Successful Section 75 Claim
I'm posting an update on my situation.
My Laura Ashley footstool was supposed to be delivered on 25th March. I received an email to tell me that my delivery was cancelled. No other communication was received despite me sending several emails. I decided to claim against my credit card company (NewDay) using section 75 of the consumer credit act.
I phoned NewDay and they emailed me a claim form. I completed the form and sent it back on Tuesday morning this week. I also sent an email from Laura Ashley as supporting evidence. Within a few hours I received an email from NewDay agreeing to my claim and a full refund was put back in my account ! So, I submitted my claim and received a refund all in one day.
Fantastic service from NewDay.
I have since received an email from Laura Ashley informing me that I will not be receiving my furniture due to them being unable to agree terms with their delivery company and suppliers. They advised me to contact the administrator to claim using section 75. I believe other customers have also received that same email.
I would urge everyone to contact their credit card company and claim against section 75. Or if you paid by debit card use the Charge Back scheme.
I'm just relieved and happy that I've got my money back. I'm now going to order a footstool from a local company that uses Laura Ashley fabric and charges a fraction of the price !
Section 75 or Charge Back is your legal right. Do it !
Laura Ashley WILL lie to you...
We have still not received our sofa from Laura Ashley that was due to be delivered in the middle of May 2020.
Despite previous assurances that the sofa would be delivered on or around the promised date nothing has happened, Laura Ashley have not sent us any communication to explain what is happening. We are of course aware that they are in liquidation but were promised although this and the Covid virus could delay things there was no need to worry.
We are now told that until the manufacturer has been paid then our order will not be progressed, this is even though we have paid for the sofa when we placed the order some months ago. So from this we feel that at best we have been mislead by Laura Ashley and at worst just lied to! They have taken our money and most probably used it to pay other debts!
We did finally get through to the customer services last week and were told that we should either go to PwC who are the administrators, pursue a Section 75 refund through our credit card or apply to be a unsecured creditor. The latter would mean we would be at the very bottom of the pile to get a refund, PwC took a week to reply to our enquiry and even then just sent a generic email suggesting that we go back to Laura Ashley customer services – so we were just going round in circles.
My suggestion if you purchased using a credit card would be to start a Section 75 refund application asap, it is probably the quickest and only way you will get a refund. You are very unlikely to get your order/refund fulfilled by Laura Ashley direct, they will just frustrate you and delay for as long as they can. Their strong recommendation that we should first apply to be an unsecured creditor was totally wrong.
Laura Ashley took our money in the full knowledge that we would probably never get the sofa we ordered, they have mislead and lied to us ever since. That’s shocking and borderline illegal! They were a much loved part of the British high street and born from imagination, entrepreneurship and vision. They leave with a reputation in tatters, a life of hard work wasted and the memory of their founder blemished.
Shame on you for what you have done!!!
DO NOT BUY FROM LAURA ASHLEY!!!!
DO NOT BUY FROM LAURA ASHLEY!!!!! I placed an order in late February just before the administrators were called in. I still have over £2,000 worth of orders outstanding and its now 3rd June. I have been told that they no longer have these items available and I need to contact the administrators to apply for a refund. We all know what that means... No refund!
What I find really appalling is that they are still taking orders online so still robbing people of their money (at a time when people are really struggling). there is no customer service line to call but funnily enough there is still an order line so that they can rob more people of money when they call up to place an order that will never be honoured. After no reply from email I contacted Laura Ashley through the order line. The girl on the line was unsympathetic, rude and had no idea what the process was to enable me to make a claim. The least they could do is offer whatever stock they have left over to customers who have already lost thousands from orders not honoured. But no, they would rather rob a few more people before they finally stop trading. Just shocking! I can see I'm not the only one to have lost thousands.
We ordered 2 sofas in January
We ordered 2 sofas in January due for delivery on 28th March, date given by the shop.
Every time I’ve emailed customer service (they’ve never once contacted me) I’ve been told our sofas are in the warehouse waiting for delivery which can’t be made as it needs 2 people. Today I managed to get through on the head office number to be told by the lady, ‘I’ll be honest with you, they’re not going to be delivered at all’. There’s no issue with deliveries and covid, its because the manufacturer won’t release anything as they haven’t been paid. Luckily we only paid a deposit and the rest was on finance. Just wish we had known this 3 months ago.
