Made the mistake of booking to have a service or ‘health check’ at John Clark Edinburgh with the intention to then have an MOT. Also to have the battery assessed as a result of its recall notice due to potential fault that could result in it overheating and causing a fire. MOT was explicitly booked to be after the health check so I could assess what work needed to be done and whether I would use my own garage given reputation for expense of Volvo. MOT carried out first without agreement and then forcing me to have work done at site at maximum expense. Despite not having one of the parts. After expressing my deep frustration and receiving an apology from the manager a courtesy car was made available - having previously been told quite firmly none were available. As I was leaving with the courtesy car i had to ask if the battery was fine to be informed it was not. This information had not been offered and I had to ask otherwise I would have left the site. I was informed they would have to replace the elements that were faulty and could cause a fire when it was on charge in my garage. Obviously deeply unhappy that I had a faulty car that could have caused a house fire they then informed me that it would be 10 days to 2 weeks to fix the battery as they didn’t have the parts and needed a particular tool to do it. They couldn’t advise me when this would be completed by and that the courtesy car would only get me through the weekend after I had explained I needed to be on standby for an urgent admission of my mother-in-law needing to go to hospital. Having to return the car on a Sunday I was not informed that they could not drop me off at the Tram stop back into town - over an hour away and a service they had previously provided. The whole experience which is on-going is absolutely frustrating. The fact I have had a faulty recalled Volvo and it is being held now for up to two weeks without an appropriate alternative being provided is beyond frustrating adding to the amount of time spent waiting given particular circumstances makes me regret ever having a Volvo.

We popped in for help connecting a new phone to our XC40 and were most impressed with the service we received. We had a delightful young man, Aaron, who couldn’t have been more helpful and pleasant. We were most impressed with the service we received from him.

Just purchased a used XC60 from their Volvo site near Edinburgh Airport. Right from the initial contact online through to being handed the keys the team (special mentions for Thomas and Yvette) could not have been any more helpful or genuine.

First time experience of the Motability Scheme. I could
not have picked a better dealership than John Clark Volvo. A very easy and painless visit, with wonderful staff all pleasant and friendly.

Visited John Clark Motor Group (VOLVO) Edinburgh from Newcastle to enquire about purchasing a XC60 (Ultra) with Cloud Interior.
I was so fortunate to be helped by Jennifer Calderwood who was so knowledgeable, professional and amiable that I am seriously considering travelling back to purchase the vehicle from her.
I even called her for more information re Free EV Charging Box and again excellent knowledge. Found it refreshing to speak to a female Automotive Sales person who is more knowledgeable than some of her male counterparts. Thankyou Jennifer Calderwood.

Great customer service from this dealership, unlike any prior experience from any other dealers before! Stuart McIntosh was brillant from start to finish easily contactable and kept me updated on the status of my car, nothing was a bother and made the purchase of my XC60 a complete ease. Laid back calming atmosphere at the dealership courtesy of the lovely Yvette of the front desk who had brilliant service and always made sure you were seen to and had coffees on the go! If your looking for an effortless car buying experience the team at Volvo Edinburgh are the way to go, small niggle in the handover of my car and it was sorted out extremely quickly and solution provided. The strive for customer service here is nothing you will find elsewhere and effortlessly puts other dealers in the area to shame! Dealing with Thomas​​​​ Van Meijeren at JC Volvo was ideal, very professional with a relaxed approach leading to simple and straightforward process, Thomas also knows his products exceptionally well ie the XC60 and XC90.
If only other Salesman conducted themselves in a similar manner to Thomas. - Customer service 10/10

Aaron was excellent in providing all the advice and information that I asked for and took time to share a video of the product that was very helpful, very quickly offering great advice and customer focussed.

Taylor made my first experience of choosing a motability car easy and stress free. I enjoyed the fortnightly videos and were kept up to speed with the cars delivery date. Nothing was too much trouble and I felt confident that if I emailed him a question then he’d know, or find out the answer. When I picked the car up Taylor explained all of the settings etc very clearly and thoroughly. Excellent customer service, thank you so much!!

