Avoid like the plague
It only has 1 star as there is no option for none.
If your lucky to buy a car with no issues from here, great!
But from reading previous reviews that does not seem to be the case for many!
Currently on issue 2 within the first month of owning the car.
It takes weeks for them to book it in, meanwhile you have a car with an engine light on, bare in mind this would not pass an MOT (but to them it's acceptable to drive, until it turns red).
After sales are disgraceful, they palm you off, make up things, and nothing gets done, their rude, unhelpful and should not be working in a customer care based role.
Avoid like the plague!
Recently bought a car
Recently bought a car from Pinetree. Big thanks to Paul M for the great service.
Let down by one member of staff
I’m actually quite sorry to have to leave this review because Paul, the sales guy I dealt with seemed quite genuine and was really helpful but unfortunately, since then Jo in aftercare has really let this place down. I waited a long time to review because I wanted to give them a chance to repair things and make up for my issues but that hasn’t happened sadly. I bought 2 cars from them in the space of 2 weeks. One of them had an engine light come on and shook when driven over 60mph before we even got the car home and the other one had the abs light come on within 2 weeks (maybe 6/7 30 min journeys to work) so things go wrong with cars, it’s their nature but this did make me question if all the pre sale checks were actually done because the independent mechanic who checked it over for me said the wheels were really buckled and this should have been picked up and fixed prior to us taking the car home. However we know with cars things happen and were very inconvenienced but at this stage, not too annoyed with the company and just put it down as bad luck. luckily we had paid for an extra warranty on both of the cars so we called after sales. This is where the problem is. They aren’t apologetic or helpful at all! We had to take the car back to them and all we asked was for them to keep us updated as we had a holiday coming up and would be paying for a hire car in the meantime and need to plan accordingly if we won’t have a car. Absolutely no communication back from them. Over a week later I had to send several emails and make a lot of unanswered calls before finally copying Paul in for them to actually bother responding. Only to tell me it won’t be ready for my holiday the next week and actually not for at least another 2 weeks! More cost for hire cars and flights to Scotland rather than driving up as we planned and again no apology anywhere or concern that we have been paying for a car and all the additional costs for a month and not been able to drive it once. Then when I emailed (again no update from them at all. It was me chasing) to check that we were still ok to pick it up in 2 weeks as they said, they have now extended it again due to waiting on a part! The month long wait is bad enough but I can accept this as something that possibly can’t be helped and would have left still feeling good about the company had they seemed to care or value us as customers and be sorry about the issue, but jo was so unapologetic and worded her emails like we were inconveniencing her! It just really adds insult to injury. After all that, when we collected the car a month later the fault had not been fixed and Despite my warranty and an independent mechanic confirming the fault jo just lied about it being fixed and then when I told her it was exactly the same she refused to fix the issue and told me to contact trading standards! so whilst Paul made me want to do business with him again when my son and niece pass their tests and need cars, unfortunately the rest of the company doesn’t live up to his standards so I can’t recommend them. The 2 stars are for treatment of customers pre sale but I can’t give any for customer care once you have paid for the vehicles.
UPDATE ——-
Complained to management about the terrible service from Jo and they responded promptly and have acted exactly as expected and hoped to resolve the issue with the car. I’m increasing to 3 because of this and because all my bad experience is actually as a result of just 1 member of staff. Everyone else there has been quite helpful. I’ll update again once I’ve taken the car in to be fixed and hopefully it will be resolved quickly and efficiently and they will go the extra mile to check it over thoroughly and make sure there are no further issues with the vehicle and I’ll be able to increase the final score to 4 stars which is what I originally wanted to give them (even after the issues with the cars) before I had to deal with Jo! I’ll let you all know.
UPDATE: credit where it is due - once I escalated my complaint the issues with the car were fixed quickly and I received excellent customer service from all involved so I’m increasing to 4 stars.
Poor customer service and communication…takes the shine off
If you want customer service or clear information you may want to buy your car from somewhere else…
We saw a car we wanted at the Tonpandy site on the 24th February 2025 so called and spoke to Ray, asked when the car would be ready and told it would be the Friday as we wanted it to be mot’d so we had a full year on it and it would highlight any advisories, paid a deposited and said we’d be over in the early evening to look at the car.
