I recently purchased my gorgeous S60 from from John Clark Edinburgh, and the whole experience from start to end was beyond exceptional. Thomas looked after me and he was genuinely focussed on me and the car and not just chasing a sale. At no time did any of Thomas’s recommendations feel forced… quite the opposite in fact. Thomas came across, more as a friend giving you good advice rather than the usual pushy salesperson type. The entire process from my initial call to collection of the car was seamless and painless. I drove away in a cracking car at a fantastic price couldn't be happier. Thomas’s transparency and commitment to customer satisfaction made it this a truly positive buying experience for me, and I highly recommend anyone looking for hassle-free car purchase to give John Clark Volvo a call.

I had been looking to buy a Volvo crossover for three years and finally bought XC 40. Aaron Scott provided exceptional service. He was very personable and has the interpersonal skills of an expert salesman. He took us through all the options and helped me to come to a decision about which model to buy. The buying process was smooth and Aaron was able to facilitate all the steps. I am thrilled to drive the new XC40 ultimate.

I have owned Volvos since 1984 and my current one is 9 years old. It needed a service and then an MOT by 28 November.

I live in the country and getting to Volvo Edinburgh is not straightforward. I booked the car in on 29 September but the earliest date available with a courtesy car within 4 weeks of the MOT was 23 November. Not great but OK.

The car failed its MOT requiring a Volvo exhaust part - 4 days from Sweden but when when I phoned to book the remaining work I was told "not before December 22" - nearly 4 weeks with the car off the road, nowhere near a bus route and scarily close to Christmas. When I phoned back as a loyal customer to see if I could speak to someone senior and arrange something a bit better I was stonewalled with the line
"all our mechanics are booked". The tone was totally unapologetic - no-one was available to take my call and I doubt if the lady on the phone even bothered to enquire. Certainly the message was "get lost" rather than "let's see if we can do anything".

Dealers charge top dollar and for that should provide a top level of service - in this instance I was dismayed by a total failure to live up to expectations.

The guys 'on the shop floor' were friendly and everything one would expect - the customer service behind them was anything but.

The delays speak to me of a lack of investment in trained mechanics to take care of cars once they have been sold and an attitude problem concerning service.

I will not be going back to John Clark Volvo again for either sales or service and if this means that I will need to look beyond Volvo for my next car then so be it. Dealers are the day-to-day face of car manufacturers and this makes Volvo look very shabby.

Excellent service Taylor Lani was exceptional and even delivered the car himself to me as I was working away. He was able to answer every enquiry that I had (there were a lot).

From the moment I arrive all the staff could not be more helpful. Everything was so easy and no hassle

Purchased a V60 T5 from Volvo Edinburgh and was a hassle free experience. Salesman Taylor Lanni explained everything and had excellent product knowledge and was really good throughout the whole procedure and the final hand over to me.

I was upgrading my previous XC90 and I enjoyed the experience and Stuart McIntosh was extremely helpful and answered all my queries and made the whole process as smooth as possible.

Relaxed atmosphere with friendly knowledgeable staff. Nice coffee and biscuits in customer waiting area! Caelan Taylor Mackenzie just sold me my second Volvo this year. He had a gentle charm and great knowledge, answering my many questions clearly and simply. He followed up by phone and email when he said he would and made every effort to make sure I was comfortable with the sale, without being at all pushy. It was a pleasure to buy from him

Kept car for 4 days that was recovered with a broken Alternator belt. Charged £162 to look under bonnet and wanted £462 to repair. Recovered car to Inverness and all repairs completed for £159. Complained to Volvo and after month received a call from dealer who said £162 was reasonable for lifting bonnet. Still waiting for receipt for £162 despite repeated promises to email it No invoice either. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Visited John Clark,Volvo to collect second new XC40 in the last 4 years on Friday 15 September.In that time they have moved new premises to a Luxury Car Village ???? on the outskirts of Edinburgh.Steven and Thomas who went over the handover were both very professional and friendly all good there.Myself and partner had our 2 grandchildren 4 & 7 with us (schools on holiday).Dont know if its a deliberate company policy or being downright miserable but there was absolutely no facilities (small play area with a few toys to amuse the bairns while the adults were dealing with paperwork etc),not even a wee bottle of juice/water for them.I am sure Volvo will attract quite a few families to view their cars and for them not to provide anything for bairns/older children is just downright mean.200 yards from them is a Mazda dealership and I noticed last year when collecting a CX30 they had a small play area etc.I suspect from having dealings with this Company previous they are just a miserable/mean bunch.As a pensioner and been in a fortunate position of purchasing in the past new cars the wife/partner always received a bouquet of flowers (nice touch),nowadays Zilch-not just here but Mazda also.Hey ho sign of the times I suspect

