I purchased a hydraulic excavator from iron planet. It was supposedly checked by their people to be in good working order. Upon receipt the machine operated very slowly. After spending thousands of dollars to find the problem. The main hydraulic pump had been professionally bypassed to cover up that the main pump is not working. They offer no help. Buyers be ware. They are very good at covering up problems. I will be seeking legal help .

WOW, WOW WOW, sometimes you think the world doesn't have evil in it and then you go to Iron Planet( rich bros specifically). What a Terrible organization, you spend time and money to create a great concept and ruin it with scum business practices (just like "Crazy Eddie", Circuit City, and Blockbuster).
Here is a simple solution you post the total some pays when the bid. some items charge 10% transaction fee , some $100 minimum even on a $50 purchase. Then they tell you it's in the fine print, or you can pay a $500 cancelation fee for a $50 item. How about you charge the same percent fee across the board build a reputable company and maybe even exceed your expectations.. WOW what a novel idea.

If you work for this company you're no different from sleazy telemarketers tricking old folks out of their retirement money. You should be ashamed to work here. I will make it my life mission to redeem my $100 transaction fee in negative reviews. I look forward to the challenge.

Shipping:
Your shipping is also a thinly veiled scam, I got quotes of $700 to ship an item from SC to NC. In a worst-case scenario, UPS is probably $70-100 Max. here is a crazy idea you create partnerships with legitimate businesses like UPS stores to package items for you locally and you can add 25%-50% to that and everyone gets what they want. Don't pretend like you don't own the crappy shipping company as well.

Cancellation fee and Storage fees:$500 really on every item. so the fee is 10 times! the purchase price of a $50 item. Here is a crazy idea, you have a person pay the winning bid price and you can keep it if they don't pick up or give it to the second highest bidder, wow amazing everyone wins.

I will be forwarding your fee structure to SC, NC, and CA state Attonerys office, and make a formal complaint.

This is a message to Ownership, Kudos on stealing $100 from me and multiple other consumers. I say to you either you are a morally reprehensible person ( being that the company is from California nuff said) or you simply lack the business acumen or intellectual ability to achieve your goals legitimately, I assume you are the type of person that cheats at board games when no one is looking.

I have a purchased few items from Ritchie Bros/Iron planet before and the experience was pleasant once the procedures were clear to me (wire transfers etc). I would've rated them a cumulative 4.5, no issues. That all changed today. I purchased a wrought iron drive way gate which ironically is the least expensive item I've purched from them. I scheduled pick up from Cherry Industrial on 3452 S Burleson Blvd Alvarado TX . After I scheduled on Wednesday, I called and reverifed on Thursday that I could pick up the gates between 2-4 Friday Dec 8, 2023. Was told a few times, we are good as long as the items are picked up by 4 pm. I arrive at 245 pm and it's closed! Not only closed but none of the numbers I used the previous 2 days received an answer. I went next door to the equipment rental place and they told me Cherry Industrial closes randomly all the time! I called and got in touch with the iron planet 800 number. I explained (slightly irritated) my situation, the scheduling, closures etc and that I have driven from Austin to basically Ft. Worth for a confirmed pickup. Long story short they annotated my "case" and tried to connect me with a supervisor and you guessed it voice-mail! I called back and different lady tried to connect me...voicmail, and could not give out any information on other contacts, not even a name to add to this review and there is no one else available for me to speak too, unacceptable! She told me she could see the notations from the first lady and that someone would contact me on Monday. I explained again, that I just drove 4hrs from Austin to make a scheduled/confirmed pickup, unacceptable again.! I called the Ft. Worth office thinking since they were local and might be able to provide assistance that the 1800 national number could not. Same scenario above PLUS the transfer to voice-mail, unacceptable! All I wanted was someone to open the gate and let me get my items. Not even a return call, message anything/nothing! In the past I recommended Ritchie bros/Iron Planet to fellow military veterans and retirees. After the level of incompetence and lack of real customer service I can no longer recommend them to anyone, especially military personnel as this lack of contact information and available leadership is appalling! Especially to anyone associated with the military. Ritchie bros/Iron Planet I'm disappointed and disgusted and now driving back to Austin without my items and zero return contact.
P.S the customer service reps were nice and at least tried. And of course Cherry Industrial is closed on weekends...

CROOKS!! don't buy from here. The iron clad guarantee is a crock. They don't inspect or guarantee anything. Their response is-"you can just resell it". Resell the piece of junk, they conned me into buying?

Awful company with zero customer support from the area rep to the ceo of even Richie brothers who owns them. Over promise and under deliver. Please save yourself some time and list your stuff with someone else. These jokers charge 8 percent and for what? They can’t even get the pictures or listings right and will ignore your phone calls and pleas.

Bad customer support, cannot reach.
Cannot find pick up location.

$100 commission for $10 item.
SCAM!

This place is a huge scam! I bought a flooring machine and paid on time and paid a deposit to get the item shipped. The item arrived but was NOT AS PICTURED OR DESCRIBED! The hydraulic system was broken and I was told it would be $4000-$5000 to repair! Then when I went to pay for the shipping cost they raised the price by 700$!!! STAY FAR AWAY!

