9th power cut in five months today…
9th power cut in five months today destroyed my Xmas trade and they can't even be bothered to answer the phone to explain why about time the government gave these cowboys the boot and got a proper company to do the job
Waiting for a meter.....keep cancelling.
The company I work for has moved premises. All the equipment is here, but we can't use any of it because Northern Power keep putting back the final stage of the phased power installation.
Not only that, but since nothing is working,there's no overtime. So I'm now down 4weeks worth of earnings, on the threshold of Christmas.
Cheers Northern power, you've stuffed us big time.
Workmen cut through the main line so…
Workmen cut through the main line so northern powergrid put us on a generator (8 houses) this was in September, still on the generator, which has broke at least 8 times since. All for a minimum 4 hours. Sometimes all day. Its freezing, cant get food. Had to restock my freezer, costing a fortune, and all they keep saying is sorry. Even when it is working, the lights flicker and tv goes on and off. Its hell!! They arent bothered though, because under 10 houses are affected, therefore we aren't important to them. Put a complaint in and had to chase it, not happy with an apology now, its really gone past it ☹️
Disconnection
My electric supply is looped from next door
The Landlord wants electric meter moved so been told they want to dig my garden up to give us our own supply I refused and was told work will be done and we will be disconnected .
I’ve explained I have been off work past 4 months with depression and anxiety.
My sons pregnant partner lives with us and I am still been told we will be disconnected.
No warning.
If you're going to turn off the power in my area you should send residents an email or a text warning that there will be no power for a while but instead you just turn it off as if it ok to do so and not warn anyone.

We have street lights out for 14 days .they say they can not do the repair for 30 days these lights are out we’re old people bungalows are so cannot go out .one old lady as already fell down.people in the eights.live in these bungalows.
Top Service
Scaffold blew down due to high winds this morning. Phoned Northern Power immediately.
Thirty minutes later a crew turned up. Fixed it very quickly and couldn't have been nicer or more helpful . Really good service in bad wind conditions too. Very impressed.
This morning I received yet another…
This morning, I received yet another email saying I'm a PRIORTY CUSTOMER.
After another week, with yet another power cut in Staithes, I'm amazed they continue sending this advise.
I moved to Staithes nearly 3 years ago, when I took retirement.
Within the first week of living here I was stood outside on a very cold March morning @ 5am, looking at my external meterbox to confirm there was no power to my house. Twenty minutes later, I had a call back to confirm there was a power outage in my area.
Then over several months, until this summer, blackouts could be and were experienced when it rained heavily in the area.
Thankfully during 2022 we had lower than average rainfall.
That was then supposedly resolved with the start of a project within the village, by Northern Power Grid to replace cabling.
But since then intermittent blackouts stlll continue !!
Everytime they happen, we all receive texts saying thankyou for your patience.
Next year, I'm about to enter my 8th decade living in this country and I can say even after living through Heath's Power Cuts, I've never lived anywhere in the UK with such an irregular source of electricity.
It has got so bad, I've decided next year to move.
I've got my powerbanks and candles at the ready just to make it through the winter.
And please Northern Power Grid PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop sending texts and emails about your POWER OUTAGES, it just highlights that during the course of my lifetime, we have turned into a 3rd World Economy.
Total waste of time
I have a meter backboard that's rotted away and Northern power grid have to replace it. I called to be told in 3 hours someone would attend. 9 days and 7 phone calls later nothing they just don't bother to help.

Had a power cut just before midnight Thursday 26th October
Rang 106 to find out what was happening as the my neighbours had power
Did the checks as they requested which verified we had a fault
Engineer arrived within an hour
Took his boots off before coming in said there was an external fault but altered the 3phase so we had power
Fault traced to the substation
Brilliant service from competent and capable staff

Lost power in the house, reported fault, and they rang us back pretty quick. lovely lady talked us through what to do. She was so helpful.
I lost all electric this morning
I lost all electric this morning, reported via the website and they rang straight away, I spoke to a lovely helpful gentleman, within 1 hour 30 mins a lovely young man came and found the issue straight away and got me connected, absolutely fantastic service from everyone involved, can’t thank them enough!

They deserve no stars, 3 powercuts within last 2 weeks 11 powercuts over the last 3 years, customer service is a joke, no compensation just cheek from a manager over the telephone, I dont know how they gate away with it.....but we have no choice do we ?
Shrouding of wires
I had a roof inspection at my request and was informed I needed a new roof. With electrical wires leading to our roof I had to contact powergrid as these wires would need shrouding before any work could be carried out, I thought this was going to be a long and lengthy complex task however to my surprise it turned out to be quick and easy, I got straight through on the phone to a very pleasant lady called Julie who talked me through everything slowly and concisely, she orchestrated a company to come and do the job on the 18th September I only phoned on 11th September so if everything goes accordingly I will be well impressed

Seven power cuts in four months alone. Old overhead network, in pour condition that keeps failing. (needs putting underground) but this would effect NPG's profits. The later being NPG's priority.
Friendly and professional …
We lost power in our house Monday evening around 7.30, all neighbours had power so we assumed it was a problem within our property. After checking everything we first called Eon who didn't answer Monday night or even send an electrician to look until Tuesday afternoon. It was identified the problem was actually an underground cable. Northern powergrid came out asap, dug up the garden, diagnosed the issue and fixed it all through the night. They were lovely, friendly and professional and even boiled me and my dad a kettle. Big thank you to Dave and his team.
NPG to the Rescue
After three weeks of trying to persuade Utility Warehouse to help us reinstate the 3 phase supply to our unit, I called Northern Powergrid.
What a transformation!
The NPG customer support guy was sympathetic, efficient and knowledgable. He arranged for an engineer to visit site within three hours of my call
The engineer called to let me know he was 20 minutes away - arrived on time and fixed the fault within 30 minutes. I can't thank them enough

had my garden dug up and path right outside my front door made an absalout mess mud all over lost half my gravel due to the digging and tore up all my weed membrane patched up the tarmac path now looks a right state said clancey would sort this out but never did now i have weeds growing all over due to them wrecked my garden and ripped my weed membrane up still waiting for repairs
Excellent at doing nothing
Northern Powergrid is a privatised utility company who excel at telling their customers what they can't do for them (read their website). I and 93 other customers have experienced 7 power cuts in 8 days without a resolution. They just replace the substation fuse and do no investigation of the fault. This situation is ongoing and may never be resolved. As usual the Regulator Ofgem are not interested in taking the side of the customer. A 3rd world company with a 3rd world Regulator for a 3rd world Britain.
We had no power due to a power cut
We had no power due to a power cut, when it got resolved it still wasn’t on in our house. We rang the lovely staff on the phone lines, they were excellent and very helpful they got an engineer right away. All is fixed now, had a lovely experience.
