Well, from what i am reading here, this company is conducting different behaviors in order to get more and more money without offering a service. I mean, some of you say the told you your subscription cannot be cancelled until paying. In my case, they cancelled my account but are still asking me for money... Funny, different procedures...

My experience:

After having a look at a trial of this magazine I decided I wasn't interested. Never again have I visited their web until some days ago when I received a postal letter telling me this was the second notice for me to pay around 60 euros plus an 8-euro charge for the letter (I don't know exactly how it works in Germany but in other European countries it is ilegal to demand any additional tax beyond the supposed debt, which is another clue on the illicit practices of this company). They claimed I was subscribed and hadn't paid and they threatened to take me to the court. For the trial no card number was requiered, something I found wiered for the times we are living today... (It's funny because for a standard subscriptions without a trial period you can use your card). So... Anybody could just write a name of anybody he would like to bother and write his postal adress just for him to receive at some moment letters from this company asking for his money and threatening him... Any other serious company could charge you after a trial taking your money from your card and, if you cancel it without using the service, they give your money back (that's the real and guess legal key, whether you've used the service or not, in order to claim for your money). Otherwise, this company ask you for your money without you signing a contract nor using their service... Indeed, after reading that threatening letter, I tried to log in and discovered that my mail didn't exist as a user when trying to recover the password, supossing I should have a user if they were trying to charge me for whatever service!! I am freaking out.

In addition, I received a second postal letter (third notice from them, they say) the 10th of this month telling me to pay before the 6th :)))). It's like moking at us. If I don't pay by the 6th, they say they will proceed legaly what will incur in addition costs for me. The funniest thing is that these letters are not registered. In the legal world, such kind of notices are always registered.

I am sure they proceed this way intentionally so as to get more money. Really unethical, cause in the end I've never seen those supposed delivery I've received nor can I do it now. Soy they are trying to charge me for nothing.

They could make more money proceeding honestly, since I am a usual language-learning products consumer and, for sure, I'll never have anything to do with this company in the future, neither will anybody around me. I ensure that!

I have to add that, unlike the comment previous to mine, I wrote to the company mail and asked for the to unsubscribe me and they answered they did it. So the debt company is really using illicit practice to make you pay. How is it possible you are not able to unsubscribe and make your debt grow up??? Haha

Like many before me, they charged me (despite the fact that I did not sign a subscription contract), and when I did not respond to their e-mails - they sold my debts to an external company that demanded> 150E from me (after roughly 4 months of "subscription"). Not bad, isn't it? You cannot cancel your subscription yourself, the employee of the collection company informed me: "Your account is blocked because of the open invoice. You can cancel your subscription as soon as the amount of 150.61 Euro is paid." This is a scandal !!

Never test anything with them, they silently sign you up. I did not see that and immediately they start sending warnings with higher and higher costs. No customer support. Ripping off people!

HORRIBLE taking my money without me being aware i was already into their subscription - not clearly stated!!!! i just wish they'd given any back to me :((( i didn't even fully understand german - logically as i wanted to learn heheh

Ich habe ein Angebot für ein Gratisheft in Anspruch genommen und einige Wochen später eine Rechnung für ein Abo erhalten. Ich habe auf keinen Fall ein kostenpflichtiges Abo abgeschlossen und habe deswegen einen Nachweis vom Verlag verlangt, dass ich tatsächlich dieses Abo abgeschlossen habe. Ich warte immer noch darauf. Auf keinen Fall ein Gratisheft von Spotlight Verlag bestellen!

