**Terrible Experience with Expired Products at Heron Foods**

I recently bought 2 trays of strawberry trifles from Heron Foods, each containing 3 trifles. Both trays had a sell-by date of December 5th, but when I ate a bit of one on December 4th, it was already spoiled. This is completely unacceptable, especially when the product is still on the shelf with a "next-day" sell-by date.

It is disgraceful that Heron Foods would place food with such short shelf lives on display, and it's clear there is a lack of proper quality control. I understand the trifles were only £1 each, but the issue is far bigger than the £2 total cost. It’s about trust and ensuring customers receive safe, fresh products.

I will be seeking compensation for these spoiled trifles and want to warn other customers about this problem. Don’t risk buying perishable goods from Heron Foods unless you want to deal with the same disappointment. I will also be sharing my experience through a bad review to help others avoid this issue.

My husband went to herons food ravensthorpe dewsbury picked some chocolate bars but was busy so put them back & 2 Asian security guards followed him to the next shop & asked to look in his bag & then left him with out apologies so thanks for the embarrassment & we won’t ever step foot back in your shop again & instead of looking at innocent genuine people they should be watching for proper criminal behaviour

Heron foods are becoming a disgrace they are becoming the masters of shrinkflation half there stock is getting much smaller and they are more expensive than most shops and supermarkets around just a few examples monster munch and wotsits 6 pack crisps have shrunk to 12 gram bags potatoes have shrunk to 3 lb bags they are also 3 pints milk,bread are the most expensive things like soups beans are also the most expensive things locally this list could go on but it would take forever

hi, I have a problem with the payment at heron foods, they took my payment 3 times and each one was canceled. and the application shows that the money has been withdrawn. The woman manager refused to issue confirmations of canceled transactions. She was rude, shouted at me and said that she was not interested and that she wanted confirmation. She told me that I should call the management of Heron Foods. I do not recommend shopping at heron foods leicester city

I went into heron on orford lane Warrington this evening whilst I was being served by Rebecca I noticed I had been overcharged I pointed this out to her she just mumbled “so“ the till says it’s this price I told her what the price was on shelf she just said the same thing again I asked her if she wanted me to show her the product she said no just pay I asked her if she could get the manager to come and sort it please she gave such a huge sigh sound and said she just wanted to go home she dragged her feet going towards the back of the store ( she wasn’t very well presented with a clean ironed uniform and frayed pants so untidy ) then Callum came out I explained the situation shown him the price on the item I was buying he was so helpful and sold me the items at the correct price he apologised for Rebecca’s appalling customer service and informed me they were trying to get rid of her anyway as she is not customer friendly as I witnessed if Rebecca doesn’t want to do the job she shouldn’t be there I work in pharmacy and am customer based I want to go home but wouldn’t dream of acting and treating customers the way she treated me tonight
Please don’t ignore my complaint you really need to teach her some manners and customer service skills if she is going to be continuing to work for heron foods

I would give it now stars if I could herron Walton Liverpool cash machine not working do asked staff could he open lock for trolley he said no due to company policy then when he was surviving he was talking to his mate on head set walk time he finished no eye contact never spoke to me then he left counter why there was people behind me only two staff on in the shop first and last time I will shop there the farm foods down the road is much better and the staff talk to you

The only good thing in this extremely cold place is the free drinks and some other nearly expired stuff they give away to the staff occasionally but still won't get them to a 2nd star from me.

Would even give a star what a rubbish company to work for dedicated 5 years of my life for that company, I was suffering with hand and leg pain worked through the pain till it got worse then I had to go doctors and go n sick leave for a cupple of weeks till I had treatment, but I never had any choice to go back just a instant dismissal with a valid sick note still n date. so unfare I'm a single mum, uve made my life hell, highly don't recommend this place to work, don't have time for there staff
Even gave me a dismissal Overstone while out in his car on his mobile phone so unprofessional

I would like to write in praise of the Heron Store in Birkenhead, Wirral. They had a special offer on the packs of turkey burgers. I made a mistake and picked up some wrong packets. Legally they didn't have to do anything, but they did sort the problem out in excellent fashion. The supervisor or manager I single out for extra praise. She displayed remarkable patience, and superb customer service skills. Although they gave me a refund of a few pounds, I am now more determined to shop even more at Heron, so they will make more than that money back in a few months. Plus I have told people in daily life, and on social media what a good company Heron are. Problems are rare at Heron, but knowing if there is problem they will probably go out of their way to sort it out, it gives people more confidence to shop there.

