There was only 1 rep working alone on a busy Saturday which made the wait for our rental car very long.

This location was totally slammed because the airport vocation was sold out. The Kettner Ave. Office crew did remarkably well under difficult circumstances.

I was able to book a car at the last minute after another company cancelled on me. The staff at Hertz were friendly despite being short-staffed and the process for pick up and drop off was efficient.

The pick up and use of the vehicle met and even exceeded my expectations. However the return and the billing is inconsistent with what I expected. Although I returned the car well before the due back time, I was charged an additional hour of use. I can prove this by showing what time Uber picked me up from Hertz the morning of my return. I also used the 5 star service when picking up the vehicle which was awesome getting the vehicle and leaving however the agent added on full insurance coverage without asking or my authorization even though I had declined and had zero insurance request in my reservation for pickup or even in my profile. I guess he added it because he wanted to as I doubt the system would do this automatically. He should have at least told me or even asked me but I would have thought I would have to authorize this somehow. But I guess picking up the vehicle without signing you are agreeing to this kind of service.

They gave a smaller car than what I booked and the staff misled me saying that the rental includes unlimited mileage.

I reserved a midsize SUV (Nissan Rogue or similar) several weeks before a trip and when I went to pickup the vehicle they did not have the type vehicle that I reserved. Instead of upgrading to another vehicle as I have experienced with another car rental service they gave me a smaller vehicle at the same rate. It was a hybrid so I didn’t complain but after driving the car for 7 days I should have made a big deal about it.

The customer service at this location was top tier, no lines, no waiting just helpful smiling agents. The car we rented was also new clean perfect lots of safety features for driving in San Diego. 10/10 experience 👌🏻

The timetable for returns was very limiting in only being able to bring back vehicles during open hours 8am-5pm. This should be significantly noted and highlighted before finalizing a vehicle. This is the first rental location I have ever not been able to drop the keys in a drop location along with the car after hours.

The car had a film on the interior of the windshield. It wasn't vacuumed properly, and they added cdw/ldw insurance even after I specifically declined it.

Tried numerous times and spent hours on the phone trying to change the drop off location without success. Each time I called they tried to push me off to another department. I discovered that that Hertz customer care doesn't really care.

Loved the car I was given. I have a prius and was nicely suprised that I got a hybrid as my rental car. I enjoyed driving the Kia Niro and it almost got the same mpg that my prius does. Pick up and drop off was very simple. I was renting as my car was getting some body work done as my neighbor had backed into it. Hertz made the whole car swapping easy. My car will need some more work in the near future and I will difentily use Hertz again.

The team at the Downtown San Diego location is what makes my experience great, literally! Their kindness, patience, and hospitality have kept me coming back time and time again. I have rented from several companies before, primarily budget/avis, and even other hertz locations but often times you get employees that look at you as an annoyance, a nuisance, a problem. People that don’t like the job they signed up to do and take that out on you. Not here, even when I’ve had issues with my card or they’re sold out of cars, they still keep that same level of kindness and respect. It’s those little but huge actions that go a long way. I appreciate the kindness, the clear communication, and hospitality of the team at the downtown San Diego Kettner Blvd location. Thank you Taylor, Kenley, Eva, and Perry.
