The staff were super friendly in every way, showed us around the rooms with a great deal of knowledge and enthusiasm.
The room was exemptionally clean and every detail was thought of.The bar staff were really polite, courteous and knew their stuff.
We had an exceptionally delicious evening meal that melted in our mouths.
Every question and query was dealt with in a professional manner and nothing was too much trouble.
We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone.

Outstanding service and a beautiful Hotel .

Just returned from a 1 night stay to celebrate our Anniversary and the whole experience was fantastic . A big thank you for our room upgrade and especially to Marc Maganza who welcomed us on Reception who was extremely professional and attentive.

We have been staying at this Hotel now for over 20 years and visit 2-3 times per year and will not stay anywhere else when visiting Manchester .

We have recently stayed at The Midland Hotel in Manchester, what a stunning property.

We booked a night prior to our Weekend to The Spanish Grand Prix with Vedere Travel, such a warm welcome from the reception staff, the hotel is beautiful, welcome gift and wine in our room from our travel company.

We can't wait to start our Holiday, highly recommend this hotel for a short break in the city.

My daughter booked this hotel for my 50th birthday. To say the hotel is stunning is an understatement. The rooms are very spacious and very clean. The staff here are lovely and very helpful especially Charlie and Mackenzie who I dealt with. Nothing was too much bother for them and we got a complimentary drink as it was my birthday.

My daughter paid for a full body massage for me which was super relaxing and the girl Holly who did my massage was lovely and made me feel really welcomed and comfortable. I have fibromyalgia so she took that into account and I can honestly say it was one of the best massages I have had. The rest room afterwards is beautiful and very relaxing too with soft music with water and herbal teas to help yourself to. Everything about the spa was amazing.

My whole experience with this hotel was amazing. The staff really do go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. I will definitely be staying here again.

Recently stay at the Midland Hotel for my 50th birthday. All the staff including Anna and Ricki were fantastic. I stay here on a regular basis and enjoy, but this was different level. They all went above and beyond.

Executive King bedroom stay.

Easy checkin on arrival with only the £1 City Tax to pay.
Exit the lift on 6th floor where a not very nice unwelcome smell of stale water lingers.
Room is huge and very spacious but that's as good as it gets. The furniture is old and the sofa and chairs aren't big enough to be comfortable.
The bed is big but the lack of pillows is noticeable and the pillows are hard and uncomfortable to sleep on.
No robes or slippers, Only 4 coffee pods. Leaking sink in bathroom.
There is a desk and mirror which is becoming an uncommon feature, so my wife was able to get ready with no fuss.
We arrived late and ordered room service which wasn't value for money in our opinion and is not presented very well.
Would we stay again? Probably not. The Edwardian has a better room and The Kimpton better food.

I was really looking forward to a trip with my daughter and was just about to book when the price went up! apparently this changes every 24hrs and there was nothing they could do. Not very friendly , very unhelpful and not a very transparent pricing system.
what a shame I thought they would be wanting to have guest?

Stayed in the midland for nye was a bit disappointed to say it was £200 a night I normally really like the midland but as we got to the room there was pornography on the tv we rang up the spa as they told us it was shutting at 4 but can only check in from 3 so there was no spaces so we booked for 9am we requested robes from down stairs and they never came up so we couldn't use the the spa, the shower was quite old and didn't really work, won’t be returning for them prices but staff was very polite and friendly

Lunch was awful chips hard soup tasteless cheese on toast was basic and hardly melted don’t go you will be disappointed

