How can a clinic that claims they help everyone deny someone in such need of help? Ridiculous. Seeing my family member suffer through horrendous back, shoulder, and neck pain for years with no treatment able to help is painful enough. But to then be denied treatment at a place that could actually help is a new level of low. Thanks Mayo Clinic for adding a giant slap in the face.

I hurt my back in mid-May. I looked back at my online and messages and it shows that I contacted them on May 22nd. I have been waiting and dealing with them for over a month, phone calls, messages on the portal, etc. I finally got them to get me an appointment with the pain clinic but it’s not scheduled until July 7th. I don’t understand why it has to take so long to get seen. Sometimes I think they just don’t work very hard to accommodate patients because there is very little competition for our insurance dollars up here in the north woods. We had lived in Milwaukee for 33 years before retiring and, because there were lots of different health systems to choose from, they worked harder to accommodate the patients.

I called the Mayo Nurse help line regarding a medical issue. I spoke with Mckenna who was less than helpful. I hung up and called back, spoke to Alison an amazing human being who was very helpful. When scheduling an appointment I was transferred to the Nurse's line, Mckenna answered, I was very uncomfortable with her due to our last encounter. I said oh no I don't care to speak to you, she said hang up and call back. I then replied and you need a new profession. About a month later I received a letter telling ME I was rude and disrespectful. REALLY

It is discussing that Mayo Clinic only cares about someone's help for 3 months, then you get dropped from a waiting list. After this, you can no longer get an appointment. How does this possibly help a patient get care. As a patient, you are telling me I DON'T MATTER.

Love the people at Mayo. They are the best in the business and treat us, a patient, like we are the only patient they have. They don't rush us out, instead the ask insightful questions that draw out the details they need to give the best care.

Got lied to by D. Valencia and then butchered on by him. He got mad when I complained about him sending me back to work while still on Oxycodone. Went to Rochester to see if they could fix what he did to me and they wanted nothing to do with it! Every single day I wish I could take back what Mayo/Valencia did to me. Don't Be A Victim of These people. Mayo =GREED

Mayo is mostly among the best of the best. Mostly. They have some great physicians except for the ones who aren't. So, they hired a boob, I should be able to make a complaint and get a second opinion but that is where a break down occurs. I made a complaint and amended the doctor's notes but apparently the Patient Experience Office sent "my issues" to the department head without the amendment and don't intend on sending the amendment along. Oh, and whatever they sent to the head of the department they won't share with me because what supposedly came out of my mouth is for internal use only, they will only say that the Department Head concluded that I shouldn't allowed to see a different Neurologist in the future. Is there a second level complaint process? Nope, I am just supposed to go away, even though all my labs and procedures and all my fantastic doctors who wanted me to see a neuro are at Mayo. Patient Experience is a block to complaints not an assistance to patience.

The appointment took forever to make. I was on the phone over 10 minutes just for them to tell me I don't have an appointment and I'm on a fast track list.

Statins are poison...a stubborn Mayo Doctor put my father on Statins, over 20 some years ago with no history of heart disease or diabetes. My Dad had problems from very start , muscle cramping and weakness. Mayo Clinic Doctor refused to take him off...just put him on different statins. Now on atrovastatin 20mg.

My Dad has statin induced permanent/ and or adverse condition could be directly linked (Documented Studies) to statins:

1. Hearing loss
2. Dementia
3. Can't speak full sentences/Difficulty in speaking
4. All over muscle atrophy
5. Difficult breathing/on oxygen last hospital stay first time ever
6. Can barely walk
7. Dying Liver
8. Non functioning Kidney
9. Frequent urinary infections that land him in the hospital
10. Gastrointestinal bleeding that land him in the hospital
11. Now Heart Problems
12. Shakes, constant fatigue

Mayo Clinic Dr. refuses to take him off of atrovastain 20 mg, even after family request.
Mayo Clinic Dr said no.
Statins are killing him and robbed him of 15 good years.

They took a perfectly healthy non-overweight man with just "pharmaceutical company determined" high cholesterol levels, poisoned him, turned him into a frail old man and robbed him of 15 years of his life.

My Dad's parents lived without statins Father 91 and Mother (over weight) 87 with diabetes and both could run circles around my frail Dad.

Statins are killing him and Physicians need to wake the hell up!.

Same goes for all Cholesterol lowering drugs....poisons.

Mayo Clinic's former CEO was also simultaneously on the Merck Pharmaceutical Board of Directors. Both former Mayo Clinic CEOs support the World Economic Forum as Health Partner Governors.

