Be wary!!
(UPDATE based on their reply: I did NOT go back to where my ring was made, as much as you’ve written that and twisted words. I went to another Hatton garden workshop nearby, who did it on the day & also you recommended this workshop as you know the person used to run the current workshop you’re in, do not put words in customers mouths)
You tried to make money off a situation that wasn’t necessary, and now trying to angle my review for others to look like you told me to go back to original jeweller because it wasn’t possible to resize. IT WAS, & has been safely NOT my original jeweller abroad, by someone you recommended that was skilled.
First place I went to for engagement ring re sizing. The gentlemen on the desk went to discuss with the workshop about re sizing, came back to tell me unfortunately due the way the trilogy ring was made it's unable to resized, needs to be remade, quoted up nearly £3000 to re make the ring, using reasons & fancy explanations - telling me it needed to be more like a certain style. Bear in mind a brand new ring custom made by a family jeweller. The gentlemen wasn't someone that physically did the work or knew, with not a great bedside manner. Luckily I got a second opinion - the second place laughed at this story, examined the ring & said you can absolutely re size this and did so in under 2 hours perfectly - they also had heard poor reviews on this place. So all in all be wary! They will try to charge you a fortune to re make a ring that can in fact be re sized. Shameful for Hatton garden really. Beware.

We are sorry that you didn’t like the advice you received from us.
Obviously we aren’t in the habit of turning down express ring resizings, which are one of our specialities, but we are in the habit of informing customers of structural integrity issues with their jewellery which may cause them problems either straight away or in the future.
I have seen the photographs of the ring taken when you brought it in, and have spoken to the 2 goldsmiths who assessed your ring, as well as my colleague in the office who relayed this back to you, and they have reconfirmed that the solder between the collets was deemed too thin and porous, and that with the soldered gap between the collets being so large and the thickness of the collets so thin, coupled with the number of sizes it needed to go down, they couldn’t guarantee that the ring could be safely sized and last indefinitely, as a sizing should. As was explained to you when you came in, porosity is where there are air pockets running through the metal which can cause it to become brittle and fail with wear.
On the rare occasion where the risks are deemed too high that an issue will occur during the sizing process, or as a result of the work we carry out, we will inform the customer, provide alternative options, and unfortunately refuse to carry out the requested work, as was the case in this instance.
I am pleased that my colleague advised you to both get a second opinion and to take the ring back to your family jeweller who made it for resizing; which I hope also shows that he was not trying to make you get the ring re-made, but purely explaining the options open to you; as well as showing you physical examples of how in our opinion the ring should have been made. He also only provided you with the quotation after asking you if you would like to receive it, which you requested.
Having discussed your review with the team, despite having advised you to take the ring back to your family jeweller, we understand how the optics of being told we won’t resize your ring as well as providing a quotation to remake the ring may come across, and are reviewing our procedures when it comes to a situation like this.
While you clearly have been able to find someone to carry out the resize regardless of the risks, we prefer to err on the side of caution and make customers aware of the assessments carried out by our goldsmiths, and turn down the work rather than than proceed knowing there is a potential risk to the integrity of the ring as it ages, or if the quality of the repair or resizing will fall below the high standards we are renowned for.
As we offer a guarantee on our workmanship, should the sizing or repair work we carry out be the cause of the loss of your diamonds, or ring, we would be responsible for this and hence refuse to perform the requested work.
I am pleased to hear you were able to have the ring sized elsewhere and hope that the integrity of the ring is maintained as it is worn and ages.

Wedding ring refit.
I had to have my gold wedding refitted after it was cut off due to surgery on my finger. I found Hatton Garden Workshop online and booked a meeting. I found them very professional and easy to talk to. They explained very clearly what would take place and how much the total cost would be. My ring was ready for collection within 48 hours and is as good as new. Thank you again.