Stunning venue, but nothing else.
Afternoon tea for five paid for by our daughter who, in line with many young people struggling with mortgages and life, isn't very rich.
So, special occasion, what do you get for 5 people for well North of £200?
The answer is...
10 slices of thick bread cut into finger sized sandwiches shared between the five of us.
Four pre-prepared fillings ranging from okay, through mediocre to downright awful.
Scones, 1 each, obviously, some warm clotted cream and some jam.
Four small, and I mean small, pre-made cakes. I know they're pre-made because some of them had cream in and that cream was warm as well.
And a pot of tea each.
You get an old fashioned tea strainer on the table. YOU DONT NEED IT. There's not enough loose tea in the pot to need to use it so no matter how long you leave it to brew it will still be dish water.
As this was an afternoon tea, and there's no clue as to the restrictions on the amount of tea you can have and you're charged for any extra tea you want. And it's not a couple of pounds but enough to put the cost of the meal up from £175 to nearer £230.
And the best part of that is when I finally caught the attention of the waitress she came over to us, started taking the order and, before I could get more than three words out she simply walked away.
And, finally.
If you go out for an evening meal, be it an Indian, Italian pizzeria or other mid priced restaurant and you order a starter, main course and sweet, they take away the used plates and cutlery and give you some new, clean ones.
Not here though.
Here you use the same plates and cutlery for the entire meal. And when we got the extra tea the old tea pots were just left there.
It's not even a joke.
If you ran a greasy spoon cafe at the seaside like this you'd be laughed out of business in a month but, because this is in a reasonably well appointed venue they get away with anything.
Except, I think, pouring the dregs of the used bottles of champagne, sold by the glass, into an empty bottle, in full view of the customers and trying to convince them it's a new bottle.
So thanks to the elderly gentleman who stood up and raged at the staff when they tried it on him and his family that afternoon.
But, sarcasm aside this place is awful. Poor, unimaginative menu, disinterested staff, and an utter lack of focus on proffesialism.
So, if you read this and still go there that's on you. You have been warned.

We enjoyed our bar meal of southern fried chicken burger and steak frites at the Midland Hotel, Manchester yesterday evening. Both were tasty, the steak was succulent and cooked to perfection. But why did we get two small pots of Heinz ketchup for free, but a similar quantity of English mustard dolloped in a small bowl was £2? This was not shown as such on the menu. Service was slow and had to be summoned each time, so after an hour we left without having dessert.

I attended a conference today at your hotel. It was a large conference of 300 people. We were asked prior to attending the event, if we could please state our dietary requirements which I stated I am vegan and they replied they have informed your events coordinator and all I need to do on the day was to ask one of the staff and they will guide me.

Today, at the event, when it came to lunch time, I had to ask a few of the serving staff where are the vegan options were, however they were not aware and eventually the senior staff member indicated that he will need to go to the kitchen and ask the chef. He eventually came back and presented me with a bowl of rice with tinned tomato on top with some fresh chilli. I asked him if this was the only option and he stated yes and also asked what was for dessert and he indicated the fruit platter. Now putting this in prospective, EVERYBODY else at the conference had a variety of salads, pastas, chicken, pizza slices, crumbed meat sticks, dessert slices, chocolate biscuits, fresh fruit, etc etc.

For an organisation with your stature and star rating surely your head chef could have come up with something a little more interesting than a bowl of rice with tinned tomato on top. I couldn’t eat it as I am not a fan of chilli.

I understand I was the minority but if I only ate Halaal, Kosher, etc foods surely you would cater for them? or maybe not?

Currently staying but not sleeping at the hotel. Firstly after a very long day, we finally got into bed and my husband found a vape under the pillow. Whether this meant housekeeping had dropped or worse the beds hadn’t been changed, who knows? So we trudge downstairs just before 11pm and the night supervisor apologised and asked if we wanted something comping. We said firstly we’d like the beds to be changed. He agreed and arranged this. Almost half an hour later our room was finally ready. Great I’m thinking a good nights sleep because the mattress felt comfy after sitting on it. The mattress was, the pillows, however were rock hard. So bad that after I woke not long after falling asleep with an awful pain in my neck, I chucked them at the bottom of the bed and slept without them. The air conditioning didn’t work, we currently have it on full “blow” and the lowest setting (blue and not red). The fan outside the room should have given away the fact that there might be an issue with temperature in the rooms. At 5am I finally went down to reception to ask about a softer pillow, hadn’t wanted to ring down as my husband had managed to fall asleep and I didn’t want to disturb him and as a female, wasn’t comfortable going down any earlier on my own. Asked for a softer pillow hit was told sorry they are all the same. Then was told someone had gone to get me a softer one, after 10 mins one was offered but felt exactly the same (hard in the middle mainly), so I declined. Mentioned about the room temp and was told they are having issues and upgrading, had I made sure the sun icon was selected and not the ice as apparently that was for cooling the room. I explained my husband had checked after I’d said I couldn’t get it be cool. He said it was on max cool but still it was very hot and with no temp display, we had no idea what the temp was. The duvet, which was soft but very thick spent the night with the pillows at the bottom of the bed and I was still hot. On returning to the room, I checked the ac control and there is no snowflake or sun so either this is the old version the receptionist told me about or it’s the new version that doesn’t work either. The staff were helpful and we have our breakfast comped for last night after we were offered a free drink from the bar for the bedding issue (we don’t drink and one drink doesn’t make up for what potentially is poor housekeeping) so we asked for another room which they didn’t do but said they would change the bedding and then we said what about comping breakfast and they kindly gave us vouchers for that. Hoping that this will be outstanding as so far, we aren’t happy or satisfied. Such a shame as it looks amazing in the lobby and the room was decorated well. But if the beds are uncomfortable, well the main point of a hotel stay is a comfy bed so as far as I’m concerned, this hotel is well below par. Will be speaking to management when we leave. Very disappointed.