The mitochondrial specialist couldn't be bothered to do genetic testing, and put a lot if inaccurate information in my medical record. She ended up missing a diagnosis. Mayo leadership did nothing to correct the issue.

I need help diagnosing if my wife has a personality disorder. Mayo Clinic came up as the best rated source of such patient care. I filled out their mental health form and submitted it. They set up a phone consultation on March 16 at 9AM and reminded me by text 3 times. They did not call me and when I called them they told me they discontinued that patient care service in June of 2022!!! I see their reviews are very mediocre on Consumer Affairs. These are terribly incompetent, useless psychiatric services. Do not waste your time with Mayo Clinic. I guarantee you disappointment and in my case more damage to my already fractured marriage!

It was below average experience. They always recommend to get vaccinated with the covid mRNA technology. It is gene therapy, not a true vaccination. Watch "Died Suddenly" on the Stew Peter's network on Rumble. I was once yelled at by a doctor because "I was sick too much." Isn't that your job, to treat sick people. I've had asthma for most of my life and now I have Fibromyalgia. Go to Helpcare, they at least listen to you. Today I had an issue going on and they got me in right away. They care. They take the time to listen, not just say, 'it's all in your head'. I do not recommend Mayo Clinic for that reason.

Have tried to get a 2nd opinion on a heart procedure, 3 or 4 times. All I get it the run around and your not worth our time bit. Just to get an appointment one must be a appointment. In other words their ad program on TV AKA on the streets ad BS. Bet if I had lots of $$ things would be different. They always say "We do not have a waitlist" with a little to bad; so sad attitude thrown.

Mayo Clinic denied my relative an appointment in 2021 for her chronic, ongoing all day - stomach pain deemed as a clinical urgency.

My relative was also denied a second time the following year in 2022 and ironically, she was denied after being verbally approved. When she was approved, I was told by a Mayo representative that the next steps...was to receive her medical records as a means to determine the complexity of care and number of visits that would be extended on her behalf. No one communicated there were conditions. We were given lip service, set-up and totally mislead.

January 26, 2023 my mother was provided a verbal approval (per Mayo rep Gabe after checking with its business office) to have a visit (Rochester, MN location) for her GI problem that was beyond the capacity of five local GI doctors in Kansas. During that week a Mayo representative requested her medical records. Before the medical records were issued to Mayo and three days after being approved Mayo sent a letter dated Jan. 29 that disapproved/cancelled the agreement. Again, the aforementioned is not an error...the cancellation happened three days before receiving the medical records and three days after being approved.
This appalling situation created an undue hardship mentally and physically for my mother. The unethical, sloppy and unprofessional actions of Mayo Clinic reps from department to department do not inspire hope. Mayo Clinic is an untrustworthy, insensitive and unreliable organization that is poorly ran (right hand does not know what the left is doing), employees demonstrate poor communication, its way of doing business is murky and its grievance department - Office of Patient Experience only serves to help and protect its employees and not its clients. Allie with Office of Patient experience verbally took my complaint over the phone, without directing me to go online to complete a form with a detailed account and a few days later she submitted a letter stating accusations of age discrimination was unfounded. My relative never received the letter and I only found out about the decision after calling thereafter - I was told by a different person in that department. All supporting evidence of truthful accusations can be verified via their 2023 recorded phone messages with departments; GI, Business office, Billing and Patient Experience.
Mayo Clinic sends insulting and contradictory denial letters that communicates verbiage that is one size fits all. Example extractions from letter: "We must review all appointment requests and offer appointments based on clinical urgency, complexity of care, and appointment availability” [NOT INITIALLY COMMUNICATED]. “ “Please know we do not make this decision lightly. If your health situation changes, please consider contacting us.”[CONTACTED TWO CONSECUTIVE YEARS] “We would appreciate another opportunity to evaluate whether our services can support those provided by your current provider." [Comically DISINGENUIOUS]

The MODEL way of accepting a patient is remarkably demonstrated by ***** Clinic that actually provides one an appointment date and time and requests medical records two weeks or sooner before the visit. This outstanding business does not BREACH a verbal appointment agreement nor send denial letters three days after making an appointment. This is the ethical, professional and proper way to conduct business.

Based upon our experience I would not recommend Mayo Clinic and its related entities to anyone as it is an untrustworthy organization. People who suffer similar incidents of this type should qualify for a class action lawsuit and Mayo should revisit and modify its Mission and Excellence statement as it does not ring true.