Warnung vor dem Spotlight-Verlag: Ich habe ein Ecoute-Geschenkabo abgeschlossen. Anschließend versuchte ich mehrfach telefonisch und elektronisch den Verlag zu erreichen, um eine Benachrichtigung der Beschenkten zu erbitten. Ein vom Anrufbeantworter angekündigter Rückruf blieb aus. Heute erreichte ich endlich jemand, Frau Schöner, wenn ich den Namen richtig verstanden habe. Sie war kurz angebunden und erklärte mir, dass das der Verlag nicht mache - ich könnte ja die elektronische Bestätigung ausdrucken ... Eigenartige Vorstellungen vom Kundenservice. Das ist das letzte Abo, das ich mit diesem Verlag abgeschlossen und bezahlt habe.

I live in a dorm in Germany and got a few issues of this magazine chucked into my mailbox over the course of several months. Other students were also receiving this magazines and there were so many of them, all the floor was covered with them. I want to stress, that neither me, nor any other student that I know from my dorm had actually subscribed for this - we received this unwillingly, basically as a garbage in our mailboxes. I didn't pay attention at first when this happened, but then it kept happening and they started to send me letters, saying that I allegedly owed them money for the hard copies they'd sent. Which is bs, because I hadn't even known about the existence of this magazine, before I found it in my mailbox. But the story goes on - I was still receiving the letters from them, but was ignoring them, when they started writing me emails and calling my number!!! I have no idea how they'd found this out, maybe some privacy breach or whatever, but it happened. From then on they started terrorizing me with calls and emails, till one time I ran out of patience and had a heated conversation with them, during which I was swearing a lot at them, calling them a scammer-company and threating with police. After this they stopped harassing me, the silence period lasted for 4 months, when I've recently found a new paper letter from them in my mailbox and was furious enough to find this place to leave my complaint.

Ich bin begeistert von der 12. Auflage 2021 des
Ecoute Heftes über die französische Literatur und habe für meinen Bekanntenkreis bereits 7 Hefte nachbestellt.
Wie wäre es ,wenn Sie im nächsten Jahr so einen informativen Überblick über die Kunst, Geschichte oder Geografie herausgeben würden.
Da ich auch Adesso und Eco lese, könnte ich mir einen solch informativen Gesamtüberblick als sehr hilfreich vorstellen. Gabriele Franz

I managed with them. Did not paid even a single cent. I informed myself about my rights and turned out that there was never a mutual agreement between us. This subscription was not legally binding. As long they did not send you contract in writing and informed about possiblilty of cancellation (Widerrufsrecht), you dont owe them. I downloaded Munsterbriefs from Verbraucherzentralle website and send them ,,Widerruf des Abschlusses des Vertrags'' and then also i urged them to cancel all my personal data to not contact me anymore with second mail - ,,Widerruf der Einwilligung und Löschung personenbezogener Daten'' and all worked out perfectly. Even visit at lawyer was not needed.

Beware. You see an advert for a free issue, download it and then receive a bill for a subscription you never made. You receive a letter by post threatining with legal action.

Ich habe mir als Schüler drei Versionen von den Zeitungen bestellt - also Ecos, Spotlight und Spotlight Business - da gerade die Aktion lief, dass man als erste Probe nur 0,99€ zahlen musste. Gesagt getan. In der Bestätigungsemail war extra angeführt, dass man das "Abo" innerhalb von 10 Tagen kündigen kann, ansonsten verrechnen sie den Betrag von einem halben Jahr Zeitungserhalt sprich 7 Ausgaben. Ich habe per Email alle drei am selben Tag noch gekündigt und eine automatisch erstellte Email erhalten, dass sie es bedauern aber meine Kündigung wahrnehmen. Das Problem hierbei: zwei Wochen später bekam ich die zweite Ausgabe von Business und Ecos und tatsächlich hat man mir den ganzen Betrag von ca 60€ auch schon vom Konto gebucht. Nach zahlreichen Emails kamen immer noch automatisch erstellte Emails zurück und niemand kümmerte sich darum, dass es richtig gestellt wird. Ich hab teilweise viertel Stunden in der Warteschleife der Telefonauskunft gewartet, bis sich endlich jemand um das Problem angenommen hat. Schlussendlich hat es zwar geklappt, dass alle Abos gekündigt worden sind, jedoch ist es richtig umständlich und daher nicht zu empfehlen...