We arrived, looked at the car, agreed it was what we wanted and we also take a warranty and could they tax it as well. We were told this wouldn’t be a problem and would all be done when we collected the car.
We then mentioned that we wouldn’t be able to collect on the Friday so would collect on Monday (2nd March 2026), this is when we got “ah ideally it needs to be Friday as it’s the end of the month”. We assume that this was due to his sales target etc so said we would pay on the Friday but collect over the weekend/monday. I have to point out that we were not given a receipt for the deposit, or an invoice showing what we would need to pay or any other salient information.
We call on the Friday to pay and it comes to more than we expected as we hadn’t taken into account t the indemnity that Pine Tree charge, I have bought many a car and have never had to pay an indemnity before but it is advertised on their website. At this point it was agreed we would collect late afternoon on Friday so as to give them time to mot it, touch up the paintwork we had pointed out and pdi it. Monday comes, we call and are told it won’t be ready as the workshop weren’t happy with the brakes and pads so wanted to change them. This we felt was a positive as they wanted the car to be just right but a large negative as it had been mot’d on the 24th and they had said it would be ready for the Friday, we know we said over the weekend or Monday but…
We go to collect the car on Tuesday and Ray asked for a lot of paperwork to be signed, didn’t indicate or explain what any of it was and then changes the ownership online so the last thing to do was to tax it…..this is where it becomes a shambles as they cannot tax it as the car was a disability car so shows it has disability tax. Ray told us that it could be taxed at a Post Office with the new keep slip and so we had to drive the car home untaxed (we were not shown around the car, simply given the keys, a bow was put on it and he said he was taking a photo and to stand next to it, it wasn’t a question of was that ok etc.
We went straight to a post office and were told that we couldn’t tax the car as had to wait for the change of ownership to happen which would be processed overnight.
Today comes, and we discover that firstly the parcel shelf is missing from the car so we called and mentioned this and the car tax as whilst the change of ownership has happened the car could still not be taxed without the tax class being changed (we were initially sold that Ray was off and he would call us on Friday) this was no acceptable so pushed the point as the car needed taxing otherwise what was the point of buying it as it wouldn’t be able to be driven or covered by the insurance.
Thankfully the Post Offixe came to the rescue as you have to fill out a V62 form and whilst filling this out we discovered that there was no MOT certificate given with all the paperwork so we were not aware of any advisories regarding the MOT (luckily we are savvy enough to have looked online a few days ago).
It turns out the parcel shelf was just left out but we could go back and collect it and if we’d have had to pay for a V62 we would have been reimbursed.
The crux of it is, is bad customer service, no communication, incorrect information and paperwork given and timelines not kept too.
Whilst it turned out ok, the amount of issues caused due to a lack of understanding regarding tax classes, wasted time going to the post office, on the phone and having to return to pick up the parcel shelf takes the shine off of picking up a new car.

Poor aftersales team and faulty car
I purchased a vehicle from Pinetree in July 2025. At no point was I informed of a 30-day policy regarding the reporting or inspection of vehicle faults.
In October 2025, I discovered a fuel leak and contacted Pinetree for advice. I was initially advised to use a local RAC-approved garage; however, there was a three-month waiting list at the time. I was then advised to use a VAT-registered garage instead. Upon inspection, the garage identified that the fuel return pipes were cracked. Despite this, Pinetree refused to cover the repair costs and offered only £35 towards the diagnostic fee as a goodwill gesture to which I declined.
Additionally, within a couple of weeks of purchasing the vehicle, I noticed that I needed to regularly top up the coolant. This became an ongoing issue. However, due to the difficulty and lack of support I experienced when reporting the fuel leak, I did not feel confident returning to Pinetree regarding the coolant problem. Instead, I arranged for my local garage to investigate the issue. This required a significant strip-down of the components to diagnose the fault. Fortunately, I had taken out an extended RAC warranty; otherwise, I would have faced substantial repair costs.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, a vehicle must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. Furthermore, within the first six months of purchase, any fault is legally presumed to have been present at the time of sale unless the retailer can prove otherwise. As both the fuel system fault and coolant issue arose within this six-month period, responsibility rests with the selling garage to address these matters appropriately.
