DREADFUL EXPERIENCE WITH HIDDEN TRAPS
Whilst the sales process went well, helpful advice etc, it all went south after that. not clear anywhere I had to pay local duties to have my good released. Their prices are supposed to be tax inclusive. We ordered various lights totally nearly $3000. In particular we ordered a set (3) of crackled glass (silver in appearance) pendants for our new kitchen. They arrived and the fittings installed by our electrician, however when he unpacked the shades one was gold and did not match the other 2 (silver). We reported this to Ideas4Lighting. They refused to take the wrong one back and exchange it, even though they acknowledged it had come from a different batch. As the wiring had been installed was their reason, but we were not to know until the last stage of installation. Against my better judgement I ordered a 4th given assurance that it would be silver. It was, so I carefully repacked the gold shade with the unopened fittings with a view to returning it. Alas, the company requires 10% restocking fee and notwithstanding all of this their fault shipping was for my account meaning I would probably lose 50% of the cost. They were so unhelpful on a matter completely caused by their QA process shipping the incorrect one in the first place

I love the lights
I love the lights. Such nice contemporary materials used - a bronze effect mesh inset inside a clear glass casing. There's warmth and good visibility so they're not just decorative. A quality product at a good price.They were delivered very quickly also and well packaged.

Misleading information and disappointing customer service for a family business
How it all started?....
1. Me: On 03/11, I enquired about a light pendant on ideas4lighting live chat.
2. ideas4lightning.com live chat: “Thanks for patiently waiting! Upon checking, the price for it is for 3”
3. Me: I ordered the light pendants, thinking I would get 3 of them.
4. Me: On 20/11, I enquired with ideas4lighting.com customer service about my order, whether I would receive 1 light pendant or 3 of them.
5. ideas4lighting.com customer service: “You have purchased a single light fitting”
6. Me: Please cancel my order as I was told by your live chat service I would receive 3 light fittings for this price. I attached the screenshots of the live chat conversation as evidence.
7. Ideas4lighting.com: On 21/11 replied “This unfortunately has already been booked and shipped with DHL, we are unable to cancel the order at this stage.”
8. Me: I contacted DHL, who informed me that this shipment had yet to be picked up and to ask the shipper to cancel the order as there is still time because it is still in the UK.
9. Me: I emailed ideas4lighting.com, informing them of my conversation with DHL.
10. Ideas4lighting.com: “We do not use DHL for the pick up. All our international shipments are consolidated and shipped on a pallet with our own broker to a DHL Shipping center in Warril (UK) before boarding for final destination.”
11. Me: Contacted DHL again and informed them of the situation. DHL announced that the shipper (ideas4lighting.com) can contact their broker to do the needful. DHL agrees to put a note on the system to stop the shipment from boarding pending the shipper’s approval. On another note, I was informed that I could refuse delivery as I’ve raised the concern with the shipper before shipment boarding for Australia.
12. Me: Contacted ideas4lighting.com again to relay the recent information.
13. Ideas4lighting.com: Still on 21/11 reply was “As per T&C;s, we are unable to cancel an order in transit. You can of course refuse delivery and as per terms, any subsequent charges applied to us for your refusal will be deducted from your total refund”
14. Me: On 20/11, when I emailed Jason, I could not initiate a cancellation on ideas4lightining.com order website because the status of my order was “Order booked – holding state before dispatch”. On 21/11, after emailing Jason, my order is now “dispatched”. I then send a cancellation return form. No answer from Jason or anyone else.
15. DHL live track system updates:
a. 16/11/23: My shipment information received
b. 20/11/23: I enquired about my shipment with ideas4lighting.com and DHL
c. 23/11/23: Shipment information received
d. 24/11/23 at 20:39 (UK local time): My shipment has departed from a DHL facility to London-Heathrow-UK to go to DHL sort facility London-Heathrow-UK
e. 25/11/23: Arrived at DHL sort facility Melbourne-Australia
16. Me: On 26/11, I filled a complaint on ideas4lightning website. The automated system tells me I will receive an answer by the end of Tuesday 28/11. Today we are 30/11 and there is no reply from them.
All of this happened because, in the first instance, the seller's customer service provided me with incorrect sale information. When I tried to stop my order from reaching me while it was still in the UK, ideas4lighting.com refused to get the order redelivered to them because they are "unable to cancel an order in transit"; while the carrier (DHL) confirmed that the shipper (ideas4lighting.com) can stop the shipment from reaching me if they want to.
Instead of showing some goodwill and trying to rectify an error, they pursued sending the goods overseas for the receiver to pay extra charges as described above.
FOR BUYERS LOOKING AT PURCHASING FROM THIS COMPANY – PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS AND SCRUTINISE THEIR WEBSITE CAREFULLY BEFORE COMMITTING TO A PURCHASE.

