Insurance premiums increased dramatically over last 3 years but due to dogs age and 'pre-existing' medical conditions felt tied to them and at current renewal I was forced to reduce my cover from £9000 lifetime to £4000 lifetime cover, not knowing that this also reduces what they call dental cover dramatically - My dog has had to have surgery to remove an abnormal growth (likely sinister) and removal of one tooth and they have classed the whole claim as dental treatment and will only cover £500 maximum under dental!! It is not just dental it was Medical too!! My only option now if further treatment is required is to have my dog put down... I couldn't afford their premiums and now cant afford vet bills! I have passed my complaint to the Ombudsman for extortionate premium increases for 'trapped' customers and policy wording and mis-selling. absolutely heartbroken and stressed now.

My renewal quote was £280 so I cancelled yet to return as a new customer it is £174! I didn’t realise initially as if I had, I wouldn’t have returned as it leaves a sour taste
The response from Purely Pets doesn’t answer the reason for over £100 increase for an existing customer. I haven’t claimed- he’s a young healthy dog-a waiting period of 14 days hardly warrants £109 increase

It costs me more to insure my dog than it does for my car its now nearly 3 times as much as it was when i fist got insurance with your company my first monthly installment was just over £9per month now it it just under £27 per month yet i have never claimed i wont be renewing it next year insurance companies are just ripping people off where is the loyality from conpanies to customers

Our dog has always been insured with Purely Pets but as he has grown older the cost of his insurance has almost become prohibitively high. Not sure that we can afford this if it increases any more.

Website was a little clunky. I wanted to insure 3 dogs, but after the first one, I had no option to add the other 2. Page would not load when trying to register for the portal.
Good prices and terms though.

I am very pleased that I recently took out a new insurance policy for my dog with Purely Pets. It has all the same protection and benefits as my previous policy with another insurer, but twice the level of cover for less than I was paying 2 years ago.

Prices keep going up by a lot of money do t seem to get anything for being a loyal customer these days

My premium went up greatly, far outstripping general inflation and insurance inflation - and despite making no claims in the previous year and having a dog that is not senior. Efforts to see what flexibility there may be were to no avail, as significant reductions in cover level only equated to minor reductions in the premium. Clearly not a pricing model that rewards loyalty

I’ve given Purely Pets two stars because, in my experience, they don’t seem to support dogs when they need it most—later in life. Our premium has nearly doubled from one year to the next, and it continues to increase dramatically every year after that.

Our dog is now 14 years old, and because of her age and existing conditions, no other insurer will accept her. That leaves us with no real choice but to stay. What’s most frustrating is that we haven’t made any claims in recent years, yet the price keeps going up to what feels like an unreasonable level.

It’s hard not to feel that the company takes advantage of customers in this situation—knowing we have no alternatives.

Easily changed directs debit date thanks made it easy

My pet insurance had doubled since last year, and feel trapped as he has a pre existing condition that would make it difficult to change.

Your price didn’t go up to much and when I used you every thing went through.

I'm only giving a 4 because the policy is new to me as a first timer. The setting up on line, was easy. The emails and docs I received were prompt. Easy to understand cover. The real review would be if I need to utilise the insurance, but I hope I won't have to find out. It's good to have the peace of mind.
I chose it from reviews and a recommendation from a friend.
The price of the cover is excellent, especially compared to others, and trust me I did about 20 quotes, looking at excess, cover and if there was any vet contribution. The policy I chose is life 8k a year, £220 excess and no initial vet fee contribution until my dog reaches 6yrs old, which in my opinion is perfectly reasonable.

No quibble claims settlement. Fair price on renewal of policy.