Michigan Buyers Beware!!!! (Humvee) I just received my SF-97 so I could apply for my Michigan Title. NOPE... Iron Planet sends a Notarized Transfer (Iron Planet form) and a Title that they have never transferred from the Government.
SOS Department says Nope, Iron Planet needs to transfer the Title, from the Government to Iron Planet, then from Iron Planet to me.. I called Iron Planet and they responded " In the print of terms and conditions, it is called out that some states will not accept this form". " For $200 dollars, I can send the paperwork back to them and they will get me a Florida Title for Michigan"...... Not Impressed !!!!!!!!!

I've purchased equipment from Ironplanet twice now; this company is awful. The equipment is supposed to be inspected, giving you a guarantee that it is as listed. Both items I've purchased have not operated at all and when you dispute that it was not as listed they won't help and you have to fight wasting tons of time to attempt to get them to cover everything. You pay a premium for their guarantee and it's worthless. I would strongly recommend not purchasing from them.

Bought a large forklift, applied to their "get a shipping quote" a few came in low, that's good right, but none of the offer called back. After the auction 2 called back at double the price, these people charged us twice for shipping what we won the equipment for, saying sorry that's the best price we can get you. Got it delivered and the driver said you get a good deal on the shipping? I told him how much and he said what an absolute rip off, sure enough called around and WOW I paid double for shipping. They said well what you want us to do? NEVER again, I gave them two stars because they didn't back out of the winning bid and what was pictured is what we won although quite more rust than expected. Haven't been on their website since, that was 1 year ago.

You need info, on a product they are selling.
You can't get a hold of anyone!
They don't call you back.
They don't message you back.
They won't find out any additional info about an item they are selling...

The biggest joke of a operation I have ever dealt with. I would guarantee iron planet would pass the buck if you bought anything from this site and had issues, with false advertising of the seller..

I finally got through to a support guy after 3 days of calling.... HE COULDN'T HELP HIMSELF OUT OF A WET PAPER BAG.... Total run around...

i have purchased a few items through them and what it boils down to is that they only deal in junk and their customer service and their "iron clad assurance" is an absolute joke

I've been waiting 2 months for an update about a title that they are suppose to send me. They are very quick to call and request payment but pick up and hangup the phone when I call. The "Client Care' team does not care about anything. They say they will 'call me back' but have never called me back. I must say I've been respectful on all of my 20+ calls regarding the matter and don't get the respect as a client. Do better!

Been a long time customer.
Bid received invoice the transaction fee was 100.00 on a 90.00 item.
Called ironplanet they said they changed there fees.
They never notified anyone just did it.
Done with them will Ritchie Bros do same.
Time for other auction to get my business.
They raised gov planet to 15% so why 100.00 min transaction fee through ironplanet?

Rip off,false advertising Watch out for Paul and the gang,Just check this item number 8075606 it spoused to be iron clad assurance purchased but the machine they sold as runing equipment will not even run to load,and there response your problem you already paid for it

I purchased a telehandler from IronPlanet because it appeared to be in great shape (both in pictures and the write-up). The machine DOES run. I'll give them that much... but there was a diesel fuel leak, the tires were shot, MULTIPLE bent and broken parts including fenders and cowling. The main hydraulic cylinder needs to be re-packed. The radiator fan blades were broken. They used black paint on the dash display to cover up a warning light. These are only a few of the issues I had with this purchase. And IronClad Guarantee? HA! That's as big a load of bull**** as their pre-sale inspection of the machine. Do yourself a favor. Look elsewhere for equipment. I wish I had.

Website is a scam. They put up a picture and description that isn't even of the piece of equipment for sale and then put buy now for $100 on it but it won't allow you to buy it. False advertising scammers!!!

The worst thing that happened to me today, I think that I am dealing with a large company that has a reputation, but unfortunately I have decided to buy a truck from IronPlanet and I knew that I had won the bet and I had been taken all the time until I got back all that was required of me. from Stopping from work until I can gat the money and I have 7 days I send the money on third day pay the insurance Teket for the trip, all the effort, time and psychological fatigue. I simply called to make sure that the money had arrived. I was surprised that they not need to sell the truck and the say the return to seller I ask what the reason the never answer your question just the say the have a right and the one talk to me scream on the phone that allegiance was given, and the strange thing is that they do not give you convincing reasons, only the outfit says to you, we will refund your money back . What about my time and effort And about the money that I paid before the airline tickets and the hotel, and the money that I paid for insurance, all of this does not mean anything to them. They do not care about the door of a person who may cause him a loss that is considered small to them, but it is great to some people, including me. These companies must be held accountable. I am very sad, feeling that I have insulted my dignity without reason or pride, even denouncing it and I will knock on all doors until I wii not lose my right. Your release and pick scheduler is a joke, drove 110 miles to pick up my truck, Drove there for nothing. Your people did not email the correct person.I was told here is his number pick it up next Tuesday. First and LAST experience with you people. God forbid getting a supervisor on the phone. Auction is a scam. Beware.
Went to pickup an item 4 hours away and it wasn't available or ever existed. Will be suing for time, expense and criminal fraud. This place messed with the wrong person trying to steal my money and time. See one of you POS at your front door on your way home
