back if I don’t hear from them the by the end of office hours today.

So - in a nutshell - if you want a pleasant, easy, shopping experience - do not shop with WHamonds online!

Beautiful and wide selection of jet jewellery, very helpful staff.

The sales lady, Karen, was bubbly and very helpful. I bought a beautiful butterfly necklace in memory of my brother and we had a little chat about the relevance of butterflies and remembrance.
The packaging was beautiful and I am very happy with my purchase.
The shop itself, in The Shambles in York, was full of beautiful pieces and I could have spent a lot more £. A fantastic experience all round

Exceptional service from start to finish. The ring we ordered wasnt in stock despite saying it was, but they made it from scratch for us and had it delivered within the week, which we were nervous about as we were imminently travelling for our wedding. The piece is beautiful and even better than we expected. Huge thanks to Leah and the team, exceptional customer service throughout.