I am only giving LA 1 star because they…
I am only giving LA 1 star because they don't do a zero.I am absolutely livid.finally a message us received telling me I won't get my suite which is fully paid for£1500And i I might not get my money back I now have to fill out forms and try I emphasize to try and get my money back .I would actually call that theft.B**t***s.I think we all have to stand together and get our money back.
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!
We have spent over £3000!!!! on two sofas and lighting back in January. This was due for delivery 2 months ago and whilst I fully appreciate Covid19, this is b*llocks excuse now as pretty much every other company I’ve used have delivered with 2 drivers now as lockdown has been lifting. Next is the issue of administrators as they’ve gone into liquidation... well we have been assured and promised time and time again that they are still coming etc but in which case why the hold up?! The lack of communication Is APPALLING!!!! You take weeks to respond to my chaser emails and give no real answers. You have actually communicated NOTHING, so had I have not sent a single email or called then we would have zero idea why our sofas aren’t here after 2 months.
Laura Ashley it’s no wonder you’ve gone under if you’re customer service is so damn abysmal! SORT YOURSELVES OUT & COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please do not order from Laura Ashley!
I previously posted about the sofas and dining table we ordered at the beginning of January costing £3,000 and wanted to provide an update. Payment was taken in full. They were due to be delivered on 13 March. This was then changed to 24 March. On 23 March they called to say they had no delivery slots available and they rescheduled for 2 April. We were then told due to COVID 19 that they couldn’t deliver them. At the time I was heavily pregnant. I now have a newborn baby and have been without sofas and a dining table for almost 3 months :(, having sold our old ones before the original delivery date. As we paid by credit card we have made a section 75 claim. We learnt today after a month that Laura Ashley’s bank are disputing our claim. I am at the end of my tether. It seems this is now going to be drawn out to hold on to our money for as long as possible. We randomly received a call from Laura Ashley this week saying that they wanted to arrange delivery and if we wanted the furniture we would have to pay them again due to the charge back claim because the funds are frozen. At this stage we haven’t received any money back because their bank is disputing our claim. There is absolutely no way I am paying this company more money (I couldn’t even if I wanted to because they haven’t yet paid us back). It’s disgusting how they are treating people. Please do not order from them. I can see from these other reviews that people are being told by Laura Ashley that they won’t receive their furniture and to make a section 75 claim, which convinces me even more that they have no intention of delivering our furniture and they are trying to take more money from us.
Do not order from this company
In January I ordered a leather armchair. My money, £560, was taken immediately. I was given two delivery dates and both were cancelled at short notice due to staff shortages. I accept that I will not be receiving my chair and like many have lost my money.
Failed to honour order
Ordered dresser with deliver date of 24 April. Rang immediately went into administration customer service had no new information but told furniture should be in warehouse 10 April for delivery 24 April. Customer Service Phone lines Turned off. Written to them twice using on line query. Response both times did not answer questions asked. Submitted claim via credit card company since do not expect furniture to be delivered.
Great shame since were a great company with good products.
Furniture not going to materilise
Finally, after chasing Laura Ashley regarding the whereabouts of my two sofas, mirror and table ordered in mid January, I have received a reply via messenger basically stating that I will NOT be getting my furniture and to go through credit card company to try to get money back. What a shambles. Everyone who is still waiting, be aware that you will NOT be getting your furniture
Rude, dishonest & arrogant
One star simply because it is not possible to give 0. Laura Ashley owe us £2,115 for 3 sofas and 1 coffee table. Ordered in January, due for delivery 5 April. I have received no updates communications whatsoever, other than one email response to my repeated emails to them. Was told in April the items had been manufactured, but dispatch delayed due to COVID. They guaranteed it was nothing to do finances. Have had nothing further (despite me using the contact us form on their website) until I called the order line today. I was told lie after lie as to whereabouts of my furniture. Finally they conceded that they were indeed manufactured but after much pressing they finally said that although they had taken full payment in January and the items were ready for dispatch on 13 March, they could not guarantee we would ever get them, or our money back due to administration. They tried at first to say they had not been dispatched on 13 March due to lockdown, but I pointed out that did not happen until 23 March! Even then, they will not advise whether we should wait or whether we need to start a claim with the administrators. Called PWC, who are refusing to take calls in relation to Laura Ashley as well! Apparently they have no phone numbers for the people dealing with it. However, their mobile phone numbers are on the PWC website! Have left messages with one of the gentlemen concerned - no call back as yet! Just some honesty as to whether we wait for our furniture or start a claim and re-order from an honest, decent retailer who deserves our business. My advice, do NOT order anything. I do not understand how they can legally still be taking orders when they refuse to guarantee to honour them, but still take the money!
