Terrible Return Policy

I've been an Express customer for 2 decades, but as of today no more. Went to return an order in store & was told I was past the return window to my surprise. I had ordered on 5/31/2025 & received the items on 6/9/2025. Turns out the 30 day return window starts from the ship date. I didn't even know when the ship date was as I had deleted the email notifying me the item had been shipped after I received the items because why would I need it after receiving the items. Anyhow I was 2 days past the ridiculous 30 day after ship date return window. Express you're now dead to me.

I recently purchased two shirts

I recently purchased two shirts, which I ordered on May 22. They arrived June 1st. Neither shirt looks like the picture and were too big so I wanted to return them. I first went to the store closest to me two weeks ago, which was an outlet store and told me they could not accept the return. I then went to the other store across town to return it on June 28. I was told the 30 day return policy starts on the order date and they could not accept the return either for refund or store credit, the manager was extremely rude as was the customer service line when I called. This is absolutely ridiculous. How can they start a 30 day return policy from the day you order it? Absolute worst customer service.

I recently purchased 2 items online…

I recently purchased 2 items online from Express. I was aware of the 30 day return policy. I purchased the items on 5/24 & went to a store to return on 6/29. I was told that I was passed the return date as apparently the return policy is 30 days from the ship date of their warehouse. I don't even think that is legal since if it is not in my hands until 5/31 how am I going to return it.

Paid my express card off, they still charge

Paid my express card off back in December, well, Express decided they want to charge me $2 every month and then a late fee for not paying the $2 that I didn't even know they were charging me because I paid the card OFF! now they will only remove 2 late fees. Unbelievable, I will definitely be canceling and never shopping there again. They also changed their app which no longer works with androids so I couldn't even check my account the last few months. No every one has iphones! Get with technology and stop charging $40 late fees when a payment is only a day late!

Poor Customer Service

Years ago, someone tried to charge over $1,000 to my Express account. I caught it and Express took care of it, which I appreciated at the time.

Now, I’ve had another issue—and this time, Express has been completely unhelpful.

I ordered a dress two weeks ago. Instead of being shipped to me, it was sent to the same address in Miami that the fraudster from years ago had used. I recognized the strange street name right away and contacted customer service immediately.

They told me there was nothing they could do and that I should call UPS. I’m not a logistics expert—this was their mistake, not mine. The package has been floating around Miami ever since, and I’m stuck in a loop between Express and UPS, with neither taking responsibility.

Bottom line: Express sent my order to the wrong address, one connected to a past fraud case, and refuses to fix it. I’m still waiting, still frustrated, and very disappointed in how this has been handled.

Abysmal quality control

I received two pairs of pants in the same size, same line. One fits, one is 3.5 inches too long. The one that fits, the hem came loose after 1 wear. But I have to pay them to return their defective products because they closed all their stores within 3 hours from me.

RUN AWAY! DO NOT BUY FROM EXPRESS!

They do not honor their advertised Sales

I had items in my cart. They posted a sale that ended at midnight. Their site was conveniently down the entire day. I tried several times to place my order throughout the day. The next day the sale was over so it was not honored when I tried to check out for the 15th time. I contacted CS, even after I told him the entire situation he kept me on the phone sending me through steps and asking for all information to place the order. Then when I mentioned that the order was not reflecting the sale price he said oh that sale is over. Like seriously!? That was the entire reason I called and explained it to him. So frustrating then tried to reach out to CS on chat it was just as frustrating with absolutely NO help just wasting more time asking for information just to say the same thing. I spoke with 3 separate people because it kept cutting off the conversation. THEY DO NOT HONOR SALES THEY ADVERTISE. And will waste your time. I like the clothes. Just not CS or there bad business practice. Buyer beware

I made a purchase totaling $320.00 and…

I made a purchase totaling $320.00 and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The box arrived broken and open, and some clothing items were missing from the package. This is completely unacceptable for a store like Express. I expect a prompt response.

If I could put below 0 for a review I would!

If I could put a 0 for a review I would. I AM EXTREMELY disappointed with the move of the call/customer service center outside of the United States. The new call/customer service center does not understand customer service and are simply reading off of scripts when assisting. They refuse to resolve customer service issues. All of the local Express stores in my area closed. I have to travel 3 hours to the closest store. I made an online purchase and the top and the top was a bit too small. When I reached out to Express customer service to ask for a price match to purchase the EXACT same top in a larger size, they said Express does not offer price matches for ANYTHING. I explained my situation and they directed me to a local Express store. I explained that the closest Express store was 3 hours away and this specific top is not carried in the store. Their response was that they could not do ANYTHING for me as they have limitations. As a customer of Express for 30+ years, I am VERY DISSAPOINTED. This is NOT customer service. I see why Express stores are closing and why many have stopped online purchases from Express. Express needs to understand how to shift the call/customer service back to the United States or elsewhere around the globe where they have a company that has Express in their best interest and is working to help Express stay in business. Express has lost me as a customer and I will be sharing this experience with friends and family.