Recently I have a subscription of Deutsch Perfect and I have had access to the audio visual from september 2021 until 2016. But from now on, Deutsch Perfect has skipped the audio visual and send me information how to restore it. But nothing helps. I have tried everything. Their administration as I have experienced is chaotic. I have cancelled my subscription because the workers are not professionnal and not willing to help you.

Please note this fraud company. They advertise false, and then send legal threats to pay.

Beware!! Absolute bullies!

As so many others I saw on the website a free sample of their magaize was offered and they only asked for your postal address to send it. No card number or payment whatsoever was required, only your postal address to receive the 'free sample'. In any logical world in case you liked the magazine you would ask for a subscription. Well, not here.

To my surprise I began very quickly to receive more magazines and letters at home asking for money. I couldn't believe it since I had not asked for any subscription in the first place. Then I began to receive constant court threatens until the situation was so unbearable that I decided to send them the money they were asking for. To make a long story short, they sent 4 samples of their magazine to my home and collected a debt of 124 euros. Unbelievable, right?

I never write reviews but I am so upset that I wanted to warn other people so that the same thing doesn't happen to them. The people from this company are absolute bullies. They take advante of their potential customers, people who don't understand German well. They deceive, trap you and then bully you until they can get as much money from you as possible. Can't understand why this company is still functioning. Their behavour is unprofessional, immoral and indecent. All I can say is... stay away from these people!

Hatte Adesso mehrere Jahre im Abo. Nach Kritik an einer blödsinnigen, zwar formal berechtigten aber überhaupt nicht kundenfreundlichen Mahnung, nach Kritik an der unsinnigen 14maligen Erscheinungsweise, nach Kritik an der wachsenden „Die Zeit“-Kultur wurde mein Abo seitens des Verlags ohne weitere Rückfrage gekündigt. Ich weine aber meinem Abo keine Träne nach. Die Sprachzeitschrift ist eigentlich in Ordnung. Aber die Versuche des Verlags aus dem Produkt immer mehr Ertrag herauszupressen widern mich an

Freche Mahngebühren und keine Warnungen vor Aboverlängerungen.

Leider 1 Stern muss gegeben werden.
Bin ebenfalls in die Abofalle getappt, konnte alles zum Glück beweisen (Emails mit Anlagen und zum Glück das Gratisexemplar noch original verschweißt) habe 1 Widerspruchschreiben gemacht mit Drohung, dass ich zum Anwalt gehe und alles per Einschreiben nachgeschickt.... da wurden sie schnell gleich heute, soeben kam:

auf Nachfrage bei unserer Auftraggeberin können wir Ihnen mitteilen, dass diese den Vorgang bei uns zurückgenommen hat und wir die Bearbeitung eingestellt haben.

I downloaded an app for studying german ("deutsch perfect trainer"), and the app contains an offer for the spotlight verlag magazine. It doesn't say anything about prices to pay or a commitment to pay. I guess okayed it (there was no price mentioned - who thought it would be such a scam), and started recieving the magazines to my mailbox. Don't think i opened any to read. Today i got by regular mail a letter demanding 68 euros. This is a full scale scam. Not sure if i get a lawyer or just egnore it. This is a full scale scam. I read other people have paid but i have not intention to feul this scam.

Aller Anschein eines Betrugs. Es wird um Gratisausgaben geworben, falls man das Malheur hat zu reagieren bekommt man später Rechnungen für ein automatisches Abo und obwohl man empört antwortet kommen Mahnungen. Man hat schnell den Verdacht auf Betrug und kann nur noch zum Anwalt oder zur Polizei gehen oder den Rechtsschutz einschalten wenn man ihn hat.

What should I do if they want to make me pay through the court? I didn’t order or get any magazines from them. Just ignore?
