Safestore - Barking and Dagenham Anmeldelser 

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience with Safestore Barking and Dagenham.

I understand that companies have terms and conditions, including notice periods. My complaint is not about the existence of those terms, but about the complete lack of flexibility and meaningful consideration of my individual circumstances.

When I originally booked storage, I chose a smaller unit. Safestore was unable to provide it, so I agreed to rent a larger, more expensive unit instead and paid the additional cost.

I had been a paying customer since mid-May and always kept my account up to date. I received an invoice for the next billing period on 21 July and contacted Safestore just two days later, on 23 July, to advise that I would be vacating the unit. I then cleared the unit immediately, meaning I was no longer using the storage space.

I explained that I had recently moved home during a very stressful period, that I'm a student with limited income, and that I had also recently been diagnosed with ADHD, which significantly affected my ability to keep on top of numerous administrative tasks during the move. I was not trying to avoid my responsibilities, I contacted Safestore as soon as I became aware of the issue.

I asked for my circumstances to be reviewed as a goodwill case. Instead, every response simply repeated the company policy. None of the specific circumstances I raised appeared to be considered.

When I attended the store to vacate my unit, I was encouraged to pay the outstanding balance immediately. When I referred to the 14-day payment period that had previously been communicated to me, debt collection was mentioned. Although I later received confirmation that I had 14 days to pay, I ultimately paid the £79.44 because I felt pressured by the repeated references to debt collection while my complaint remained unanswered. All this for an empty unit and an unused service.

I also submitted a formal complaint, but before receiving any response I felt I had no realistic option other than paying the charge.

Good customer service is not only about applying policies; it's also about considering individual circumstances. Unfortunately, throughout this experience I felt that policies consistently took priority over fairness, communication and customer care.

I hope Safestore reviews how cases like this are handled in the future so that customers requesting a genuine goodwill review receive meaningful consideration rather than repeated references to the terms and conditions. But I definitely won't use their service ever again.

I was with them for over a year as i was homless! They told me prices are fixed so i was happy ! 6 months after they increased the prices by a crazie amount! I ended up getting a place and leaving they just kept charging and charging! Sending invoice after invoice even after i left! I would say to choose else where! The safestore in barking ripple road is terrible. Please avoid

Peter and Cherie and other staff at the Barking and Dagenham store offer great customer sevice. Very friendly, thoughtful and excellent attention to detail.

We had an amazing experience with Safestore Barking. Shout out to Jazzmine....we were in between properties and she made the whole process easy and seamless. Very professional and polite. We received exceptional customer service from her.

I have been using their services since 2019 October that's when I was told that I will be getting 50% off on their services and will only need to pay £25 a month, which to me was okay because in the end my stuff was safe in there, upon completing the form I was told that I need to buy insurance for £12.50 each month to protect my valuables else if something happens to them they wont take any responsibility, anyways I agreed as I do have very expensive stuff sitting in there, unpacked luxury branded stuff like unworn YSL , Gucci , Hermes shoes etc, so I started paying for you and after 6 months I got an email saying they have changed their t&c'S and that discount have been taken off and I am now liable to pay £120 each month, I thought i'd be back soon so i didnt really mind paying that amount, so i kept paying all of it through the money i saved up in my savings account and almost paid them £3000 and I would explicitly mention here I had no job yet i managed to pay everything till today, and last evening I received an email from Mr Gurjeet ( who sounded as if he is gonna rip me apart and my stuff too if i won't make the payment by today) he also stated that there will be court proceedings against me and debt recovery will take care of the rest), little known to his knowledge I work for a UK law firm and I know about the laws more than himself, so I will now report him for using company official email address to threaten me and asking for money, I will elaborate a bit more over here that why was he ranting for the money last evening, he basically is a cheap salesperson, who could not even write his last name and failed to hit target, so he was trying his level best to scare me and get his money before he loses his job, and what i still fail to understand is that Informed them beginning of the month that this accrued payment of 3 months will be paid on the last day of the month which was yesterday, so he put those numbers in his target and I made the payment just now, the guy might not even be there, this is the 10th time they changed store Manager so you can understand how disposable there Managers are, but Martin Leech was a good lad and he did help me out on various occasions, but please do not use their services, they are worse, and they will only contact u once they want your money, else keep calling, keep trying their numbers even and they will never get back to you, and when its about money they will call you 10 times on your international number then it doesnt matter whether you are in Bahamas, Saudi Arabia or Pakistan, these guys will call you, coz they are minting money of people hard earned salaries, and the company owner I must say is worst of all, who is letting his team do whatever they want, Mr Gurjeet did not leave his personal email address or a number for me to call him back, he probably would be fired by now for not hitting his target and next month will be 11th Store Manager contacting me to fill his appetite of my money. PLEASE AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS, I WILL REPORT THIS MATTER TO POLICE , WILL TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THEM AND ALL RELVANT AUTHORITIES WILL BE MADE AWARE !!! now its time for them to put me back to what I was paying and apologise for their behaviour.

Junior, Liam and Alan were all such great help in signing me up with storage over the phone and within 10 minutes of walking through the door! Very great team who were nice and explained things clearly :)

I applied for storage online. The process was fast and NO hassle. As soon i received confirmation I went to the location in ripple road barking where I met Allan the manager of the store. He is a gentleman, a great person very hospitable. He made the process simple and easy.

Im simplying going with Safe storage only because of Danny - he was simply brilliant.

Amazing service , fast friendly and efficient just what I needed today …. Alan Michelle are a credit to the company !

I rented storage for a number of months with my now ex. I sent my 14 days notice, which was acknowledged and then handed the unit over to my ex and witnessed the transfere before parting ways. Roll on 4 months later, threatening letter saying i have ignored correspondence, threatening to sell the stuff and take me to court (not my stuff). This forced me to have to make contact with ex (awkward). She provided proof unit was paid. Several calls later yes unit has been paid, and they dont know what occured. But its all good now. No. Not good at all will not use this company again. Lots of other competitors out there, i would give this unprofessional operation a miss. My dealings were Barking safestore and their head office.