ABSOLUTLEY HORRIFIC FROM START TO FINISH
Please stay away from this highly unprofessional bunch of crooks and liars. They will of course call you a liar for anything they do wrong so please video and document everything you ever have done at this garage oh and the not so lovely Marie on reception will LAUGH in your face when things do go wrong and you call them out! They reset our digital service schedule interval when in for a warranty recall and this resulted in our extended warranty which we paid thousands of pounds for being VOID. They told us to PROVE they did this???? They also cancelled courtesy cars night before, they forgot to put oil in the engine once when we were in for a service, they keep your car for over three weeks etc, they basically will lie about everything SO please stay away from this garage TAKE your VOLVO to Clelands in Galashields you will see a HUGE difference in customer service and human decency. The whole experience with John Clarke Newbridge Edinburgh has been horrific upsetting and stressful and of course an extremely costly lesson to stay away from this garage and chain.

In late 2023 I purchased a Volvo XC90 from John Clark (Edinburgh). Some 6 months later, after remedial work, the car was returned to me with a fault in the 360 degree camera display with the view from the left door camera becoming unavailable after a few seconds. I left the car with John Clark and after 3 days investigation, I was infomed that the fault had been diagnosed as being with the coaxial cable from the door mirror camera and the part would have to be ordered from Volvo Sweden. Unfortunately, 2 months later in early June 2024 it was discovered that John Clark had received the wrong part and that the correct part was out of stock in Sweden. As at 24 July 2024, I am still waiting for John Clark to advise me when it expects to receive the part and the date it plans to resolve the fault.

My complaint is that John Clark has not only failed to fix a fault in a new vehicle in a reasonable time but that it has not bothered to keep me informed about the planned date for its repair.

Aaron Scott of John Clark Volvo Edinburgh made the purchase of my new vehicle a very enjoyable and stress free experience. He was knowledgable, responsive, and extremely helpful. I would recommend him and the dealership without reserve.

Absolute farce from start to finish. If I was to write down every detail of what happened nobody would believe it. Car was in for some work. Kept calling for updates to be told 'someone will call you back'.. Checked my call log over 4 week period and I had to call them 32 times. Around 22 times I was advised someone will call you back. Still waiting! Never experienced anything like this in my life. Left me without a car for almost a month - even though I was entitled to a courtesy vehicle. This had to be approved by the warranty company, but the garage dragged their heels. The whole episode was infuriating and almost sent me over the edge. Never want to deal with them again.

Just drove my new used Volvo XC40 up to Glen Coe for a day on the hills. Big thanks to Aaron at JC Volvo Edinburgh, for making this happen. Car was prepared immaculately, new brakes, tyres and an excellent personal experience from start to end. Oh and 2 years warranty.

Absolutely shafted by these people. Booked a courtesy car, waited 6 weeks for the repair. They called day before saying they needed another option, we actually agreed to help them out, running round ourselves. They then call late afternoon to say they need to keep the car and it’s up to us to sort out transport until they see us next Tuesday, there a pun in there somewhere for this trashy outfit.

Had to book many weeks in advance for warranty work - as needed a £15 courtesy car…
Take 1 hour to get to dealership to be told eh , there has been an error and have no courtesy car… goodbye
No try to resolve or apology.
Still waiting on service manager to call … guess will be a long wait.

Shambles! Booked car in for service and MOT - as a waiting appointment. Confirmed on line and on phone a week before and again when handed keys in. Told it would be ready in 2hrs. Timed past the 2hrs, gave them the benefit of the doubt - chased them up after nearly 4hrs sat in waiting area - car not even started!
Apparently not marked as waiting appointment.
Loads of staff on, not even one of them had any common sense to check with a customer - who had outsat everyone else to see if they could help.
Had to take time off work and just a complete shambles.
Customer service would actually have been 0! Don’t be fooled that confirming something 3 times means it’s sorted.

If only that had happened, Just spent over £37k on a car and the experience has been poor from the start with poor communication, delays, unanswered questions, extra charges - £400 (which is now being refunded) for something we didn't want and weren't asked about - and not a hint of an apology.

Taking this up direct with John Clark, hopefully, so watch this space for an update.

15th April: Despite being promised a refund over 3 weeks ago still waiting for it.

Servicing experience is poor considering the very high cost. Second year in a row that I haven’t received a vehicle health check and haven’t received a subscription renewal for the Volvo Cars App, even though it’s included in the price. I should have learned my lesson first time around. Would rather drive to Volvo Galashiels or Perth than use again. Premium prices, budget service.

Great sales experience, Thomas was very helpful and knowledgeable. We have had the car for around 6/7 weeks now and are very pleased with the car we purchased. However, after putting the car into the garage to have a protection pack fitted it would appear that the service you then receive from the service department is anything but great. Car received back with a screw through the tyre which has now been repaired but I have now received the car back with a damaged alloy wheel? Very disappointing for a dealership of this size.