Nicole was handling my cars service and MOT, great communication throughout, from a phone call the day before right up to the pick up after everything was all complete. Efficient and helpful with any questions I had!

This was my first visit to John Clark Volvo in Edinburgh and will also be my last. Having pre booked my car in for it’s’ first service and asking for a loan car that I could use with my two dogs everything was agreed. However when I phoned them the day before to ask them to add another fault to be checked whilst they had the car I was told that I couldn’t have dogs in the loan car. I explained the previous operator had told me that I could but they wouldn’t budge - no dogs. I could phone the dealer and check with them if I wanted to. This was the first time I knew that the John Clark service booking is done through a call centre dealing with a number of dealers.

I phoned John Clark and was told by the first agent that I could have dogs in the loan car, but then the line went quiet and another voice came on. They didn’t tell me who they were but said no to the dogs. Then when I argued the point about in previous conversations being told dogs were ok I was put on hold and yet another voice came on the line. This time I was again told that company policy was no dogs and that was that. I asked for a manager to call me which they did and after some debate he agreed that dogs should be allowed in the loan cars. At last. I had it confirmed by text just in case.

I dropped the car of at 09:00 and said that I would not need it back until around 5pm as I had their car for the day. I went through what needed to be done and left.

I received a text from the garage around 11-12:00 asking me to return the car before 7pm. I had already said I would by 5 or earlier if my car was ready. Why they text when they knew that I have no idea.

So, 5pm came and I returned to the garage to collect my car to be told it was still on the ramp. I waited until 5:30 and still no car, so I made a fuss and it seems that the car had been ready for some time but nobody from the office had collected the paperwork. Whilst I was waiting I received a text saying that two items were advised to be changed. I wasn’t prepared to wait even longer so I declined these (key battery and wiper blades)

The agent then went through what had been done.

First service done
Twisted rear seat belt not done. Apparently they need 6 hours work on the car to fix this
‘Key not in vehicle’ warning light. They couldn’t get this to show. Admittedly the fault is intermittent but it’s funny how it’s been doing it since I have had the car back.
Flap hanging down from the rear of the driver’s seat, not done.

So, one of the four jobs were done in the 8 hours or more that the car was with them.

I chose this dealer as we had to take our dog to the Royal Dick Hospital in Edinburgh so I thought I would get the service done at the same time, hence the need for dogs in the loan car. I actually live on Orkney, over 300 miles plus a ferry crossing from Edinburgh. The dealer knew that and still they treat us appallingly.

I was told that I would get a follow up phone call within a few days to check that everything was okay but it’s been a week now and I haven’t heard from them.

I strongly urge you to avoid this garage.

Stuart was very helpful and had a very good knowledge of the model B3 XC40 plus I was interested he located an onyx black one with a reasonable build date and got a decent deal as well. The car was ready when we arrived and after the paperwork was complete Stuart set up the car on the Volvo app and then went through the controls focusing on the differences between the new android system and the Sensus in my xc60. Overall great service and a great spacious showroom. Happy with new car and the service from Stuart.

Arrived at the branch to purchase item's from the part's department. Girl on front desk took my name and away she went came back said someone was coming out to see me 20 minutes later still I'm sitting waiting
I then decided to leave.
I was hoping for a better experience due to me wanting to use a local volvo dealer for servicing but after that i will just use Galashiels volvo

I’ve now bought my 3rd Volvo from this dealership and every time the sales team have been brilliant. Knowledgable and thorough on handover. Servicing team are quick to respond and are very helpful.
