I’ve had a wonderful experience applying to the University of Europe for Applied Sciences. The student advising team’s swift responses and practical support were fantastic, but what truly stands out is the deep sense of confidence, ease, and value they instilled in me throughout the entire journey.

In the words of Maya Angelou, a celebrated American poet who said “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”. This has been my story with Ivy Palope, my program advisor. She was exceptional in her guidance throughout the admission and tuition deposit process. Her clear communication and timely assistance have made navigating the application as an international student incredibly smooth. I am deeply appreciative of the admissions team’s outstanding support. It has left an unforgettable impact in my life.

I am writing this review to share my personal experience regarding a tuition fee refund from the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE).

After my study plans could not proceed due to circumstances beyond my control, I requested a refund of the tuition fees I had already paid. My requests were repeatedly refused, and what followed was several months of uncertainty, frustration, and significant emotional stress for both myself and my parents.

A substantial amount of money remained tied up while meaningful progress on the matter was extremely difficult to achieve. Apart from communications refusing my refund request, there was effectively no engagement at all regarding a resolution. Even the possibility of a partial refund was consistently rejected, while other circumstances relevant to my situation appeared not to be given any attention at all. Despite repeated attempts to resolve the matter directly with the university, the situation remained entirely stagnant.

Eventually, I had no choice but to seek legal assistance in Germany. Even after my legal counsel became involved, the university failed to respond to the first formal legal correspondence and ignored the deadline that had been set.

Only after the matter was formally escalated by my legal counsel, legal action was actively being prepared, and the university was confronted with the prospect of litigation did it begin to engage with the dispute. It was only at this stage, when the possibility of court proceedings became real, that the university changed its position, entered into settlement discussions, and ultimately agreed to issue a refund.

I eventually recovered the vast majority of my tuition fees only thanks to my lawyer. However, the process took several months, required professional legal intervention, and caused a significant amount of unnecessary financial and emotional stress.

What I found most disappointing is that meaningful progress only occurred after legal counsel became involved. In my view, the matter could and should have been resolved much earlier through constructive communication, transparency, and a more reasonable approach to the circumstances of the case.

As an international student, I found it deeply concerning that I ultimately had to engage a lawyer simply to obtain a meaningful response and resolution regarding my own funds. No student should have to endure months of uncertainty and extreme emotional and financial stress while a substantial amount of prepaid tuition remains inaccessible.

Prospective international students should think really hard before making any payment to them.

This review reflects my personal experience and the documented sequence of events that occurred in my case.