I do like Heron generally for the food prices and other random things I always seem to buy in there (I use a couple of the branches in Sheffield), but it really annoys me when they speak into their headsets and you think they're talking to you! Thats quite rude I think.

preston st johns centre i was greeted yesterday by a rude nasty attitude and she was using very abusive language to me and shouting she didnt even have a name badge on look for a plump young girl with blonde hair foul attitude when i questioned the wrong prices clearly she needs retraining or sacking throwing money and being rude to customers is not the way forward also she was coughing everywere. also the asian man on the checkout coughing sneezing everywere and rubbing his whole face with a dirty dishcloth. for sure i had a lucky escape from this hell hole of s shop. thank you to the other heron manager who said how disgusting is this to our loyal customers and thanks to the other girls at the other store for their support.

Having bought 40ltrs of fish food from Heron foods, not sure there was 40 ltrs in bag as I managed to get the 40 ltrs in containers that was 30 ltrs ?

The Shop in Kenton, Newcastle upon Tyne. NE3 3RX is brilliant 👏 All the staff are so polite, friendly and very helpful indeed! My sister goes there often for us and I used to go all the time. Dan was absolutely great too when I rang them to see if they still had some items on offer and Stacey was when I rang the other week 👍
I definitely recommend them 100% You always get five star service, great products at great prices 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Guy on the till talking into his head set about gaming, no acknowledgement at all, rude, disrespectful, just awful, no interaction at all, unless handing you your items and receipt counts 🙄😏
Had just been in Home Bargains next door where I received lovely customer service, difference was night and day.

Since herons was bought by bnm its gone massively down hill.

Friendly staff, low prices and convenient stores.

I have just spent 5 weeks in my hometown of Derby and shopped at Heron almost every day. As I have liver disease and therefore a limited diet, I was initially disappointed because there didn't seem to be many healthy eating choices; however, after explaining my situation to a member of staff, the said young man was very helpful and spent a lot of time taking me around the shop to point out numerous healthy products. I'm grateful. I don't know his name, but he has a beard and judging by the way he was dressed, I wouldn't be surprised if he liked death metal. This may ease identification.

I have one issue with the store: on four days (non-consecutive) they had almost no bread whatsoever. I went into the store room and asked the staff why. I was told that this was due to a lack of drivers. Apparently, this is because of Brexit, and to cut a long and sometimes confusing story short, drivers with an HGV license can now earn over a grand a week driving lorries into Europe, with the result that no one wants jobs driving "sh!tty bread vans" anymore. I suggested to the staff member who told me this that he might consider getting a HGV license himself and start earning a lot more than he was (probably) earning stacking shelves, and he said he would consider it. Anyway, back to point - Heron, the bread situation sucks. I hope you sort it out before I get back to Derby for another month next March.

Hello and thank you would not go a miss totally ignored, to busy talking rubbish to each other on the head sets. All i got was £ 4.29.... not a please or thankyou. Totally bad manners when they don't engage with customers! That was Fallings Park Wolverhampton, but I do find most Heron food shops are the same. He seemed to engrossed telling his colleague how sick he was at something..he never gave a smile as he didn't even look up. Really bad manners and ignorance.

It cheap but every shop I've been in smells terrible. Dont know if it's the food or what but dont like going in.

Maltby branch, staff on mobile phone, not bothered about serving customers. Returned 25 minutes later, still same position in shop, still talking to friend on mobile.
Not bothered about helping customer.
Employ people that want to work.
