Nice clothes and nice people but they make an absolutely devastating amount of recycling that they simply throw away. (The paper in purses, the plastic from wrapping the clothes) I won’t shop here anymore, as this company needs to be more concerned with the environment.

Wish I could give zero stars, so I placed an order for in-store pickup and realized if I ordered two of them I can get free shipping, I have spent 2 days trying to get the order canceled they tell me it's canceled when I call the 1-800 number but it is not then I do an online chat and they tell me I can cancel it myself or wait 10 days through the store, I send an email to the customer service help email and it tells me to call or do a chat, now I've been trying to call the store and for 2 hours no one answers the phone for in-store pick up. This is the first time I've ordered JCPenney store pickup and I would never ever ever do it again because it's as simple as giving the option to cancel the order in the order email. But they only offer that for shipping not in store pickup it's the most ridiculous and worst shopping experience of my life

I placed a ship to store order online on 11/22/25 for delivery on 11/28/25. I still haven’t received it. I’ve called several times and have been told it is in transit and they can’t give me any more information. I asked to cancel the order but I have to wait until the product arrives at the store. I was already charged for this item and now I can’t get a refund until it arrives…. And they can’t tell me how long this will be. I am very disappointed ☹️

I ordered a shirt for my girlfriend’s grandma for Christmas. Total was 32.99 after shipping. I today (4 days later) got an email it was successfully returned and they assess 20.95 back into my account for the purchase. When I called to ask why it was returned I was told “incomplete address” when my appartment literally has a dedicated spot for packages and I’ve never had issues. I understand things happen so I called to get it straightened out. I explained my situation and they were helpful. I told them I would like to have the item shipped again to me please for them to tell me they were of stock now. So when I said okay can I be refunded the rest of my money given I had to pay for an item I have yet to receive. They said there is was nothing they can do. I’m now put a gift and 12 dollars which isn’t a lot but it’s principle if I walked into jc penny and took 12 dollars of merchandise I’d probably go to jail. Very frustrated.

I recently purchased two pair of running tights which were not what I expected. I had initially thought I wanted them and removed the tags, but realized they didn't fit my needs. I returned them via UPS less than a week after purchasing with the original tags affixed to the correct items. To my shock, JCPenney mailed them back to me and refused to refund my money, stating they were used. I called customer service and the representative concurred I was out of luck. Maybe I'm a little late to the party, but I have never had any issues returning items to other retailers such as Amazon or Macy's. I have spent alot of money over the years at JCPenney and will NEVER buy anything from then again. I'm also in awe of ridiculous amount spent on shipping these items back and forth. I recommend not purchasing your Christmas gifts from JCPenney, or anything else for that matter.

I visited the JC penny hair salon located at Pacific View Mall 377 Mills Rd Ventura CA 93003 om Sunday November 23,2025. I wanted to get my four daughters hair straightened because they have curly hair. The hair stylist said OK they can do it. I got there at around 11am. On the JCPenney website it states that it takes on hour to do that style and it would cost $65 for each girl. The experience was horrible the hair stylist used all the wrong products and made their hair so tangled. The manager comes to me and says it will be $650 because their hair is so tangle. When I do their hair at home myself using the right products I am done in under 2 hours. I told her I can't afford to pay that I don't have that much money, and I never saw a detangling fee included in the prices on the website. She says well it's going to cost $650. I told her I don't have that money, so she says well give me $450 then. I said the most I can pay is $300 but she kept saying she wants $450. I kept waiting and waiting for their hair to be done. Nothing was done all the way until 6:30 pm. One of my daughter hair was barely straighten all the roots and edges and back of her hair was still curly when i looked at it. My other 3 daughters' hair was washed, and they were still trying to detangle 7 hours later and not straighten. The manager keeps telling me she wants $450 and they didn't do their job. I told her the kids' hair is not done I can't afford to pay $450, and their hair is not done so she says well you need to pay for the stylist time. I ended up paying $208.00 for my girl's hair that wasn't done. I had to go home and rewash and detangle, blow-dry and straighten all their hair myself. My whole day was wasted, and we had other plans, my money wasted and a horrible first hair salon experience for my daughters. They cry all night and say they never want to go back to a hair salon again. Before I left, I ask all the stylist that was trying to do their hair have they ever done curly hair and black hair before they told me No. I am so upset all they had to tell me was we can't do curly black hair we don't have any experience in it so I didn't have to go thru this. I got no apology from the manager or stylist. It's clear all they wanted was the money. I would like an apology, and I would like my money back. This is unacceptable and JCPenney needs to remove ethnic hairstyles option for the website on JCPenney hair salon because you cannot do black curly hair. I will never visit another JCPenney hair salon or shop at JCPenney ever again. I would like this problem resolved and not to see this happen to another person. Thank You.