No accountability or transparency
I chose Hatton Garden Workshop based on its strong online reputation and had no prior connection to the business.
From the outset, the experience felt unprofessional. During the initial inspection, my diamond (which had already fallen out of my semi-tension ring) was dropped on the floor, requiring us to get down and search for it. Given the nature and value of the item, this was unsettling.
The ring was repaired and returned to me. Subsequently, the diamond fell out again and was lost. I raised this calmly and reasonably, seeking to understand what had happened and to reach a fair resolution, rather than pursuing the value of the diamond itself.
To understand the situation, I asked for basic documentation of the repair (such as a repair record or bench notes) so I could see exactly what work had been carried out. These requests were refused, meaning I was never provided with any written detail of the repair.
I requested a refund of the £300 repair fee, which I felt was reasonable in the circumstances. I also discussed, separately, an additional £200 might reflect the distress and inconvenience caused. This was not a demand and was secondary to my request for transparency and accountability. No refund was given.
The correspondence became defensive rather than constructive, and I was discouraged from seeking any independent assessment of the workmanship. When I suggested obtaining an independent professional report to understand what had gone wrong, I was told:
“I will place no credence to any ‘report’ written by a commercial enterprise or company potentially considered a competitor.”
What has been most disappointing is not just the loss of the diamond, but the lack of transparency and refusal to provide a reasonable remedy, even at the level of refunding the repair fee.
I am sharing this so others can make an informed decision and ensure everything is fully documented if they choose to proceed. I have retained all correspondence relating to this matter.
In response:
For clarity, I did not request £610 at any stage, nor was I ever offered a free replacement diamond. There is no written record of either in our correspondence.
My request was for a refund of the repair fee following the loss of my diamond, and I asked for basic repair documentation (bench notes), which was refused.
I have retained all written communications and am confident in the accuracy of what I have shared. I will not be engaging further here.

For clarity, the independent findings stated that the Hatton Garden Workshop’s “approach has been professional and with a clear willingness to find a fair and constructive resolution. You’ve communicated openly, offered options even where you do not believe you were responsible, and maintained a courteous tone throughout.”
It was also stated by the case handler in relation to our earlier self-referral and subsequent dialogue with you, that “I’ve listened to the recording from our legal helpline, and everything the adviser said is exactly what I would have said myself if asked for general guidance.”
I am pleased that you were happy to accept either of our original offers to either refund your repair, or replace the diamond and reset it into the ring at no cost; and that the refund has been issued to you and you have been content to conclude matters.

As with much of our extensive correspondence over the last 3 months, and the other reviews you have left, much of what you say is untrue, with key information omitted. I am pleased to see you have removed some of the outright lies from your Google review, but still you are not truthful and are giving a very misleading account of events.
The fact of the matter is, in January 2025, we re-built metal to the lips of your 25 year old faux tension set ring and reset your stone, handing it back to you in a near perfect condition, after you knocked the diamond out wearing it to the gym. We also advised you to insure the ring and to cease wearing it to the gym.
Fast forward to mid-October 2025, 10 ½ months after initially bringing the ring into us, you brought it back into us with extensive damage all over the ring, which had caused the bezel (a separate component we hadn’t worked on) to split, losing the diamond in the process. As this was damage you had caused to the ring we advised you to make an insurance claim, as would be the recommendation in any situation like this.
Following numerous emails, purely as a gesture of goodwill (and very clearly stated that we did not accept liability for the damage you caused to the ring) we agreed to your request to refund the cost of your initial repair (£310), as well as offering the option to repair your ring and supply and set a Lab Grown diamond replacement free of charge. You then proceeded to repeatedly demand cash compensation of £610, then £500, threatening us with reputational damage, reporting us to trade bodies and legal action if we did not comply with your requests.
Following your ever more unreasonable emails, you are aware we then referred ourselves to the NAJ Resolve dispute resolution service, and spoke to a solicitor to seek guidance, who reassured us we had gone far above our commitment, seeing as this was damage you had caused to the ring and that it was nothing to do with the repair we carried out close to a year before; but you refused to accept their findings.
Following your request I compiled an extensive report, including all correspondence, before and after images, work carried out to the ring, recordings of calls with the NAJ and statements from all goldsmiths and diamond setters who had worked on your ring; and as you escalated it to a legal matter, agreed to forward a copy direct to the case handler at the NAJ Resolve service, or to your solicitor, which I am still happy to do.
We are a small family run business and while customer satisfaction is at the heart of what we do, we refuse to be coerced into making undue cash payments based on escalatory threats of reputational damage. While it is clear you weren’t happy our gestures of goodwill, or with the independent outcome of your complaint, contrary to your assertion, we have behaved professionally and fairly throughout.
