My £39 annual subscription with the…
My £39 annual subscription with the Daily Telegraph is due to expire very soon, they have sent me a reminder stating that the renewal fee will be £199.
I have had very annoying experiences in the past from this company and unfortunately there is no 'cancel my account' button, instead they insist I call 03309 127113 and speak to a 'member of our friendly team'. I don't want to call them, I simply want to cancel the account.
I've spoken to their 'friendly team' in the past, trying to cancel a previous account, and was bombarded with special offers via email and requests to call them, they don't take no for an answer.
The expiring £39 subscription wasn't worth the money, I don't like paying good money to be served up with what I consider to be crude propaganda, the ranting of warmongers, vulgar jingoism and disinformation.
I have seen that others in this Trustpilot Telegraph thread have had money taken from their account - and it is difficult to get it back.
It must be against consumer law to operate in this fashion, they need to put a "I want to cancel this account immediately" box in the subscriptions section of the online 'My Account' details.
I do not have a recurring subscription and if they take this money without my agreement there will be some awkwardness to follow.

Do not be tempted to sign up for a free trial - - it is incredibly difficult to cancel, the customer service staff are atrocious and you will end up both extremely frustrated and significantly out of pocket.
The level of complexity associated with the cancellation process is such that TMG appear to be actively trying to make it as difficult as possible to walk away. Borderline scam operation.
Shoddy, second rate company.
I am still eating for a refund of £247 for a cancelled subscription taken out of my account 03/03/25.
They have admitted that they are at fault. I am a pensioner and it’s a lot of money.
Second rate, shoddy and completely disrespectful to customers.
0.4 out of 5 is a terrible rating .
0.4 out of 5 is a terrible rating .. i would close the paper down if i was them
Beware
Beware, 3 month free trail ends 48hours before the deadline. You are not forewarned. They deduct your subscription €19.99. There’s no mention of it anywhere although they say it’s in their Ts&Cs.
Paypal refunded me as they didn’t respond in time to my appeal. Avoid or cancel well before deadline.
Underhanded and sly.
Infuriatingly Unreliable!
I am sick to death with their 'clickbait' reporting which appears regularly in my newsfeed. Their headlines are terribly misleading and the accompanying articles, distorted and unsubstantiated...Consequently, 'The Telegraph' epitomises 'post truth' news reporting and so in my opinion, should be avoided at all costs!
I signed up for the digital 1 month…
I signed up for the digital 1 month free trial on 11th March which states 1 month free, then 2 months for £1, then £14.99 per month unless cancelled.
Since I didn't know at this stage if I would want to continue the subscription, I went into my account to turn off the autorenew since I should be able to decide myself after any trial period if I want to continue after trying the product at the deal advertised. After all, this is the nature of a "trial". I would not have signed up at all if I had thought I could not cancel and was locked into a monthly payment regardless - but what I read before signing up assured me that I could cancel, so I went ahead. However, I was first very frustrated to find I needed to call a customer service agent to cancel the autorenew (always a sneaky sales tactic in my view) then when I confirmed whether I would still have access for the months I had signed up for and was told I would - backed up in the terms and conditions I'd read - I actually then had my access stopped the same day, and now I cannot get a trial as apparently I have used this up - over the 2 hours I had it. An email to customer services has gone completely unanswered. If this is how they run their business i'm not sure I would trust their journalism. I was genuinely looking to sign up for a yearly subscription after the trial but will now think twice.
Two bit, shoddy organisation
The Telegraph admitted that they are at fault. This has taken three weeks, ‘phone calls and emails.
They assured me that my refund would be issued and here I am still waiting for it!
The Telegraph has gone from a prestigious organisation to a two bit, shoddy enterprise that just doesn’t consider it customers. Read the Times, it’s a far superior read anyway!

This newspaper is running an anti electric vehicle campaign. Their last ridiculous article was that EVs are *so* heavy they can crash motorway barriers! I assume all this misinformation is funded by the fossil fuel industry.
No more biased than the Guardian
No more biased than the Guardian, Mirror, Financial Times ,but has more dynamic writing particularly the business and opinion sections.
DO NOT ACCEPT ANY TRIALS
Signed up to a free trial and months later get charged £15. Tried to get the funds back as they admitted they do not send any reminders. You have to cancel at the start of your free trial otherwise they take the money regardless and you're not entitled to a refund.
Very scummy tactic to get money. Many other companies offer a free trial and spell out that they will remind you a few times before money is actually taken and even if taken, you still have a grace period to get it refunded.
I was a subscriber for a few years but…
I was a subscriber for a few years but am so glad I dumped it even though it’s almost free with the discounts they offer you to stay which says everything about how they want to push their anti Russian and pro war propaganda on you. Most other articles are for wealthy boomers protecting their pensions. Not really right wing anymore…. Just pro war mostly

Fairly impartial
The Telegraph used to be known as the Torygraph. That hasn't really been the case for the last 5-10 years. I can say from experience reading their newspaper and watching their youtube videos that they are fairly unbiased now (not completely unbiased and not always to the right either). Next to The Times, I think this is the closest you'll get to impartial news from mainstream media.
I'd recommend that you always look at the other reviews that those who are calling this right wing have left and look for biases. Normally you'll see that they're heavily left leaning. And of course go and watch a youtube video from the telegraph and verify for yourself where they sit on the political spectrum.
Always pushing hate and lies
Always pushing hate and lies. Very right wing bias. Aka the Torygraph for its relentless bs content. Fox News in a Top hat. Snobby arrogant and often wrong.
The Telegraph tells the truth .
The Telegraph tells the truth so all the isis flag waving terrorist fiddlers do not bother reading this paper or if you are a liberal tree hugging avocado nut maybe stay at home with your benefits money and vote ed davy by post . If you work hard and attempt to prosper buy the Telegraph
Used to alright, now it's a knock off mail/fox news at best
Not sure what happened here. I used to read telegraph, but it's now about as bad as the Daily Hate (Mail). Or a UK version of Fox news. It's spreading hate and harmful ideologies to the people unfortunate enough to read it.

I used to like the quality economic and business commentary in the Telegraph and was a long time reader. However it appears to have become dogmatic and idealogically aligned to a rather extreme right wing view of the world. This has tainted what should be objective commentary. If you have ultra right wing views that you need re-enforcing this maybe for you.
