Scam mechanics Bexhill Motest

Hi I have contacted you last on 30/11/23 and also on 22/11/23 as per copied email that follows. This is the third time that I have tried to contact you, I had no reply, I am going to look into how to contact the Directors personally, I feel sad they have not even had the decency to say to respond to the email.

"Good afternoon,

I emailed you on 22/11/2023 but I have not received a reply so just wanted to ensure you have received this or shall I be sending this to another head office or department?

We have been using your company for about 5 years. We had 5 different cars, up to recent events we have always find you reliable, fair and reasonable priced.

Recently, we took our dog walking car as usual to your MOT station in Bexhill for his MOT, it had only done 1500 miles since the last MOT at Bexhill branch. We were given a preinvoice for the work that needed doing to pass, it said front and rear box for exhaust pipe because there was a hole in the pipe in the middle, we question this but we're told again we will need to buy the front and back box because of the damage from removing just the back box.
We knew something was wrong so we drove to the nearest Exhaust Centre were they laughed and changed the back box in 20 minutes without going anywhere near the front box.

Also, on the job list was a rear wheel bearing we knew this needed changing and agreed for it to be done however work was stopped because apparently we need a new knuckle, a new knuckle was £350 and they refused to use a used one or one that wasn't from their supplier, we took the car wheel bearing situation to another independent garage where the wheel bearing was changed, no knuckle was needed but admittedly it did say it was a bit of a job undoing it, that was two jobs that we were told that needed to be done that did not need to be done. We then said, well the work has been done, can we now have the MOT? Where we were then told we would have to pay for a new MOT because we had exceeded the days but we only exceeded the days because two of the jobs on the failure list had to be done at two other garages.

We were going to contact an agency concerned: transport, police, etc. But due to your excellent service during the last 5 years we though it is only fair to write to you first. There is clearly something strange happening at your Bexhill garage, please could you look into their working practices? Please could we have a refund for the MOT that we had to have done somewhere else? Please could you give us some reassurance that we can continue using your company. Kind regards

Motest in Reading booked on Thursday for friday afternoon, arrived on time, did the mot in time, and no stupid comments on the MOT such as 'undertrays fitted' what car doesn't have undertrays. very profesional and good service been using on and off for 25 years.

MOTEST Farnham were excellent in sorting out a difficult to source malfunction with the wing mirrors on my Toyota Prius. Keith was particularly helpful at all stages and kept me fully informed on progress.

Motest BEXHILL are always extremely helpful, welcoming, professional and go out of their way to help. My car wouldn't start,.and they came out, jump started it so I coukd drive it down to them, and replaced the battery all within an hour. Fantastic place. I would recommend them to anybody. Overzealous tester at Farnham

i would rate you 0 if i could.

Have used Motest for around 30 years. Sadly my local branch in Mytchet closed, and always had an exceptional and honest experience with them.
I chose to stay with Motest and opted for Farnham.
My car is well looked after, well maintained by my independent specialist who has looked after all my cars for the past 24 years. The car was taken to them In full working and driving order.

I was greeted by miserable and rude Keith on reception. Seriously, if you don’t like working in customer services, find a job you like. We don’t need to be greeted by miserable and rude staff.
Onto the tester. What another sad and looking miserable man – with the balding head. He took my keys and said he will do the test. I had a bad feeling about him and 40 minutes later I was proved right.
He came back and failed the car on a handbrake adjustment. But added 5 overzealous advisories. Im all for a safe vehicle but his reasons were pathetic and simply spiteful.

When I took the car away, it started to misfire, the dash illuminated like a Christmas tree went into limp mode. It was horrid to drive. The car hasn’t misfired once since I bought her from new. All of a sudden, these cowboys have her, and she’s misfired and went I pulled over when it was safe to do so, and lifted the hood. One of the cables was loose which I re-plugged in. I restarted the car, and all was fine. Why were they under the hood tampering with stuff. All they need to is look and not touch.