I had a successful cancer operation at the Mayo Clinic and was very happy with the outcome. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and made me feel safe and secure.

The surgeon and his team were very professional and I have no doubt they saved my life and certainly improved my quality of life.

I would highly recommend them. Thank you to everyone there.

Highly and strongly encourage you to look elsewhere for your healthcare services!

Billing department is horribly dysfunctional, incompetent and generally atrocious. Overpaid them and was reassured twice that it was 100% accurate so they subsequently refunded my overpayment amount, yet more than two years later they have billed me again for services rendered with absolutely no explanation whatsoever.

Not acceptable for an organization that is supposed to be world-class. ***Be guided accordingly!***

My spouse has been struggling from a progressive illness for 2 yrs. We really need a team of medical professionals to try to figure out what is going on, like what Mayo Clinic claims to do. 3 times we were denied. Not once were we given a reason and on 2 of the denials, we had to call them to find out because they couldn't be bothered to call us. We were told they needed records they already had. We were told 12 pages of documentation was just too much work to read through and they preferred things to be condensed to 2, and they were caught straight up lying about having a record of a doctor-to-doctor meeting. They also claimed to have sent us a denial letter on Dec 14th from their spine center, in response to a referral to the rheumatology department that had not been sent until the 15th. All I can really conclude from all of this is that Mayo doesn't actually want tough cases, they want easy ones so they can inflate their numbers of successes. That, or they simply don't want to treat trans people. Either way, they have no business working with vulnerable populations.

Almost killed me. Didn't test for C Diff (turns out I had it) and basically mocked me during the apt. One of the worst, most traumatizing doc visits ever. And the delayed diagnosis has led to further complications.

I've been dealing with ongoing constant headaches and wanted to come to a solution so my neurologist at USF referred me to the Mayo Clinic up in Jacksonville, FL. Going there was difficult for me seeing how it's a 3ish hour car ride but if it gave me the answers I was looking for, I'd be happy so I could be treated.

I first took the drive from Spring Hill to Jacksonville (over 3 hour drive) and went to Dr. Rozen and he thought I had hydrocephalus, which was worrying. I was then contacted by his office (a woman named Andrea) that I needed to go for a scan that could only be done at the Mayo Clinic. They told me that I needed to come immediately because they thought I could die. We were told that it was covered by insurance and to be there the next morning.

With traffic, it ended up being a round trip of 7 hours for a normal 15 minute scan that I could have done in my hometown of Spring Hill. After the exam, I was referred to Dr. Fermo, who is amazing. She diagnosed me with the proper diagnosis of pseudotumor celebri and ways to work on a remedy to the situation. After seeing her, I see a massive charge for the scan I did at Mayo Clinic that day.

I called Mayo Clinic several times asking for a resolution because we were misinformed by them that: 1) I might die if I don't get the scan and 2) Insurance covered this procedure. I don't work, I can't take care of myself, and rely on family to help me due to my condition... so seeing this charge was absurd. Getting there wasn't cheap either, so not only do I get billed in full for that scan, I needed to pay for expenses to get there and back for THEIR error. I repeatedly contacted them and tried to tell them my story several times only to be ignored and referred to the credit agency that my bill was sent to.

The worst part of it all: I can't see Dr. Fermo to treat me because of this billing discrepency. I've been told that unless I pay my nearly $3000 outstanding balance, I can't be an active patient there. I did nothing wrong and I'm being screwed over by a company that rather spend countless dollars on advertising telling people how great they are instead of dealing with their errors. I also loved how the Mayo Clinic was in network and was covered by insurance but was barely covered at all for visits as well (deductible was met).

To the public: if you're looking for a clinic to go to, DO NOT GO HERE.

I'm hoping with my public review, I can finally get some resolution with this because I've been getting the cold shoulder from the Mayo Clinic for a couple years now and I'm still desperate to see Dr. Fermo about my condition. Thanks.

Shame on you Mayo Clinic for allowing the Urology department to taint your good name. My father had back surgery a little over a month ago and during the procedure, the vascular team accidently cut his ureter. The Urology team, who performed the repair, has had almost no contact with my father during his recovery. He has experienced pain and complications stemming from the ureter accident, including fluid build up around his kidney. It is now 6 weeks post surgery and the urology clinic at Mayo has completely dropped the ball. Take some responsibility and follow up with your patient! Before surgery, my father was so impressed with the whole Mayo organization and everyone he encountered during the pre-op process. This experience has put a black mark on Mayo Clinic! I had read that the follow up care was horrible...I now see if for myself.