In correspondence from the aftersales team, it was stated that under consumer legislation the retailer must exercise reasonable care and diligence. Based on my experience, I do not believe this standard has been met. The attempt to attribute the fuel leak to my mileage is unreasonable, as it is highly unlikely that I would have caused both a fuel leak and a coolant system fault within such a short period of ownership.
Although the vehicle was reportedly MOT tested, I question whether a thorough inspection was carried out, as these significant issues were not identified. Since owning the vehicle it has had a total of £1,500 worth of repairs within 6 months!
Given the above, I am extremely disappointed with the handling of this matter. I would not use this garage again nor recommend it to others, and I feel compelled to share my negative experience.

I’m not usually one for reviews but thought this one deserves it big shout out to Mo! I Recently bought my first ever car from pinetree, from someone who knows absolutely nothing about cars, the process was so easy the salesman Mo went above and beyond he’s even made a fan out of my little boy for life! Will definitely use again in the future when I’m ready to upgrade my car again 🚗🚗

Mechanics that cant tell if tracking is out.
I should have checked the reviews before buying from Pinetree Car Superstore, Tonypandy. Over 11% of their Trustpilot reviews are 1-star, and unfortunately my experience matched them.
I bought a Land Rover Discovery that was sold with severely incorrect tracking, loud heater blowers, and repeated limp-mode faults. I raised these issues immediately. I was repeatedly told the car had been inspected and repaired, yet the tracking was still clearly out, the faults remained, and the car continued to go into limp mode. I have proof that repairs were either not carried out or not checked properly.
The vehicle was returned multiple times, wasted hours, caused stress, and resulted in extra costs for vehicle hire and time off work. Only after several failed attempts was a refund issued.
Cars can go wrong — but selling a car with obvious issues and repeatedly claiming repairs were done when they clearly weren’t is unacceptable. The aftersales service and mechanical standards are very poor.
Any replies from the company will be ignored. I do not value responses from a business that delivers this level of service.
Will highly recommend to avoid to people and after speaking to people in the area its very easy to see where this company is going.
Learnt from my mistake and check the reviews before buying.
Edit: if this was the case how come i returned the car for the tracking? it still wasnt sorted until the visit after even though it was apparently done? Its a lot i havnt mentioned. Should of mentioned the refund? I did 🤣Yeah i got a refund which looks really good, a car garage having to give a refund, absolute joke of a company with even bigger jokers behind the computers. Good luck, im not arguing, ring me if your that offended with honest reviews

*extended warranty NOT required. Under consumers rights act - you are protected for 6 months, if the product sold is not fit for purposes or does not match the description as sold***
The vehicle sold to us is unroadworthy and unsafe!! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!
Where to start? We wrote a review in March after buying the car in December, and within 48 hours, the car was back at the dealership. We had a positive sales experience with Mo (we have no issues here and still appreciate his hospitality).
Ever since then, many other faults have come to our attention and realization during our ownership (our own fault for not getting an independent inspector to check the car thoroughly) despite our research, checking mileage, ownership history, and all the common checks. We believed that the vehicle, which was having issues with the DPF filter, had been examined.
During this time, it has also come to our attention that they provide a one-month warranty. This means that any faults or costs incurred within that period are the responsibility of Pinetree Car Sales, especially since the issue arose within 48 hours of collecting the vehicle. From discussions with RAC inspectors, we understand that they claimed for the work on January 21st, over a month after the work was completed. We were also asked by RAC to provide proof of this.
Since the work was carried out, we have been experiencing ongoing issues very similar to the previous ones, such as loss of performance with the vehicle, among others — not including all the other faults discovered during our ownership.
The problem was that we were in constant contact with Pinetree trying to fix the issue; however, they refused to work with us and instead directed us to other independent garages rather than resolve these problems.
