If you think HY is a venerable old established British menswear company, you would be very much mistaken - it is somewhere in China. If you think that when you buy a chambray shirt from them it will be a lighter version of 100% cotton denim, with the classic indigo dye warp yarns and natural weft, you would also be wrong. The so called "chambray" one I bought was a piece dyed bit of plastic rubbish. If you think it will be easy to return your item, forget it. They make it nigh impossible and it is on your tab. My advice would be to avoid this company at all costs.

All the reviews here are true. The company operates like this, poor quality goods and my in my case wrong size. Say wrong size is not grounds for them paying for return postage. Fight back! Challenge the company through your bank and credit card company. If enough people complain then an investigation will be triggered and if found true credit cards will boycott them! Dont put up with this!

HOW THIS SCAM WORKS. Dissatisfied with substandard poor-quality item which does not resemble the advertised product shown in a particular photo. You email the company requesting a refund, for which you will receive a response starting with "Thank you for reaching out, and I'm truly sorry to hear that the...." and will be given 2 option. Option 1 is return goods at your expense & it is expensive and when you do, the company will deny the goods have been received by them and no refund is given. Option 2 is basically a measly 15% discount and told to keep the product.
The company’s modus operandi is that once you receive the substandard poor-quality item(s) and contact them for a refund is to keep you in a perpetual loop of “sympathetic responses” giving various deflective excuses until you eventually give up trying for a refund. This hustle is taken from the Arthur Daley book for schemers. UPDATED after the latest email offer, now they want to give us 100% credit note to buy another item from them, why would i want anything else they have to offer??? YET still no sign of a return item address for the original refund, having asked them 3 times now

This company are scammers, they sell products that aren’t as advertised. Reviews on their website are forged, do NOT buy from them whatsoever. I will be requesting a full refund

Hi.if you see something you like in this site(hartley&york ) becareful they are chinese scammers.they will take your money and send you something completley different
So please don't buy from this scammers

Terrible sizing and poor quality. They took about 2.5 weeks to arrive and they turned up way smaller than stated on the website. I have requested a refund but am sceptical.

I am extremely disappointed with my purchase from Hartley & York. The items I received look nothing like the photos displayed on their website—the material is cheap, poorly finished, and completely lacking proper care or material labeling.
When I reached out to customer service to request a return and refund, they refused to resolve the issue properly. Selling products that fail to match their advertising and then denying customer refunds is completely unacceptable. Save your money and shop elsewhere.
Items are poor quality China made shirts - avoid at all costs
We have now raised an issue via our credit card provided
Following over 10 emails back and forth and the starting of a credit card claim, they were able to give me a full refund for the two shirts. It took so much time and insistence on my part with them adding a little bit more percentage to the refund each time - we finally got there but they were very keen for me to ensure I cancelled the credit card claim back which I did once the refund had been processed. All very suspicious and poor service all round.

Dreadful quality at a premium price. I reckon these probably cost £2-3 to manufacture in China and are selling at a whopping cost. That are thin and badly made. Worse is that they ship direct from China so are expensive to return and they only refund once they receive and only give you 30 days to get back to you

The website is full of bogus reviews that do not exist on trust pilot. Trust pilot should sure them for misrepresentation...as should consumers.

I ordered an outfit online. What arrived was laughable, the cheapest material nothing like the photo and a split seam in the shorts and the shirt. All tags cut out. This is honestly the worst online order I’ve made, it’s so bad I’m actually laughing as I type this!

Scam don't buy. The item that arrived barely looks like the one ordered and was low quality. It was about 5 sizes too small and I'm an S!

Shocking company, item arrived looking nothing like the jacket advertised, it was like a thin shirt. All the labels had been cut out which their customer service advised ‘was due to there new “Seamless Comfort" initiative, our team intentionally removes synthetic tags during quality checks to prevent skin irritation.’ Even the washing label has been removed.
On my 6th email trying to get a refund but all they keep offering is to refund me a % off item and to keep it (it’s that bad my husband wouldn’t wear it) and offering me options as what I could do with the item, gift it, give it to charity etc. They also advise that if I were to send it back, to their warehouse in China, I would have to pay the international shipping fees. Absolute scam - would not bother ordering anything.
UPDATE 24/08 - email from customer service offering a voucher to cover the cost of the item bought, however after reading recent reviews about the quality of the products I don’t think I want to chance ordering anything else. Already raised dispute via credit card so will await the outcome of that.

Scam site & sellers. Clothes do not look anything like those shown in pictures on their website. If you do place an order expect to get cheap, low quality, hastily stitched together approximations of the items you think you're getting - with the labels cut out for some reason. They do not offer full refunds. Repeated emails have resulted in 45% being the highest refund offered but I doubt they would pay this if accepted. They will not give return postage labels or even a return address. Expect to be disappointed.

Scam website. Products not at all as shown on website. Offered a partial refund or return overseas at my own expense. AVOID.
