I wish I had started the process a lot…
I wish I had started the process a lot sooner than I did and I would urge anyone struggling with debt to get in touch from sleepless nights mood swings anger/depression and then to finally pluck up the courage and make a phone call to just enquire about getting help.
Right from that initial phone call I could feel the weight being lifted off my shoulders they have been amazing throughout the entire process and turned my life around

Mixed feelings. Watch your own back post-das
During my Debt Arrangement Scheme, the support was genuinely excellent. At one of the most stressful periods of my life, they made the process far easier than I ever expected. They dealt with my creditors, gave me breathing space, and when I was off sick from work and struggling financially, they were understanding and supportive. Without the DAS, I don’t know how I would have coped, and I’m very grateful for the help I received during that period.
Unfortunately, once my DAS was completed, my experience changed completely.
When I needed help after the arrangement had ended, I found it extremely difficult to get any assistance. I was told there was nothing they could do because my DAS had finished. I repeatedly asked to speak to my caseworker but was refused. The only thing I was eventually able to obtain was my DAS completion letter, which I had to repeatedly ask for.
The biggest issue is that, after my DAS was completed, at least two creditors were not updated correctly. As a result, they continued to treat my accounts as outstanding, I received arrears notices and payment demands, and my credit file was reported incorrectly. I had to contact the creditors myself, raise formal complaints, and provide evidence that my DAS had been completed. Both creditors have now accepted that my records needed to be corrected, and I have the letters confirming this.
I cannot fault the support while I was actually in the DAS—it was outstanding. However, the support after the arrangement ended was a completely different experience and caused unnecessary stress at a time when I believed everything had been resolved.
I would still recommend the DAS because it genuinely helped me regain control of my finances. However, I believe the closure process needs significant improvement. Once a DAS is completed, nobody should be left having to chase creditors themselves or fight to get their credit record corrected.

We are very happy that you felt supported during your DAS and that you would recommend the DAS as a solution for those wishing to regain control of their finances.
We agree with you, it is an excellent solution for those who need time to repay their debts in an affordable way, whilst also safeguarding assets, such as their home.
However, we are disappointed that you did not receive satisfactory support after your payment programme was completed successfully, and we apologise for this. This is not the level of service we expect to provide. The contents of your review will be fed back to the relevant teams to ensure no one else has the same experience after the completion of their payment programme.
I would also like to point out that in every case that is closed, all creditors are provided with the same closure information. Unfortunately, some of these creditors have inadequate procedures in place to ensure that they update their customer records properly, and, in turn, they also fail to update their customers’ credit files. This does not happen all the time, but when it does, it can cause problems for individuals who are rightfully frustrated at the actions of these creditors.
From time to time, we can also have issues trying to help customers after their payment programme has completed, this is because we are no longer acting in an official capacity for the individual and because of this, some creditors will refuse to accept our correspondence. Again, this is rare, but it can happen.
Hopefully, this response provides you with some useful background information on why these problems can occur, nevertheless, we agree with you that an individual should not be left chasing creditors or fighting to get their credit file updated, and we will ensure that we do what we can to help all customers who find themselves in a similar situation to you.

Everyone i dealt with was very knowledgeable, understanding and where just generally nice people. Any time i had a question they answered and made sure everything was right. I am now at the end of my trust deed it has take 4 years and in that time the staff and service have been excellent. Thank you. If anyone is scared of debt and being hounded by big red letters and you feel like its too much. Speak to harper mcdermott( trust deed scotland) the letters stopped and the stress and worry stopped also. Highly recommend. Even just speak to them and you will feel much better when the explain the process. In the grand scheme of things 4 years isn't much ro get rid of all the worry I actually cant belive how quick it has went past. Just a small mention for Michelle who was the last person I spoke to. Thank you for all the help and advice.
