Disappointing Customer Experience
Really disappointed with the whole experience from start to finish.
For an item that was advertised as being in stock, I do not feel that a three-week delivery lead time is acceptable. Then, the day before the scheduled delivery, I received a call from the manufacturer—outside of their advertised working hours—to say they hadn’t even been able to build the shed yet. This resulted in a further week’s delay.
Then, as if things couldn’t get any worse, on the revised delivery date I received another call to say there had been yet another problem and they were unable to deliver that day.
When the delivery finally did arrive, I had to offer to help the driver unload the items from the vehicle. Quite honestly, I have no idea how he would have managed to offload the product safely without either injuring himself or potentially damaging the shed.
Overall, the communication, delivery timescales and delivery process have been extremely disappointing and this will be my first and last experience with Shire.

Very poor service
The delivery was made by one person which meant that he arrived later than planned and for me to get to my appointment I had to help him. One piece of glass was smashed and the front panel (with window holes) was damaged. I contacted your service the day after and arranged a replacement to be delivered on 22nd. This did not materialise and not given another date.

Following your call on 23rd September, we arranged the replacements for 28th September. Unfortunately, that delivery could not go ahead, and a text notification was sent that morning. We apologise for the further delay in resolving this.
Your replacement delivery is now booked for Monday 5th October, with a voicemail left and a confirmation email issued on 1st October.
We’re sorry that we haven’t put this right sooner and for the frustration caused.

What a hassle, good luck if you order!
Whilst the product will eventually be nice when we’ve got it complete and in situ, the process has been frustrating and very disappointing.

We ordered our clematis corner arbour on the 28th June and only now, on the 28th Sept do we actually have all the pieces correct for us to assemble and build. That’s 3 months! Too late to enjoy our arbour this summer.
1. The delivery date on the order advertised one week, they then gave us a 4 week ahead date. When I complained it was brought forward a week to 24th July but was still far longer so don’t believe what the site says - that’s just to get your order.
2. On delivery. 3 of the main support posts were badly split and you wouldn’t have been able to securely attach the other pieces. They were replaced but we had to wait more weeks for these to arrive. This was reported immediately.
3. We gave all the pieces a couple of coats of Cuprinol garden shades, which took a few weekends given the number of pieces and you have to do front and back, and when it was all ready, we started to build, only to discover that the RH bench seat was 3-5 cms short - a distance too great to be pulled in by tightening screws. Had to send photos and video to prove. More weeks wait. Piece was replaced but we were then on holiday. Got back and had to start to paint again.
4. Re-started the build only to discover that the LH seat back had the support struts on upside down. More hassle and phone calls. Again video and photos sent. They agreed it was wrong and sent the replacement part.
5. A part was delivered but the wrong part…they sent the seat base not the back despite their own emails to me confirming the correct part and part number! Can’t they get anything right!
6. Correct part now finally arrived and we can paint again and finally finish the job.
7. I requested a goodwill gesture of the refund of the cost of the extra can of Cuprinol we had to buy given two large pieces had to be painted from scratch. It was refused. Honestly wasn’t much to ask given our hassles.
Overall, the build isn’t easy and the product is heavy. There are gaps between pieces but with persistence, strength and tightness you can largely close these. There are a couple of small errors in the booklet with the instructions:, for example instruction 15 refers to RH seat back at the top but the picture down the side says LH - given you’ve already fitted the RH one in step 9 you’ll realise. But just check each step is our advice.
So good luck if you order one of these.
It is a solid and attractive piece when finished but as one delivery driver told me, they deliver loads of replacement parts, so be warned.

We’re sorry for the problems with your Clematis Corner Arbour and the time and effort it has taken to reach this stage. We understand your disappointment at not being able to enjoy it over the summer.
To give some context to the overall timescale, the issues were reported separately as assembly progressed. Following delivery on 24th July and replacement of the posts, the seat base issue was reported on 23rd August, with its replacement received on 27th August. The seat back issue was subsequently reported on 20th September. We recognise, however, that these faults caused additional work and disruption.
Sending the wrong replacement after confirming the part required added to your frustration, and we apologise for that mistake. We also appreciate that repainting the replacement components involved extra time and expense. Your request for reimbursement of the paint was considered but declined, and we understand your disappointment with that decision.
Thank you for confirming that the correct final part arrived on 28th September and for highlighting the points about the assembly instructions. We hope you can now complete and enjoy your arbour, and we’re sorry that both the initial delivery timescale and the replacement process fell short of your expectations.