Damaged table
I have now been waiting 6 weeks for a response from this company. After filling in 5 online forms they have marked these complete . It will now not allow me to complete any further form .Spoke to live chat who said they escalated 3 times. I have received no email or phone call. They also refused to give me a managers name to contact. This company could give you a real headache. Be careful
Totally dysfunctional company
Totally dysfunctional company. The lamp arrived way too late for installation so I sent it back insured and signed for but I have no news and no refund yet weeks later.
Poor communication.
I ordered 2 lights from Ideas4lighting, and was given a delivery date of 2 days later, with an email suggesting no delays were expected. I waited a week beyond the expected date (as their website indicates) then contacted customer services. They did not have the lights in stock, and were awaiting delivery. Customer services responded quickly, hence not a 1 star review.

The delivery is always prompt and the lights received have always been as ordered.
All the light fittings we have ordered to date are high quality and much better than the cheaper versions from Beacon etc.

AVOID THIS DISHONEST BUSINESS
Awful customer service. Items take weeks to be dispatched from their warehouse, and then you will be charged a huge custom duty/tax (>25% of the items price) upon the arrival of the items in your country (in my case, Australia). They know about such hidden charges and hide them in pages behind small links at their website, while they can easily let you know about these charges at checkout based on the country you are ordering from.
Like many other online shopping platforms, they could add a note at checkout (below other charges) like this: "The country of destination may impose custom duty on the items you are ordering, please see this (link) for more details."
But, to avoid the risk of losing your order, they do not give you such a warning anywhere. An honest business would let their customer know about such extra costs that they need to be aware of and would let them decide if they want to buy an item or not.
Instead at the delivery tab in an item's description, after mentioning the delivery timeframe and their delivery options they say "for info on importing, click here." with no direct or even indirect mention of custom duty that may apply to your order.

Extremely disappointed - misleading
Extremely disappointed that I didn’t read the reviews for this company before purchasing lights from them. The website called itself ‘Online lighting shop Australia’ and yet when my items were on their way DHL contacted me to tell me I owed another $600+ import duty tax. The lights had already cost me over $3000. Customers should be made aware of this at the point of purchase - I only just managed to scrape together the extra money (that was allocated for something else) to be able to receive the lights. Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to ‘find’ an additional and unexpected $600. Shame on this company for not being upfront with its customers and misleading them into thinking they are an Australian-based company. They still haven’t arrived - so unsure if they’re even undamaged at this point.

I would give them zero stars if I could. They have basically swindled me out of thousands of dollars and I just wish I I had read the poor reviews before I trusted them to be a reputable business and handed over my own money.
Avoid, avoid, avoid.
Don’t take the risk. For those that have had a good experience, thank your lucky stars. For others like me, they send you the wrong item, force you to fully unpack it and take photos of it before they’ll allow you to send back and then ‘claim’ it was damaged when returned despite it not being damaged when it was picked up by their own courier company that they’ve booked. They’ve used every ‘legal’ trick in the book to basically ensure they never have to follow through on any sort of customer service. The customer is in a no win situation because they make the most of every loophole in their T&Cs. Good for you, ideas4lighting, you regularly manage to swindle people out of thousands of dollars because there is nothing you will take liability for.
The nerve of their absolute refusal to refund my money (A$2000+) when they sent me the wrong item in the first place. In terms of the 'damage' incurred, it was a glass disc that apparently renders the whole rest of the lamps unsellable and worth A$2000+. I have never experienced such poor service in my life. Nevermind the fact the items they sent me were less in RRP than the ones I had actually purchased and they’ve refused to even refund me the difference. It’s criminal.
They claim they’re a ‘small family business’ and yet have no problem keeping thousands of dollars of other people’s money.
Read some of the other critical reviews and you’ll see a pattern here: wrong item sent, customer returns it in good faith, they claim item is ‘damaged’ and all of sudden they won’t refund you.
I’ll be reporting them to the ACCC with the hope that they can be banned from selling to Australian consumers because they operate in the most reprehensible manner.
Again I urge you, avoid like the plague.

Should have read the other reviews before I purchased! Ordered end of May23 and 2 months later they still haven't left the UK. Due date come and gone. Only update after I asked and Jason tells me "within a week". What he meant was they would have it within a week - a week after the latest due date I was supposed to receive in it in Australia. So disappointing. If I ever receive them, they will be going straight back - all I got back was "please read the refund policy carefully!" No point providing order # as I notice the company only responds to the "good" reviews! Post reply: Maybe you should consider your communication process as it needs attention!
