Everything went very smoothly

Don't normally leave reviews but feel compelled to share quite frankly the worst customer care I've ever experienced.

Advised that car had a service book with 3 stamps, including a service performed by Evans Halshaw prior to sale. Car delivered with no documentation whatsoever. Politely queried and requested it be sent to me via post / email.

After repeated requests over the next 4 weeks (including escalation to the Used Car Manager), became suspicious that the 3 services did not in fact exist, and requested full and honest disclosure. 8 weeks, 15 requests and 3 online complaints later - still nothing, only the odd response with false promises, and not even a hint of an apology 😂

Appears they are now deploying the "ignore him and he'll hopefully give up" tactic. The Used Car Manager in particular is either incompetent or doesn't care, and needs urgent customer care training. I am now pursuing legal action for false representation and misselling.

As a side note, car was also delivered 3 days late with significant water ingress, a flooded footwell, no mats (which cost as little as £12), internal stains and dirt, an overpowering smell of mould and not even a 50p air freshener to mask it a little.

Service you wouldn't even expect this from a dodgy back street garage, let alone a reputable nationwide dealership like Evans Halshaw. I have been truly shocked by their behaviour - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

P.S. To end with a laugh, this was the automated response from the online complaint submission:

"Customer satisfaction is our top priority and we are now investigating your concern with a matter of urgency to ensure your issue is resolved as soon as possible"

Bought a Ford Focus, told everything was fine with it, on receiving the car, suspension drop link broke, turbo heat shields all cracked, break fluid needs immediate changing amongst another range of issues, was told it was serviced, MOT’d and had a health check a month prior. How did I receive a car in such a poor state of repair from such a big company is beyond me. In fairness they offered to cover the repairs but I feel like it shouldn’t have come to me in that state in the first place. By the time my local Evans Halshaw could health check it took it past the 14 day guarantee, had to grovel to the used car sales manager and general manager to accept it back past the guarantee. One thing they would not budge on was me having to get it back to them, I live in South Wales, I drove it 383 miles when the break fluid needed urgent changing (Could not afford to pay a courier nearly £800-£1000 to deliver it for me) highly dangerous. 6 and a half hour drive starting at 1am £55 full tank of fuel, £20 Uber to Glasgow bus station, 9 hour megabus back £20, train home £5.50, food £20, weekend ruined.

Waited nearly 2 weeks for my refund. Ringing the dealership about 10 times a day to get fobbed off constantly as the used car sales manager is in ‘Zoom meetings’ every morning 9-12am, then impossible to get hold of him in the afternoon, promised tons of call backs, only ever received one from the elusive ‘Cammy’. Felt like an absolute inconvenience every time I rang. Emailed Cammy about 7 times, never replied to me once. Refund eventually processed, £300 short, nothing on the refund explained to me, took out a service plan with them, to this day I do not know if it’s been cancelled, did ask Cammy via email but did not have the courtesy to get back to me. I was always polite and courteous to deal with, more understanding and patient than most (most people would have been going crazy down the phone). Roughly about £450-500 out of pocket from this nightmare dealing. Car should not have been sent to me in that condition or I should have been told of it before hand. Missed 2 days of work over the bank holiday as I live 60 miles away from Cardiff where I work, I begged the used car sales manager more or less if they could push through the refund because I needed to purchase another car to get back and fourth to work, got the impression they could not care less.

Made to feel like an inconvenience, not one single apology from the used car sales manager Cammy or the general manager when I spoke to them. I never write complaints because I can’t be bothered usually but this is hands down the worst customer service I have ever received.

Shout out to one of the used car sales guys who answered the phone to me once and interrupted a meeting for me, he was the only empathetic guy I spoke to during all this and I’m very thankful for him (Think his name was Chris)

I do not want to speak to that dealership ever again and if they monitor these reviews and reply don’t bother honestly your wasting your time to try and resolve it. I told Cammy via email ‘ I do not want to complain, but I am seriously considering my options, head office complaint, trading standards etc, given you plenty of opportunities to speak to me and nip it in the bud but you seem unwilling to speak to me. I will be using the emails I have sent to you with zero replies in the evidence if it comes to it.’ and he did not have the decency to get back to me so I am complaining to everyone and anything I can. Not fit to be a manager, dealing with complaints is part of the job of being a manager. Should probably concentrate less on Zoom meetings and tending to the customers you already have.

Oh and one dealing I had with Callum over the phone, he promised me Cammy would call me back and I told him he won’t I know he won’t. He never did 👍🏼 I knew he wouldn’t. And Callum definitely hung up on me once when I told him my name and what I wanted, did not forget about that.

Andrew was nice to deal with when initially buying the car, did say there would be a print out of the health check in the car when I receive the car but was not there which was disappointing. If that health check was there I could have rejected the car on day 1 of receiving it instead of waiting for my local EH to look at it. I understand the car sales guys don’t look at the cars and check them over so he only had to go off what was in front of him.

Not happy and taking all this up with head office.
