Going over and above
Went in to buy sleeping bags for a homeless charity in Belfast, being a member the sleeping bags were £10 instead of £20. I bought 2 boxes, 8 bags in each box. Unknown to the girl at the checkout these sleeping bags were for charity but she was very helpful and said they could get a better deal, so between her and 2 other staff we managed to get a very good deal. Thank you to Clare, Maia and Charlene for going over and above.

Staff need training
Unfortunately customer service is severely lacking in the Abbey centre store. Lots of staff wandering around the store but wasn’t approached once to ask if we needed anything. Also stood waiting at the tills while 4 members of staff stood chatting and laughing with one another to the side of the counter. Watched a lady in front of us give up and leave and don’t blame her. When someone eventually opened up another till there was no apology and it was like we had inconvenienced her by trying to spend money in the store. A really uncomfortable experience and disappointed as the place is expensive and we were spending a lot of money… doubt we will be back.

We understand how frustrating it must have been to see several colleagues available on the shop floor, yet not be offered any assistance, and then be left waiting at the tills without acknowledgement. The lack of communication and apology during your visit is particularly disappointing, and we're sorry that you were made to feel like an inconvenience when making your purchase.
Providing friendly, attentive customer service is something we take seriously, and it's clear that we did not get this right on this occasion. Bradley gave me great advice on tent choice ( OEX Hyena 2) when replacing my decayed item. Was out off stock, but he had me one next day, also got an OEX chair as I'm looking a bit of comfort these days.

Great help.from the staff
What made my experience great was the help that I got from the staff member called Mark. He was able to advise me about the camping equipment that suited my needs and quickly realised that I had a disability and helped me get all my camping equipment gathered up and even packed it into my car for me, as I could not lift the heavy 8 man tent and some others items. I am extremely grateful for the help as it was a little embarrassing for me as I could not manage doing this all alone I have been back since and Mark has been quick to help myself and other customers. I even offered him a tip for his kindness, but he would not take it out of respect for the situation I was in.

Staff are problem solvers
Was served by Sarah-Louise who couldn’t have been more helpful in sorting out an issue with my membership and discount card to ensure I got the discount. She had to drive 2 or 3 different things rather than a “sorry no” - that takes a particular brand of care whilst also making the customer feel they weren’t a hassle. Promotion and pay rise required.