I took the car to my independent garage to resolve the alleged issues. They were shocked when I bought the car to them. The car is well looked after and maintained and covers less than 2000 miles per year.
The handbrake needed a minor adjustment but the independent said it wasn’t enough to cause a failure. They adjusted it in minutes and resolved the advisories also too. I called Keith for a retest. The earliest he could offer me was a whole week away. Now bear in mind they have failed the car, and couldn’t be used. Total inconvenience caused by the overzealous tester. I took the car back and thankfully had a different tester to carry out the re-test who wizzed around and passed it. The miserable tester was there on-looking. I was going to complain to the DVSA, but thought these lot would ignore the advice anyway.

MOTEST – I never use your services again. You have lost a lifelong customer. Disgusting service.

Mot test tonbridge. A very very poor experience had new shock fitted. Alightment was way out never put casing back broke clips unquilfied people working on car paid in full never again will you be used. Car unsafe for road disgusting service should be shut down. Do not use these cowboys reported

These guys can't fix a 2019 rangerover claiming they are specialists. They claim to have access to JLR systems but don't even have a wiring diagram the don't fix cars they keep them there for a month or more then charge loads and give the cars back still broken and claim they then can't fix it. I wasn't aloud my car back until i paid got in it after paying and it was still broken went back to reception before leaving and was told that there is nothing more they can do. it was also returned covered in dust inside its a £40,000.00 car treated terrible do not use this garage.

Took my motorhome in for service and MOT, cost £475, and failed MOT because they couldn't get a warning light off on the dashboard, didn't even get a diagnostic report, This was at B&NES MOT and service centre Locksbrook road, Bath

I went in for an MOT and the staff were lovely. The process was all very quick but not rushed. I definitely would use this service again and recommend them to anyone.

1st time using these, I had never heard of them, only found these out through work colleagues after Halfords Tonbridge messed me around. Will always be using motest from now on, nice friendly and helpful staff.
These really did save the day and got me back on the road in no time.

Only gave 1 star as it wouldn’t let me give no stars. Took the car in for diagnostic works after having it diagnosed elsewhere. They had the car for 4 days. Was advised that it was fixed after some soldering required on a fan unit. Drove the car out of the garage and lo and behold the engine light came on say get vehicle engine repaired. All they do is lye through their teeth. Car is now going somewhere else to be sorted out. I wouldn’t trust these cowboys with a toy car.

Have been using this garage for years, recent expieriences have not been good. Car was in for MOT work, returned with oily foot prints on the floor mat, a flat battery and an incorrect MOT. I had to wait for the floor mat to be cleaned and the car to be jump started. Discovered the full MOT mistake when I got home (after driving it around for half an hour to charge the battery) so called and had to book the car in again for another MOT test. I asked for a refund for the MOT was told they couldn't give refunds without authorisation and that they'd call me by the end of the day. I've never heard back from them.

Been using Motest Bexhill since it was JustMOTs. Won't be going back. Failed MOT, quoted a price for repairs, agreed and booked it in. Price went up by £200 when I went back for the car! No written quote just verbal. Of course I must have miss heard him. Not happy, won't be going back.
EDIT AFTER YOUR REPLY - Clearly I did not hear your staff member say the actual price. But I don't normally have trouble hearing. There is clearly an issue here, which you do not want to take any responsibility for. Like I suggested on the day, maybe you should provide your quotes in writing. A print out for example. You would have heard that comment on your audio recording right?? On that, you might want to warn your customers that anything they say is being recorded. I think you'll find its illegal otherwise. But then we both know that there is no such thing in place don't we. As for the price of the part, how am I supposed to know what it costs? Although I have had a quick look and found it available cheaper than what you say. I have also checked your invoice and the price you say is inclusive of VAT and not really over £100 at all. At the end of the day, had I known the price was £267 I would have sorted it myself. But in view of this and the fact that you have not shown much in the way of responsibility or honesty, I maintain that I will be using another garage in the future.

I used their online service to request a quote for a Cam belt and water pump replacement. That was on 7th July 2023 at 14.40. I have still not had a response.

Have been using Motest for years. They have never failed my, (well maintained & regularly serviced), cars. They do not, for example stiff you for “headlights out of alignment”, they just do a good job for a fair price. This time they fixed my faulty rear window washer for free. Really good company while I waited as well. Would recommend most highly.
