Pet insurance quote via Comparethemarket was simply the best value going. Super level of cover at an excellent price plus free access to FirstVet. Was miles better value than any other.

Dreadful insurance

As others have said the response time was ridiculous - almost 2 months to even look at a claim in my case. Without explanation they then rejected the claim after all that, and numerous enquiries as to what was causing the delay. I only heard through my vet that it had been rejected, and can only assume they have overruled the medical views of the two vets involved for some reason that they don't want to tell me. Complete waste of time and money.

Pet insurance is an absolute scam!

A few years ago now I had to have my lab put to sleep. Had been paying insurance for over 10 years. Never made a claim. Total bill was about £300.
Insurance quibbled about the bill and offered me, get this. 20p. 20 pence. After some lengthy emails they actually paid in the end.

A few weeks ago my dog had such a bad ear infection that it required an op to fix. Guess what? Insurance wasn't willing to pay a penny. I was only paying for 'Basic' cover, however, after doing some research, ALL these policies seem to have a clause that if your pet has a problem which they have to be seen by a vet for, the policy will not cover that condition or any arising from that condition in future. Therefore absolving them of any future payouts. They are perfectly happy to continue taking your premiums though!

To reiterate. This is true not only for the 'basic' cover, but ALL their policies. Don't bother. Just save every month instead. In the last 4 years I'd have saved £1460 towards this £2250 bill.

Instead I get an email THE DAY BEFORE her operation refusing to pay a penny. Giving us less than 24hrs to find over 2k. Thanks for nothing MORE THAN Pet insurance.

I requested my policy paperwork through…

I requested my policy paperwork through the post and was told 3-5 days. Its been over a week and no sign of it.

Awful renewal service

I already had a policy but at renewal the price was substantially higher than I could get on line. Your customer service when I pointed this out was awful and you didn’t care that you quote much higher prices for existing customers than new business. I purchased the same policy in line for over £250 cheaper … don’t know why I stayed with you but the on line quote was then competitive. Sort it out more than or you won’t retain any business

All is OK until you make a claim

All is OK until you make a claim. Claim was acknowledged and then silence. Chased twice and on the day of the response to the 2nd chaser they stated they were waiting for into from my vet. Asked the vet and they confirmed the request was only received on that same day - some 5/6 weeks after making the claim. Eventually the claim was paid but the experience made me decide to not renew with them.

Pet insurance

It was very easy to follow the online prompts to get my pet insurance quote. It was a reasonable quote with good cover so I bought it. Hopefully I won't need to use it, but if, in the future I do need to make a claim, I hope it will be as straightforward as buying the policy in the first place.

My vet filed a claim for my cats…

My vet filed a claim for my cats treatment last October and even after receiving a letter in December from more than agreeing to cover the cost of the treatment no payment has yet been sent to my vet. So I have left more than because I won't let them continue to take money out of my account when they won't fulfil their end of the deal.

Cancelled policy before renewal, was still charged, no communication, no accountability.

I cancelled my pet insurance policy with More Than two days before it was due to renew after being informed the premium was increasing by nearly £100. Cancellation was well within the required timeframe.
Despite this, payment was still taken from my account after the policy had been cancelled.
I then:
* Contacted them again via email/contact form to reiterate the cancellation
* Submitted a formal complaint
* Received no acknowledgement, no response, and no explanation
At the time of writing, they are holding money for a policy that should never have renewed and have failed at every basic level of customer communication.
More Than is now owned by Admiral, and if this is the standard of customer care under that ownership, I would strongly advise people to think twice. Insurance is built on trust and responsiveness — without customer service, you are effectively paying money into a void.
I am still owed a refund and an explanation as to why I’ve had to waste time chasing them. I will never use More Than or Admiral again.