I ordered a luggage set in Traditioal Slate. They sent me Purple via UPS. In order to have it sent back UPS they wanted me to pay $8.00 for their mistake. Totally unacceptable. Now I have to travel 45 minutes to their store for a return which defeats the whole benefit of buying online.

PURCHASE EVERYTHING ONLINE. YEARS AGO I WENT TO THE GREEN ACRES VALLEY STREAM STORE. BUT IT CLOSED. THIS YEAR J.C. PENNEY HAS SOME GREAT FASHION ITEMS..FAR ON POINT AND TRENDIER THAN YEARS PAST! I LOVE TRENDY YOUTHFUL CLOTHES AND WHOEVER IS DOING THE BUYING IS DOING A GREAT JOB! NEVER KNOW WHAT I'LL SEE FROM PURSES..CLOTHING..BOOTS ETC. THE PRICES/PROMOTIONS ARE FABULOUS. I ALSO BUY FOR MY HUSBAND AT CHRISTMAS..THE ONLINE SITE IS QUICK..PRECISE AND EASY TO NAVIGATE!

Onlilne shopping is going downhill fast. I ordered an item and was not given an order tracking. I had to call to get it and ask where the item was. Saying they're sorry for the inconvenience doesn't cut it. Either fix it or close down. They just want profit and don't care about the customer, none of these corporations.

I wanted to support JCPenney. I ordered flannel sheets. Big mistake. The fuzz and lint upon drying were massive. Could have filled an entire shopping bag. Fuzz flying around when dryer opened, I had to clean out lint from dryer and door. Ended up inhaling a bit and choking. Shame on Penney's for this item. Ordered a queen size also it is going back before opening.

Used to be the only store I shopped at for Big & Tall, but their pricing has become so dishonest, I can't trust them anymore. They offer merchandise at sale price, but at checkout discount disappears. You insert coupon code and the "regular" price inflates, so even with the coupon the cost goes up further. Same in store: I bought a bag of Jelly beans at checkout that were marked 50% off - but no price. Looking at receipt I see I was charged $25 for the bag (receipt said reg price was $75!!!)

Although their products are okay with reasonable prices, I had a negative experience with online shopping and call customer service.

I went shopping at JCPenny at Ashland, KY, for the first time and after I was done, a clerk at the registry told me she can save me %16 if I sign for REWARDS CARD. I agreed , but I missed the red flag - when she requested my SSN. She lied to me and it turned out it is very common problem at JCPenny. At the end, she handed me a temporary CREDIT CAD. I was shocked and asked what the yearly fee is. She said she does not know. Really?? I plan to file a complain at BBB

Ordered a chair from them a month ago. Not delivered, o delivery date. I use the chat feature and they tell me to call. When I call they submit an escalation but provide no update. No clue when or if I will receive what I ordered. Very sketchy company, don’t know what happened to them

Heads up when ordering online through their website. If you need to make any changes, you have to call within 30 minutes—after that, they won’t modify or cancel your order, which honestly seems crazy nowadays.

I ran into an issue because my old address showed up in the email confirmation. At checkout, it didn’t appear, and when I used Apple Pay, all my info popped in automatically. I assumed it would grab my current address. When I tested the checkout, it said to choose ship to home or store (normally an address would pop up), and on the next page, I realized you have to click “edit” to see and confirm all address details. That part was on me for missing it, but the process felt odd and confusing.

Customer service told me I need to wait for the tracking number, create a UPS My Choice account (there’s a fee), and try to change it there—with no guarantee it would work. Last option: Filing a dispute, but I was hoping to avoid that. I was frustrated, but now I understand how their system works and their policies—never again.