6 months in, paid for but no delivery
Ordered 2 bedside tables in November 2019 and paid in full in December and told expected date of delivery would be 14 February 2020 then received e mail saying delivery would be delayed till 27 March then 3 April. Made several phone calls and was assured delivery would be made on 23 April but because of Covid 19 it would have to be 2 men delivery. What!!! Each bedside cabinet could be delivered by 1 and my husband, who is a pensioner, could easily manage to lift and carry a bedside cabinet. Also ordered a sofa and guess what - delivery delayed also. My bedside cabinets are paid for now 6 months and after many phone calls and e mails, still awaiting same. All this was ordered, paid for and delivery date named before Covid 19.
DO NOT ORDER
DO NOT ORDER OFF THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!
Outrageous behaviour still waiting for delivery of a sofa and snuggle chair, should have been here 17 March. Emailed constantly and rang asking for updates, they said it was there waiting to be delivered. Payed the balance on their credit card now it’s with the manufacturing stage and unless they get a buyer then I don’t get a sofa, they are STILL taking orders how can this happen.?????????
I am so stressed by this company…
I am so stressed by this company ..ordered in February and given a date of 17th april for a snuggler purchasedcto match a sofa I had bought the month before ready to move into our new home. Despite calls and e mails I am no nearer to getting it as it is " still with the nanufacturer" and there is the obvious delivery issues ( why arent they coming up with safe solutions as other companies are) Idmf I dont get it then I will have one sofa that I dont want as it cant be matched.I lived Laura Ashley..no longer I'm afraid .
Rubbish company - steal your money! Do not under any circumstances buy…
Do not under any circumstances buy anything from this company. I bought a rug on line, which unfortunately turned out to not be quite the right shade.
I returned the rug by post as instructed in the returns section. The company then went into administration after my rug was returned but they refused to refund me or return the rug.
I paid with PayPal and they were not much help either, I therefore have just given a Laura Ashley £160 and have no goods to show for the money. It is just daylight robbery and shouldn’t be allowed to happen, going to try and make a claim through an ombudsman if there is one and suggest anybody else that has lost out to do the same.
We should all get together and make a claim, power in numbers!
Don’t order from Laura Ashley l…
Don’t order from Laura Ashley l purchased a bedspread on sale £150 when l opened it the blue had all faded l contacted them to return( No return )
I then offered to pay postage again No returns they asked to send a photograph which l did after weeks l contacted them again they said they didn’t receive my email l then went to respond after numerous emails l sent more photographs they then said the photographs are not clear l am trying all l can to return this or get a replacement to no avail it is so stressful
I have a faulty bedspread which can’t be replaced or returned
Ordered 2 chairs which were due in the…
Ordered 2 chairs which were due in the first week of May. PricewaterhouseCoopers are obviously not honoring Laura Ashley orders so I would advise anyone not to order. Only purchase from the shop what you can take away. The Laura Ashley website says that orders that need double handling have been delayed due to Corvid19 which require double handling. I am 73 and will be able to move my chairs about to hoover, so a young man with a truck with an electrically operated lifting tailgate should be able to unload my chairs. PricewaterhouseCoopers could not care for the customer. However the good news is, if your company is failing during lockdown, use PricewaterhouseCoopers as they are guaranteed to loose every last evidence of trust between you and any customers you ever had, and will take every last penny you have to fold your company.
Really concerned now about the made to…
Really concerned now about the made to order furniture I paid for in February as still have had no notification from LA re delivery (except the note on the web site saying they are not delivering anything that needs 2 man delivery due to Covid19). The phone lines to customer service are now dead and the numerous emails I have previously sent have not been answered. How can they be contacted now?
If I'm not going to get my furniture just say so and I'll buy some somewhere else.
They really need to be communicating.
Ordered some bed covers two weeks ago…
Ordered some bed covers two weeks ago was a bit concerned after I have read some of the reviews but I had a message yesterday from. DPD saying that my items are being delivered Tuesday so really happy with my service
Delivered within 3 weeks
I ordered a lightshade knowing full well there was a chance it would not arrive or would at least be heavily delayed, but the lightshade was so perfect for the living room and I could not find a similiar one anywhere else so I took the risk after much deliberation.
I recieved the order confirmation email and there was no further correspondence until 2 and a half weeks later an email from DPD saying my order would be delivered the following day. My order arrived exactly within the specified time and is of beautiful quality - exactly what I wanted.