If I could give a -0 I would. I had $30 Express Cash from a purchase I made in February then I was given $40 Express Cash in March for my birthday which now totaled $70 in Express Cash. Apparently someone in Miami Florida redeemed it. I’ve never been to Miami Florida. I called customer service repeatedly and was given a ticket number and that it would be resolved. Was never resolved. They told me I redeemed them in Florida. I didn’t lol. I deleted my Express app and will no longer be shopping there. My debit card was also compromised on the Express app. Very poor customer service.

They don’t care about customers.

They don’t care about customers.. they are bankrupt, and won’t be around much longer, so they don’t care any longer.. they don’t care about these reviews either. If they did, they wouldn’t have the policies they have. Got some clothing from the website 21 days ago, didn’t fit, went to return them. The 30 day policy for returns starts when they ship it, not when you get it.. 1 day late for returns, and they won’t take it. I’m mailing the clothes to them anyway.. they obviously need the money more than me..I can’t use them. What a way to alienate a decade plus customer .. they don’t care. Even writing this is a waste of time. Too many other places to shop. Take a happy customer and turn them into an annoyed one .. because of a day.. might be one of the many reasons why they are in bankruptcy

Bought a beautiful white sweater

Bought a beautiful white sweater, that cost about $90 for a Christmas party. I did not wear, nor wash this item until after the return period as i loved the sweater and it fit. However when washing it, the black on the bows ran onto the White sweater. I sent multiple photos of this sweater and I was told, the return is outside the 30 days. Its not a return issue, its a quality issue. I will return other items, and not shop there anymore as they do not stand behind their work product.

No Help With Lost Order!

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. I ordered 6 work trousers from them a month ago. I spoke to an online agent and she said to wait another 2 weeks. Two weeks passed and still no package. I called their customer service to speak to a live agent and was again told the same thing. I finally called UPS and they said the order was lost and that Express should file a claim. I requested a refund and am still waiting on it. It's been 2 weeks and still nothing! At this point, I may have lost $250! I will NEVER buy anything from them again.

I was at the store today @1.45pm

I was at the store in Huntington Station at the Whitman, New York today, February 12, 2025 around 145. You could check the cameras. I was very passion. Ask to return clothes. I do understand. I don’t have the receipt but I request talk to the manager and somebody showed up. She not represent herself as a manager then I heard she was the assistant manager, and she was very rude person. Very very rude. She was laughing about me that when I getting upset? This is my favorite store. You can check how much I spent a year a lot of money. My phone number is . My name I am very disappointed today. All my suit is from Expres. I work with Suits This girl make the store look so bad look like she don’t have experience. She was around talking with her friend. She was not put attention to the customers. She never come to talk to me. She just talk from far away from the other register. she was screaming on me. she said go go go go and moving hands in front of others costumers I was embarrassing this happened was in Huntington station New York at the mall, Whitman, New York.

Good luck!

I have encountered such a frustrating customer service and return experience with Express. I’m truly amazed at how poorly managed their customer support processes are.

Over two months have passed since I returned an item I was mistakenly sent, and I still haven’t received my refund. I’ve reached out to their online support multiple times, and each response has been identical—promising action with no follow-through. First, I was told, “You need to wait for us to inspect the item before receiving your refund”—still no refund. Then, “Please wait two weeks for the refund”—no refund. “Check back in 10 business days”—still nothing. “Your refund has been issued; you’ll receive a confirmation email in 72 hours”—no email, no refund. Most recently, I was told, “Please allow 7 business days for the refund.” Will this time be different? Who knows. Customer support has assured me that they are "optimistic there won’t be another delay."

At this point, it’s almost comical how poorly managed this process is. While the brand offers some great clothing and sales, their customer service and operational efficiency are truly abysmal.

I absolutely love the way Express…

I absolutely love the way Express clothes fit me. The quality is decent, although the prices may benefit being lower. That said, the customer service online is atrocious. They've outsourced their customer service over seas (specifically to India) where they don't really understand English; as a result they aren't able to help me at all. It's so frustrating having to deal with this that it turned me away from Expresss entirely.