E mailed several times to enquire about Christmas lunch this year. No response at all. Eventually rang them - passes to and from different areas etc and told the menu would be out October 31st ! Other hotels in Manchester have responded with menus, costs and times available . Apparently the Midland are prohibited from even telling me what the cost was last year!!! Awful service. Shall not be waiting for them to book !

Lovely old hotel, great room and breakfast. Service is first class. Staff friendly. WiFi is good.

We went for breakfast yesterday.. granted it was 10 am but it was awful 😢 all food dried out and tasteless .. bacon like cardboard. Even hash browns were solid . Juices not fresh at all they were like cordial and tasted dreadful . At £20 for a breakfast we expected something wonderful. Staff were lovely that’s our only positive to take away sadly . A real shame as a lovely hotel in a great location.

Staff were friendly but service was very slow. Very expensive and no table service. They also had added tips to every receipt without consent. When approached about this they gave us one free drink and one free soft drink. Wouldn’t recommend.

My husband and I decided to spend a bit more than usual to treat ourselves for our 10th anniversary. The decor of the building as very attractive. But the room wasn't any better than our usual Holiday Inn type. In fact, on arrival the bathroom hadnt been cleaned properly - the sink had tealeaves in it and was blocked. And there was a dirty mark on the top where someone's bar of soap had been and no replacement soap for us. We rang reception to get it sorted (hoping to just change rooms). They said they would send someone to sort it out but after we returned from eating out, it hadn't been done. We informed the receptionist in person on our way back out that evening and on our return the sink was done but still no soap. We used the body wash instead. We did mention it upon checking out and offered a refund.

Good things about the room, the bed was very firm and comfy, there was lots of tea and coffee to choose from and a couple of biscuits. However, I expected something a bit more impressive for this type of hotel - maybe some chocolates or more biscuits. When we have stayed in other hotels there has been a four poster bed and little touches around the room to make you feel welcome, like a teddybear on the bed.

We mentioned it was our 10 year anniversary and got a complimentary drink token but it was for wine etc and I don't like that, I prefer spirits or Cocktails, so I paid for mine, which didn't feel like a treat. Also there just aren't enough staff for the amount of guests. The bar was swarmed and it took ages to get served, then my drink was nowhere near as good as I have had literally anywhere else - it tasted watered down. The tables were all dirty with previous guests' leftover drinks, which didn't give a good impression either.

At breakfast there was a huge queue to get into the dining room - again giving the impression they were either understaffed, disorganised or just don't have enough facilities to attend to the number of guests. The breakfast was serve yourself, whereas in other hotels they usually bring you cooked breakfast and a hot drink and you get the extra stuff yourself. It was a bit of a free for all with food running out quickly and staff unable to keep up with making sure there was enough food for demand.

I think we had high expectations because of the star rating but it was very disappointing. We could have got a better experience in a cheaper hotel. It was ashame because the look of the hotel and the service were at complete opposing ends of the spectrum.

I will say all staff were pleasant and helpful but all seemed completely run off their feet. I think the staff or facilities need increasing. I'm sad to say we really don't feel compelled to return.

Real shame. Came here 5 years ago and had a fantastic time but sadly, not this time. Check in was quick and efficient and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Thats where it ends I’m afraid. Avoid the cocktails as they are from a machine and you pay £9 for a glass of froth, totally tasteless. As for the restaurant, it was like queuing for a buffet at butlins. The menus on the table were the wrong ones so after stood waiting to order we were told it’s the wrong menu so had to get a different menu then wait again to order. By this time, KFC was a tempting alternative. Anyway, real shame, the outside needs cleaning and painting as it’s looking dated. Hope they sort it out and invite me back for a free stay which I deserve as it’s my birthday and throw in the best room in the hotel