My own fault, I hold my hands up that we did not contact our finance company sooner (MotoNovo). However, we finally made contact with them after 6 months and 1 week. We were told that due to this delay, we breached our Consumer Rights Act 2015, and now we would have to pay for an independent registered body member to provide supporting evidence that this ongoing issue existed before the car was sold to us—despite it being in the garage within 24/48 hours of ownership.
Not only that, but emails sent have taken over 8 weeks without any formal response from Pinetree Car Sales. Meanwhile, we still have a vehicle parked outside the house with more lights on the dashboard than Blackpool Tower, draining funds on finance, car tax, and insurance.
We have approached them multiple times requesting their feedback or input as a response. We also contacted them about the vehicle not matching the description in which they sold it to us, and about its unreliability and poor condition. The vehicle was expected to last more than 48 hours without issues. Although they provided a fix, problems still persisted. We have incurred additional costs trying to diagnose recurring issues that continue to be linked to the DPF.
(DO NOT BUY ANY DIESEL VEHICLES AFTER 2017 - they tend to have catastrophic issues in the new 2.2-liter engines). Also, PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HERE. We have learned a very costly lesson. If you have any problems and are on finance, contact them first for any issue, big or small.
Additionally, note that once Pinetree has sold you a car, they will not provide follow-up customer service, which is extremely poor and often shambolic, particularly in their responses.
There is a reason that they are an average 3.4/5. Steer clear - go to a garage with a minimum of a 12-month warranty as a basic, without having to pay extra for "extended warranty". And pay someone to come out and do an independent inspection of the vehicle, as these 140-point AA/RAC checks appear to be signed and passed without proper inspection (car had a nail in the tyre - still passed the MOT, and AA/RAC inspection did not even pick up on this.
We would prefer them to simply take the vehicle back and acknowledge their wrongdoings. We do not want any further involvement with the vehicle or them.
UPDATE from the reply you have completed no denial of the above claims I have made - I am still awaiting a reply from yourself for breaching the consumers right act of not replying to an email within 8 weeks time frame...so please make sure you follow that up. And also - i have not been "treated fairly" which again under consumers rights act you have potentially breached duty of care!
You were asked by ourselves to review and inspect the repair you carried out which was not of a satisfactory level which again and again, falls under the repair or replace part 2 pf consumers rights act we feel you failed to comply with - within our rights under the consumers rights act. We feel you have breached this. We are currently awaiting an independeny inspection as per direction from MotoNovo ***. If you would like to actually correct this and take the vehicle back as per rights - please feel free to contact me

Problems with the steering on my car
Problems with the steering on my car, we took it back to after sales at least 5 times, they had balancing, tracking done had it on the ramp, they couldn't find any faults , they told me nothing wrong with it and it was safe to drive, because there were no warning lights on. I still wasn't happy so I took it to an independent trustworthy garage and they agreed with me that there was a fault and it was steering to the right at low speeds, I then took it back to pinetree they booked it into a Renault dealer and they found that the wrong size tyres were on my car, pinetree changed the tyres but then my car was vibrating at speeds of 60 mph, I went back and Kirsty from after sales told me pinetree had spent enough money on my car and they weren't spending anymore, so I told her I don't want the car and was going to report them to trading standards, they then agreed to fix this problem, and since my car has been running how it should have been at the start, after sales are so rude, unhelpful and give out wrong advice, my car was not safe to drive like they said at the beginning because if I had had a bump my insurance have been void for having the wrong size tyres. I would not recommend this garage and would never buy another car. The sales team are fab but once they get your money they don't want to know. It was very stressful. After sales sort yourselves and and have a word with the sales team on how to have customer care.
Would love to hear what they've got to say..
In my opinion Indemnity payment should not be on the buyer
Interested in a car so made contact by email as wished to understand why a indemnity was required and did it need to be paid
Since then no reply and in my opinion buyers dont need an indemnity if the selling organisation has done all their checks on the vehicle they are selling, and if they the seller are concerned , the seller should pay for an indemnity!!
Plenty of car dealers out there that dont make charges why would you want to waste your monies on something the seller should cover