Terrible experience with this company and safety of playhouse
I purchased the Shire Lodge Playhouse. Every single online retailer selling this play house states it is supplied with a full length piano hinge for safety. Mine was just supplied with three ordinary hinges. After my daughter badly caught her fingers in the door, I contacted shire to request they please supply the safety hinge. After promising me a call back, I heard nothing and called them back several days later. They admitted that they could see all the retailers online stating the playhouse comes with a full length safety hinge, but they refused to provide me with one, stating if I wanted one I would have to pay for it. Terrible service. I would avoid this company and be wary if ordering this playhouse that your children’s fingers don’t get trapped in the door, as they are not providing the safety hinge being advertised. Very disappointing given the price of over £1500 for this play house, they wouldn’t honour the safety hinge being advertised. They expressed no concern for the injury my daughter sustained to her fingers either.

Two panels damaged and being replaced.On another the wood was warped and on another before I put it together the wind blew it over it landed on a stone which went straight through the panel. I haven’t asked

Regarding the panel that blew over, these are large, heavy panels, and falling onto a stone can cause significant impact damage. This is separate from the damage reported on arrival, but we can advise on replacement options if needed.

Wrong shed then late shed..
Wrong shed delivered originally despite correct shed being on countersigned manifesto. CS arranged for correct shed to be delivered a week later. No gesture of good will offered.
Again, spent all day in waiting for a shed (no email, text on either occasion). Shed arrived early afternoon next day as driver had run out of hours but why NO CONTACT.
Shed is as expected.
Logistics are well below expectations.

You get what you pay for. (bought from B&Q)
Delivery.
The 1st, real failing was that B&Q states a 14 day delivery so I order4ed this to coincide with getting other work done at home so my contractors could assemble it for me. Ordered 14/08, first delivery date promised was 04/09 so 21 days and after my contractors had finished. I called the manufacturer (Shire) and they offered no change just saying they had told B&Q they cannot meet the 14 days. To add insult to injury Shire then cancelled that delivery and delivered on the 11/09, 28 days from date of order or double what was promised when ordered. It then was delivered by one person who struggled to do it so rather than watch him suffer in the rain I ended up off loading it with him, annoyingly with no acknowledgment or thanks (communication was very difficult) – You are welcome!
Quality.
This is inexpensive compared to other garden buildings and the quality of the wood explains why. it is as thin as you could possibly get to stay together (barely).
Assembly.
You need a degree in DIY to build this thing. What you need to know is:
There are a number of 'you will need tools' missing from the list in the instructions.
Not a single hole you need to drill or nail is pre-marked so you need to figure out where to drill yourself.
The back is made up of 3 sections that have to line up perfectly if you want the roof to fit. Unfortunately, the tolerance from the thinnest wood on the planet does not allow for adjustments.
The sides are two panels each, again they need to be spot on.
The front is 7 components (including doors and windows), which you need to brace as you construct (not in the instructions), if you want the doors to work.
There are no instructions to tell you where to drill/screw, no measurements nothing, it's up to you. – who knew I can now fit window frames and doors.
There are 4 pieces of wood left over when you finish and having 'read the book' many times go figure that they are the lower trims.
Stability.
The legs supplied are so thin, it made me nervous looking at them - I bought 3 x 2m lengths of 4x4 fence post and made my own in the hope it would therefore stay upright and not rot away in a year.
Weatherproofing.
The finish is variable to say the least. it appears to be sprayed on (judging by the outline of a staple gun where there is no coverage. The rest of it is spotty, uneven, splattered and like the wood so thin.
Aesthetics.
It does look nice, just don't look to close.
At the end of the day, I have a beech hut style summerhouse so what can you say.

Poor Communication and No Support From Chloe and Shire.
The complaint/review said the first delivery on 14 August arrived damaged and was refused, then the replacement delivery was even worse, with more cracks/damage, and it was left outside on the pavement without you being able to inspect it. You had already supplied photos, but the issue was still unresolved.

Quality of product (greenhouse) fantastic
Assembly and getting the right components to site (miserable)
Eventually after threatening with court action I received the greenhouse, assembled what I payed for (not cheap) by the way. Companies want to sell you expensive products but clean their hands of any difficulties of Assembly.
Customer service did their best, we Eventually got there.

The installation had been arranged with a separate assembly company, and the circumstances on site meant that the installation was being carried out in a way that differed from our recommended installation method. Great product
Once a delivery date was finally agreed, on the day of delivery no time slot was notified we just had to wait, but when it did arrive it well packaged and the delivery man was very helpful. The shed was very easy to assemble with full instructions. There was only one issue there was not enough felt nails provided so we had to buy more, but now up and very sturdy and everything fits correctly very pleased.
