H.Samuel - Cambridge Anmeldelser 

I originally provided a very positive rating in January, after needing to return a gold chain bought August 2025 that had snapped in January 2026 with no reasonable provocation. The Cambridge store staff were very helpful, and the product was repaired and returned under guarantee. One month later it snapped again, same place: and again was accepted for repair and returned with good faith and spirit. I was assured by Cambridge store manager that if it happened again, the chain would be replaced or refunded (at my choice). Come late May (I kid you not) it breaks again (different place), and I bring it back for promised refund or replacement because it's obviously a dud chain. But this time H Samuel can see what's coming, and sure enough, analysis from their "technical department" finds that the chain has been "sharply pulled and abused", and the repair (no refund or replacement offered) will be GBP 68 plus postage/delivery. Then I recalled Gerald Ratner in 1991 telling us that most of the stuff that his company Ratners sold was "total crap", cheaper to make than an M&S prawn sandwich, and didn't last as long. Guess which company took on most of the bankrupt Ratners stores .. I don't have beef with the Cambridge store staff - and we are in talks with Resolver about the issue. What I have a beef with is the obviously poor quality of the products that H Samuel sells (not cheap either - the chain was GBP 189.00) and total failure to stand by their 1-yr guarantee (hence us going through Resolver). So - beware the Ratner curse!

Went into Cambridge branch to replace watch battery on a watch bought at Samuel’s. Assistant unhelpful and directed me to Timpsons the locksmiths as they had more appropriate tools to do the job!!!!!!! Unbelievable!!

Disappointing service after a great experience at the Southend store. Staff member clearly didn't want to help with our recent purchases (as it didn't = commission). Advised us to come back after Xmas to get any help! Luckily the fire alarm went off and we could leave. Absolutely awful service. I'd rather take my custom to another store after that experience

Sales person encouraged me not to just buy what was in store, arranged delivery of the ring I preferred in the right size.
