Really helpful Garage with a lot of integrity. Keith (Aldershot branch) was brilliant. Helped guide me on repairs needed in order to get it through MOT at no extra cost. Highly recommended.

Two visits to get my car through MOT first time came away with an uneasy feeling second time I know I was intentionally misled behaved in a shady manner,,there isn’t a way I could take my car there again

I’ve used MOTEST Reading for MOTs for quite a few years on different vehicles with no issues…until today. My car was failed because of a missing wheel nut on one wheel…fair enough. They didn’t have a replacement so I went away and had one fitted. When I returned they said they couldn’t do me a retest until a few days later. All they had to do was check the torque of the new nut and issue a new certificate…5 minutes work tops!
Very disappointed and totally unlike them.
What’s changed?

Bracknell MOTEST are great I've used them for the last few years for my MOT and I've just had my service done too. Can't rate them highly enough. Very straightforward people who explain everything and do a good job for a good price.

Re HILLINGDON - oh deary me

I recently placed a review (dated 14th October) and the response from HILLINGDON motest was so appalling that I feel compelled to respond.

Firstly, the wheel nut issue has since been resolved. We have had the Fiesta since new (1.4 petrol) and it comes supplied with alloy wheels which have plastic wheels covers. As the car is now 11 years old the wheel covers have become somewhat welded to the wheel nuts and this was the issue. So the situation was HILLINGDON "mechanics" didn't identify this and their air compressor gun failed to remove the wheel nut aka the plastic cover.

Secondly, it's an absolute downright lie to say we were offered a date for the water pump work to take place in November.

HILLINGDON motest said they couldn't do it now or in the future.

There was no breakdown in communication. The lady in reception said NO in front of my wife and I and we would both be prepared to visit HILLINGDON motest and speak to the lady concerned because she is lying.

As a result of HILLINGDON motest response to my review I'm adamant that I will not be using motest again anf I will encourage my friends, neighbours and relatives to do the same.

I'm so disappointed. Please just tell the truth.

I wanted to give a little praise to the technicians at Motest who have been looking after me and my Mini Countrymen for years. Nothing is too much trouble, they keep me informed and provide a speedy turn around where possible. They get in Mini parts and have serviced and now Mot my vehicles. I recently had a battery failure managed to start with jump leads and drove the car and to BMW in Slyfield who couldn’t book me in for 3 weeks. Loyal Motest told me to come that day. That’s the kind of company they are.

I’ve been using Motest for the last 30 years or so and they have always had a sensible approach to testing. However on may last 3 visits I have either had advisories or a fail on what you may call dubious decisions. It is my view that Motest are now being more strict in order to make work for themselves. Thankfully I have the skills to make my own repairs, some of which are unnecessary in my opinion. I have now made the decision to go elsewhere for my MOTs and will no longer use Motest.

Whilst not my car but a neighbour's, I feel I have to comment... MOTEST Eastleigh advised her that her car need two new tyres to get through an MOT as one of her tyres was cut down to the cables/ply. Whilst this is correct, to pass the MOT the car would only need one tyre. It should of been advised that it is good practise to replace both tyres on the same axle due to indifferent tyre tread depth. This can cause steering issues etc. But to advise a customer that both needed replacing to get through an MOT was completely incorrect information...

Unfortunately, was also informed the fact she didn't know where her locking wheel nut key wasn't an issue, regretfully forgot to inform the customer that this would cause extra costs involving labour to remove the lockers and a cost to replace the lockers with standard nuts... All this should be explained before agreeing to do the MOT.

I do understand that MOT is carried out to specific timings this would be good customer service to inform this in a pre call to advise the customer this is needed prior to arrival...

As an employee in the service and MOT trade I find my neighbour/friends treatment very poor. Especially when their radio advert basically disrespects any other MOT stations which is a government standard test.

It's your choice at the end of the day but at least book knowing the issues you may face.

Not professional enough to have diagnosed a major issue developed barely 2weeks post MOT...feels like the test lead to the problem...it's also expensive

I called on the day, super worried about a scraping noise my Seat Alhambra started to make. They saw me in 2 hours, checked for the problem, got my car up - and took out a stone that was causing the issue.
Refused to take any payment and sent me on my merry way. So kind, and so caring. Amazing experience and I am going back for the next MOT and service, absolutely. THANK YOU!

Following a recommendation I took my car to MOTEST for a major service. This was my second visit - the first one was just fine. However, for the second they didn't have even basic parts (oil filter) in stock so overran their time by almost an hour. After paying and leaving I then discovered that they hadn't completed all the work so I went back in and found the staff disinterested and dismissive. I emailed the manager but received no reply so then emailed head office and although they acknowledged that, after 14 days they have still not replied to my complaint. I was happy with the engine service (as far as I can be for a non-expert) but with customer service at a poor level how can I trust them? So my recommendation is avoid.

Good Garage great for mots always friendly and helpful

Booked at 10.30am for service and MOT. Had my 7 month old with me went back at 3pm after not hearing from them hanging around in farnham with a baby is not fun but needed to be done. Told me they had only MOT'd and hadn't done the service! didn't realize I was waiting!? what else are you supposed to do when they have your car. I then got told they could service it but would be another hour and a half. Had to try and feed and keep my baby warm for another 1.5 hours still not called walked back in to find it was done. The guy who served me put the paperwork down and walked out!!! thanks, great service, left an older guy to run through it with me. Absolutely useless go somewhere else!

Fantastic service as ever at Motest Bognor Regis. Excellent customer service and great knowledge. Can't recommend highly enough.

Test centre cancelled my MOT test because one of their mechanics has 'had an accident'. This left me without an MOT when it failed a week later and no time to get it repaired. Do they cancel MOTs when one of their mechanics phones in sick? Shoddy!

I can't speak for everyone, but I know i was ripped off. I had a phone call explaining work that needed doing. Some of this work, I was told by another garage, didn't need doing on this occasion. But again I am not a mechanic. But the telling aspect for me was that when I got the call I said start then work. I got a call back 1.5 hours later saying it had been completed. But it was only when I got home that I realised the labour was 2.8 hours. Which means I was ripped off, simple as. My advice, look for better garages and reviews! I wish I had!
