Great ……but not always

We’ve been to over 15 landmarks. The experience has been generally very positive but on a couple of occasions the holiday was spoiled by contractors carrying out routine maintenance (grass cutting and trimming) during the stay . When confronted they were quite belligerent resulting in an unpleasant stand off which is the last thing you need during a supposedly relaxing holiday. The other issue is that Landmarks are now very expensive and we find them unaffordable and no longer stay in them. This is a reflection of very high rates for much of the specialist restoration work driven by shortage of craftspeople. I hope they don’t go bust as Vivat Trust did a few years ago. Finally they do not provide any Wi-Fi /internet on the basis that it would spoil the experience . It’s a real shame as it would be quite easy to allow customers to elect not to have it switched on (a tick box on the booking form) when they book

I booked a house with Landmark Trust…

I booked a house with Landmark Trust some months ago and had paid in full. Then five and a half weeks before we were due to go they telephoned me to say that they would have to cancel the booking as they had been doing renovations and the electricity would not be connected. All I received was a constant 'sorry' and that I would get my money back. They were unable to provide an alternative that would work for our group. No compensation was offered and had it been the other way round I would have lost all my money. As they have no accountability their attitude is that they just don’t really care. Do not book with the Landmark Trust, I won't and I will ensure everybody I know is told of my experience.

60th Birthday Celebration with family & friends

My husband and I have stayed in many of a Landmark Trust property and the most recent one was for my 60th birthday, for which he hired the Georgian House in the grounds of Hampton Court Palace for 4 nights. WOW, WOW, WOW, what a magnificent house! just gorgeous! such an entertaining house, loads of space and the most scrumptious of lounges, cosy and very warm! Kitchen was well equipped, lovely note from the housekeeper with a pint of milk in the fridge, nice touch. Beds were incredibly comfortable, just an incredible space to celebrate in! Had such a “Wonderful” time. Free access into the palace, very interesting and the grounds are truly amazing to walk around, the maze was a bit of fun too. Some lovely cafes just across the bridge and we had dinner one evening at an Italian called Casa Mia, an absolute delight! Wonderful stay!! Thank you!

Took ages to get a refund after the…

Took ages to get a refund after the trip to Lundy was cancelled due to bad weather.
Had to pester to get our money back
The ferry company - for the journey to LUNDY - on the other hand ; I called up and they refunded same day.
Just felt that it was up to us to chase too much for a refund from Landmark
Won’t be using them again after this experience.

Never again

Absolute disaster of a holiday, had to abandon the property on the first night due to health and safety issues. Customer service during and after have been dismissive and although a refund was given this by no means covered all the cost of getting to and from the property or cancelled holiday time.This was the most expensive and worst experience I have had with a self catering rental property and I would def not recommend to all.If I could give a minus rating I would have - what a shame, customer service is everything with holiday rentals and I am not a complainer, I only give a negative feedback once I have exhausted all other options and given the service provider every opportunity to correct an issue .

Coop house

Coop house, Netherby, is an exceptional building, we felt privileged to be able to stay here 20/11/23 to 24/11/23
The situation of the building and isolation cannot be bettered.
However, on a more practical level, the kitchen has an obvious house fly infestation, having read earlier reviews this doesn't seem to be a recent problem (this has been reported for at least 13 months)
This meant that all cutlery, plates, pans etc have to be washed immediately prior to eating, obviously these have all been washed after your last meal yet the flies continue to swarm regardless of how many you kill.
The other thing that detracts from the stay is the wooden board like double mattress and lack of headboard.
Don't get me wrong, i like a firm mattress, however i have had comfier nights on the floor.
Overall, an amazing place to stay, entirely let down and ruined by these factors.

Wish LT they could be a little flexible.

Lovely properties but total they are not flexible. Some properties allow dogs, which is a plus, but you can stay in a huge castle that sleeps 8-10 or a small cottage that sleeps 2 people and its still only two dogs regardless of the property size (or dog size for that matter, i.e. whether you have a large breed or a small breed). I wish they could be a bit flexible. We have booked a large place as two families for a special occasion and between us we have 3 very small (well behaved) dogs, so because of the restriction, someone can't bring their dog. A little flexibility depending on the property size and dog size would be good please. I am not asking for wifi, just a small dog!

Stay in a dilapidated cottage

Stayed in a dilapidated cottage. The business’s focus seems to be on renovation of properties rather than providing their customers a great experience. And then days after returning home they tell us we can no stay at a cottage as they’ve reduced the capacity. No apology, no alternative accommodation, just left with no options. We won’t be using Landmark Trust again.

Words ALMOST fail me

We booked a week (Mon-Mon) at The College, Week Saint Mary, Cornwall.
Today is Thursday and we’re on our way home.
The main sitting/dining area has no heating as there were problems with the new central heating system. The rest of the house was lovely and warm, but you can’t spend all your time upstairs.
We then decided to light a fire in the huge open fireplace. For some reason instead of the smoke going up the chimney it filled the room ( the opening in the chimney was open correctly ) This led to us not being able to see or breath properly and our clothes smelling like we’d been sitting next to a campfire.
Carol the housekeeper was nowhere to be found ( throughout our stay ) Such a shame as I’d have pointed out the dead flies and cobwebs she’s missed whilst cleaning, as they were quite obvious. Same as the grease on the knobs for the oven!
We then spoke to one of the managers Jo. She was really nice and helpful and trying to find solutions.
I then spoke to her assistant who must think she’s in the hostility and not hospitality trade.
Not only did Sara talk across me several times, she also said ‘what do you want me to do, magic one up out of fresh air’ when I questioned getting a plumber to look at the heating.
Yesterday, Jo came out and saw the issues first hand. She bought some oil filled radiators with her, and had called a plumber. She was lovely and went above and beyond.
We had to put one of our dogs back in the van whilst they sorted the problem, which was over an hr. Not fair on my dog.
Problem solved until it switched itself off and wouldn’t come back on.
We decided we had no choice but to leave to keep our heath and sanity.
I have emailed their Customer Satisfaction team whilst my husband is driving home.
Let’s wait and see the response
